What an odd combinatin of dodgy "Karate-fied" Silat and a bunch of sad parlour tricks.
The real deal is very impressive but hard to find. Maybe these guys just wanted to keep their secrets and put on a show for the cameras.
I have a mate (a fellow shodan at the time) who moved to Malaysia and lived their for ten years with every intention of studying Silat and what he found was so poor that he ended up training Wing Chun and Hapkido, so maybe it wasn't just a show for the camera.

That's our norm because we've been colonized for hundreds of years before Independence. The scar's still there. Teaching our martial art to outsiders is like 'giving our blade to them to kill us'. Maybe you don't understand. You have to be Malay to the core to understand that. And yes, Silat Seni Gayong looks like karate. The real deal is taught at the higher levels.

Dato Meor' is not "fake". In my opinion, he would beat every MMA fighter ( in his prime). But why every Malaysian spreading this story about fight between him and Bruce Lee? What Mahaguru Dato says in his autobiography book?

this silat mainly use in fight during night ambush,during jap invasion many part being ambush mainly in deep forest,this training practically use for endurance when living in jungle for weeks

I would have thought if these guys can actually fight they'd be entering stuff like UFC and winning millions, however if I remember correctly I know no one thats done silat and got famous in the fighting world, most people train muay thai and bjj cause they work, this is crap for idiots

@Lunabeam06 Yes, thats why the most professional fighters in the world (those in UFC) train Muay Thai and BJJ. The only time I saw a Silat practicioner in UFC, was at the very start and needless to say he was beaten. The trend since then has been to train in BJJ.

The true story is Bruce Lee did has a combat with a silat master but not actually combat. It was just training for fun and to know about silat. That all. Stop spreading story that you dont know.
nope...thats not true...bruce lee never duel with any silat master....let alone meor abd rahman, but bruce lee did sent representative to ask meor for a fight, unfortunatly, those guys got "kunci" by meor, so they went after mat lazim,..even meor has given his blessing, the fight never took place..and one of the guys got his ass kick by mat lazim, this incident took place at SMK Raja Chulan, ipoh.
There is no "camera Trick" here. It is pure martial art in display. What I really like here is the discipline and motivation showed by the trainees. Well dont underestimate thier capability. One strike from it can be fatal.

These are martial artists, and they train in martial arts, if you're going to say its bullshit you have to prove why it is. I've watched this and it looks every effective. Note that it takes a lot of courage to put your hands in hot coconut oil. Can you do that?

this silat mainly use in fight during night ambush,during jap invasion many part being ambush mainly in deep forest,this training practically use for endurance when living in jungle for weeks

@Lunabeam06 Yes, thats why the most professional fighters in the world (those in UFC) train Muay Thai and BJJ. The only time I saw a Silat practicioner in UFC, was at the very start and needless to say he was beaten. The trend since then has been to train in BJJ.

nope...thats not true...bruce lee never duel with any silat master....let alone meor abd rahman, but bruce lee did sent representative to ask meor for a fight, unfortunatly, those guys got "kunci" by meor, so they went after mat lazim,..even meor has given his blessing, the fight never took place..and one of the guys got his ass kick by mat lazim, this incident took place at SMK Raja Chulan, ipoh.

There is no "camera Trick" here. It is pure martial art in display. What I really like here is the discipline and motivation showed by the trainees. Well dont underestimate thier capability. One strike from it can be fatal.

tgk minit 1.27...aku Dato' Paduka Chura Simanja Kini(DPCM)...Dato' Meor kan dianugerahkan gelaran Dato' oleh DYMM Sultan Perak pada tahun 1971..

Omnickh: Judging from your profile, I'll make the assumption that you know jack about actual combat effectiveness and fighting. These are martial artists, and they train in martial arts, if you're going to say its bullshit you have to prove why it is. I've watched this and it looks every effective. Note that it takes a lot of courage to put your hands in hot coconut oil. Can you do that?
