I also think the Rocket Bottoms patterns have directions specifically for covers with gussets, but I have never tried that pattern and it's not free either.
The snap placement of 1 inch apart is pretty standard, but for newborn or small diapers they can also be set 3/4 inch apart. As for a cover pattern, I use the Nykibaby pattern because it's got nice rear coverage, but it's not free, and I also like the BaaBaaBaby SuperFit but it's not free either. You can use any pattern to make a cover and add gussets.
Does the snap placement work for all diaper sizes? Even newborn size? I am using Little Green Bears Size Small pattern (fits disposable size 1-2)... Will this work? Also, I really NEED a cover.. I have some FOE, and would like to make a one-size adjustable cover with snaps and gussets.. can you share a pattern (preferably free)?? Please! :) Thank you sooo much! :)
Thank you for posting this! It seems so simple and such clear instructions. This will be my first time making a diaper and I have watched countless videos on it but this makes me excited to get started. I really like how you made the elastic so simple to do.
Is there a reason that you don't tack down the leg elastic just like you did on the back, while the diaper is still inside out? Instead of blindly feeling around for it?
Since the snaps are going through two layers (cotton outer and PUL) it's not necessary to reinforce. I only do that when it's just a single layer of PUL>

I see that you didn't add an extra piece of PUL to reinforce where the snaps go. I'm guessing you haven't had any issues?
