  • Just watched this episode last night.

I was seriously freaking the frak out.

  • Awesome song. It makes me want to do something artistic.

  • i want to learn how to play the piano just so i can play this all day

  • 25 cylons disliked their awakening.

  • I could listen to this all day

  • 25 people have no taste in music...

  • There´s Nothing to say.

  • This was a very well put together series. I wish it didn't end but like all great things they do. I've seen the series a few times now :p It's amaazing

  • @MrKylan28 no it is completely random. Genetics are to complicated and school makes it into a much simpler topic than it is. I can get a recessive for green eyes from my mom and brown eyes from my dad. i can also get her green eyes and nothing from my dad. Genetics is completely random, my genotypes aren't 24 my mom and 24 my dad. its completely random and the recessive-dominance of the trait has more to do with the chromosome not the supposed equality between "Mommy-traits" and "Daddy-traits."

  • @olive12121 the chromosomes are pairs of 23, not 24. you get 23 from your mother and 23 from your father. Also the eyes are an example of polygenic inheritance, more than one gene is affecting your eye colour. Genetics is random but based on rules (except in case of mutation) your genotype is divided equaly based on your parental chromosomes. The "Mommy-traits" and "Daddy-traits", your phenotype, is based on the recessiveness-dominance of the alleles of your genotype.

  • @olive12121 You have half and half genetic information from your parents. What you see in the mirror is how that genotype is expressed. The Mitochondrial Eve is not based on the DNA but in the identity of the mitochondria in the cells. When the zygote is forming it gets the mitochondria only from the mother. Following the timeline of mitochondria you end up in the first woman that gave birth and whos bloodline *survived*.

  • @hindmost88 like i said, its not clear cut and just because Hera is mitochondrial eve doesn't mean other people survived until now. Hera is mitochondrial eve because she has human and cylon DNA and maybe other hybrids just weren't found or pure cylon and pure human didn't qualify for mitochondrial eve

  • @thehindmost88 genetics isn't clear cut mathematics. It isn't 50/50 each generation. There are 48 chromosones with there own DNA helix but i don't have 24 genes from my mom and 24 from my dad. I can have 40 from my dad and 8 from my mom. Its completely random, not 50/50. I have an olive skin tone but both of my parents are pale. My dad has the dominant gene for pale skin as DD, no recessives. My mom has a dominant of pale and a recessive of tanning skin. She got her pale skin from her grandma.

  • @olive12121 : You're perhaps not using the good words. A child always receive 24 chromosomes from its mother and 24 from its father. There are a lot of genes on a pair of chromosomes. A single gene is splited (to be simple) in alleles on each chromosome of the pair. So you always have 50/50 of your genotype (all of your genes) from your mother and father. The thing is that depending on the recessiveness of the allele, it will or won't have effect on the phenotype (the visible caracteristics).

  • season one of battle star galactica started off slow, but once i got half way through season two. i was hooked. i was sad that it had ended :,/

  • Went to go like this video... it was already liked. Awesome :-D

  • i want a basestar or a battlestar so i can jump to mar or scopia or picon or capica

  • My husband told me to listen to this...

  • It's no stranger, it was Kara's father, or supposedly it was anyway.

  • ITS IN THE FRAKIN SHIP!!!!!!!!

  • @TheCujokiller Classic line

  • @TheCujokiller such a dumb ass thing of him to say. seriously, wtf, how is "it" "in" the ship? LOLZ

  • @TheCujokiller I hated Colonel Tigh, but after season 2 he became my favorite character!

  • -_O ! what the Frak!

  • i love this passage !

  • after playing this, my fraking toaster start burning every toast. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

  • Will someone turn off that music?!... wait.. it's in my head...

  • What jerk "dislikes" this????

  • IM A CYLONNNN

  • The look on Ty's face when she started playing this was amazing!

  • @Seccc watch?v=DhKEUbBeLeQ

  • Am I the only one waiting for a Cylon basestar to come?

  • If you think about it, we're all cylons in a way, we're running a billion year program called life, correcting by trial and error.

  • @basic078 We need NEO :(

  • We are all human/Cylon HYBRIDS, but I like to think of us as 95% CYLON, 5% human.

