Im 16 and i temper fade my friends good and charge 5$ for now . I noticed that it many poeple temper fade different. I on the other hand temper fade with a Zero guard and 1 and 1/2 till it bulds up, But this is a nice way to

since u kicked off the taper with a num.2. im assuming the top of his head is a 3 and a half. now lets say i used a number 3 and a half on top. would my taking that 3 and a half against the grain ruin the taper?...because ive heard that 3 and a half against the grain is like a 2 with the grain

No, because you went against with a 2 which is a 1.5 with the grain. The 3.5 will against is still higher than the 2.

Yes, tapering means to make fit. Tapering is the process. You can taper without fading, but you can fade a cut without tapering. It really depends on the part of the country you're from

when you axplain to go down on the cut, does that go for straight hair as well?

It depends on what blade or guard you're using. I would go down on straight hair with anything less that a 1.5 blade or guard. Anything smaller could leave a gap or a bald spot.