  • @FanJamesMarsters that would make no sense bacause we were more humans than cylons on earth 2 so that wouldnt make sense at all plus, why would you think we where 95 percent cylon why was that something you would like? because we are more human than cylon for example we cant preject images or "feel no guilt when we please", we are more human because we also are violent and murder so your statement is just ridiculous and based on nothing

  • @TheInFormer500 I was joking

  • @TheInFormer500 in the canon of the show, Hera was the common ancestor of all mankind. That literally means that out of all the people that landed on Earth at the end of the show, no ones bloodline made it through to modern man except those directly descended from hera. So that would be a 50/50 human cylon mix presumably diluting itself by half every generation. That would mean by now in the shows universe, cylon genes in people would be an almost insignificant recessive gene

  • @thehindmost88 They said in the show that only a hybrid of human and cylons could break the cycle of war, the other cylons, the 8,2, and 6's plus, saul and ellen have the potential to mate with the natives and other colonists, the reason they only mentioned Hera during the last ten minutes is because it was her that was in the show and "the first of gods new children"

  • @TheInFormer500 ...Um....No. That's not how genetics work. Hera was mitochondrial eve, she was the single common ancestor of every living human being on Earth today. That means, that if you trace the family lines of every person in existence, you would wind up back at Hera, who everyone alive today descended from. Now, even if her bloodline intermingled with other cylon/human hybrids along the way, you still start with a base genetic mix of 50/50 at Hera and the start of other

  • @thehindmost88 blood lines. Now, looking at the fact that there might have been a thousand or so cylons on the base star, and there were almost 40,000 humans....pretty obvious what the outcome is. A consistently diluting bloodline that ends up being an overwhelming majority human, with cylon traits becoming more and more recessive. So in other words, there was never a race of 'new children' started, there was just the introduction of a new set of genes that would slowly disappear

  • @thehindmost88 watch the ending again when angel Six explains the discovery of the mitochondrial Eve to angel Baltar. So mankind is half Human, half Cylon.

  • @cmsahe ....................no. Because I remember the ending. How about you watch the years you were hungover or stoned in high school and didn't pay attention to sophomore biology. Genes mix 50/50 every generation, in every instance of procreation. Simple mathematics dictate that without some sick twisted line of constant in breeding, which would only delay the dilution of cylon genes, eventually each cylon bloodline would be forced to continue bringing more human genetics intothe pool

  • @thehindmost88 to maintain genetic viability. This would eventually as the population increased lead to cylon genes becoming more and more recessive. No matter what crazy shit you do short of cloning, by our time cylon genes in the gene pool would amount to almost nothing. And this whole argument is assuming that mankind is descended from all the descendants of everyone who landed. Like I stated earlier, Hera being mitochondrial eve means that NO ONE'S descendants survived til now

  • @thehindmost88 except Hera's unless they bred into Hera's genepool. Now I'm horrible at advanced math and such, but I'll bet my life that those numbers add up to almost no one who landed from the 12 colonies surviving past a few generations unless they lived in proximity with Hera and as a result bred into that gene pool.

  • @FanJamesMarsters yes but if you are joking it still doesnt make sense and i dont get the joke:D

  • @TheInFormer500 Cylons are physically superior to humans. it would account for the abilities of major athletes.

  • @FanJamesMarsters indeed but we havent proven to have any superior abilities so it still fails

  • Great song, just finished watching the 4th season, loved it!

  • What key is this?

  • I need to learn how to play this song

  • *makes Tigh face* WHAT THE FRAK?

  • pff. I WISH I was a cylon. :/

  • @amoogashane well technically we are a halfbreed of human and cylon

  • @TheInFormer500 The thing is not everyone is... there was still human couples who probably never bred with cylons or half cylons

  • @wolfpaw05 no ofc not but alot did it may be 10 percent but still

  • @amoogashane we all are ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @amoogashane The grass is always greener on the other side.

  • there are no words to describe the EPICNESS!!!

  • Its in the frakin citadel, ;) anyone whos played mass effect 2 should get this

  • @TheAtomicusBomb It IS the citadel! It was the citadel all along! :D

  • @TheAtomicusBomb who knows... maybe cylons will appear in ME3 and help Shepard with the reapers and implying that there can only be one group of toasters in the galaxy XD

  • @youknowwho1989 ME3 ?

  • @Donzapp Mass Effect 3...

  • It's in my frakkin' speakers!

  • I love this but does anyone know if there is another version that has more of the upbeat feeling that starts just after the 1m mark?

  • This song is awesome! But...

For someone who's never seen battlestar Galactica, can someone explain who Kara is and what she remembered that warranted such an amazing theme?

  • @Davidk9292 ******semi spoiler******

"You are the harbinger of death Kara Thrace" a hybrid being deemed Kara. She does not actually know who or what she is as she "dies" and comes back but is not cylon. This song is basically the Final Five theme song.

Throughout the show there are "12" cylon models 7 are known 5 arent (final 5) they are awoken and find out who they are basically from hearing this song which ironically is a song that Karas dad had taught her when she was younger

    TL;DR Watch IT!

  • *puts ear closer* its in the frakin youtubes!

  • one of the few times a slightly out of tune piano works

  • i think i'm a cylon

  • When Hera drew those dots on that paper and Kara saw the resemblance i shat brix. Too many people thinks season 4 was just religious bullshit. I thought it was a decent finish to an amazing journey through out the galaxies and humanity.

  • @herogna BSG was probably the only show where i didn't mind its strong religiosity in the end, i even welcomed it, because it was excellently played. also in context of our religions which claim that "their" god(s) is(/are) the only true/right/existing one(s).

  • @herogna Decent?! No +1 for you :/

  • These songs were/are never long enough. I could listen to a single one for hours on end and not be bored

  • @belmazol20 Do you expect us to understand french?

  • Its happend before it will all happen again!

  • You did not know? Well then i have to tell you. Bear is No.7 a sensitive musician clever smart genial ... :-P Ellen told me ;-)

  • jo the original song was by bob dylan and it was coverd by jimi hendrix and it has been covered again for battlestar galactica once again. i think the instrumental part from the orchestra is brilliant. have a nice day

  • Comment removed

  • Someone help me out? Was this a redone song from an actual band/singer, or is it BSG-original?

    Been bugging me all day.

  • @TonyEvans96 Originally, it's Jimi Hendrix... Just search for it in Youtube and you'll find the original version with the same title ("All Along The Watchtower")

it bugged me as well... :D

  • @AetiusMerlin dang... I was hoping it would be original. It was THAT awesome...

  • @TonyEvans96 Well, if you want to be fair, it is an adaption, underlying different tones and musical patterns. It is not original, but I agree with you, it is that MORE awesome.... Glory to the composer... It is not just the series that is awesome, but its music as well... Marvelous... :)

And for the record, I was hoping that as well, but what can you do? :P I am content that it is that good and I listen to it all day long anyway! :)

  • @AetiusMerlin Ah, true that. Had it convered it a file for computer and got it on play loop.

Dunno if your computer can, but search programs for Realthek Audio Manager or something like that (Type in Real and should be a result. Change on of the settings to Tremble, and it really brings out the softer notes.

  • @AetiusMerlin I thought is was originally Bob Dylan.

  • @redplague It has turned out that it is and I am wrong. Anyway, the point is the same: this is not an original tune, though it is superbly adapted... :P

  • I have never watched this show before. I came here because of linkara and now i want to watch the show

  • I'M A 14. CYLON !! :)

  • regardless of the fact that this series are so frakkin awesome this song unlocks something in me ,its really wierd and strange and no perticular feeling just wild emotions of all kind ... really really wierd ... bob dylan really is a genius

  • every time I hear this song it makes me want to go on a BSG marathon

  • @DutchAntiChrist

    Lol, same here.

  • @DutchAntiChrist i just did:P

  • Bear McCreary must be a cylon!

  • While watching the episode, you can only get got by the song. Outstanding

  • I'm freaking scared, I was listening to this and some Evanescence songs. And well I closed all the Evanescence tabs and after listening to this a random evanescence song started playing...

  • I can't listen to this without doing the "CRAZY EYE" and saying "Whaat the FRAK?!?"

  • @Kiahsobyk it's in the Frakkin speakers!

  • Go fuck yourself takes on a whole new meaning when you're a cylon.

  • I really still keep getting sad and happy as I hear this, its just amazing stuff.

  • Everytime I watch this I have to look behind me for cylons or something, Sends shivers down my spine XD

  • Three years or so one, and it still gives me chills. Bear McCreary is a phenomenal composer.

  • I wish I had watched the series so I could get all these cylon jokes XD

  • good job

  • its on the fraking internet

  • I loved the battlestar galactica series. but I personally thought (SPOILER ALERT) that was the worst ending for the series creative but in a bad way. For that it lost an entire star in my netflix rating. 4 stars of awesome story though...

  • @unitNitro I was gutted at the end. Why oh why did it have to end so . . . sloppily?

  • "WILL SOMEONE TURN OFF THAT FRAKING MUSIC !!! TOO MUCH CONFUSION !!! "

  • This show started as just another sci fi series, and very quickly developed into something with far more depth than any series, maybe only lost can really compete. Its so rare to see an overarching plot flow throughout an entire series.

  • Best TV series ever :)))

  • tight is the best !!!

  • Did anyone figure out what happened to Starbuck, how she was brought back to life, etc?

  • @Magus322 When Starbuck died, she just died. Then she came back as an angel without knowing she was one. Once she completed the mission of bringing the humans to our Earth, she disappeared.
