You see, as a child I believed in God, which is fairly normal and common because children have a natural inclination to trust authority figures such as parents, teachers and God. I know the bible is full of alot of crap, but sometimes you to remember, the people who wrote the bible were looking at things they couldn't explain with their primitive eyes and then made their conclusions based on that. ....unfortunately..but the sad part is, as we evolved our understanding, people still take that book literally. Do you even know how an ERVs occur? A viral infection cannot affect every single species (for it would require several mutations which would make the code it inscribe in the genome DIFFERENT). You fail.
And you claim there is evidence of the flood? Provide just one. It can't be geological since there is not a sudden uniform layer all around the world. It's not the case. Why deny reality?

The BIBLE was written by men but inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Bible does not contradict itself as many ignorant people think, if so please point them out. Everyone has the chance to accept Jesus Christ into their heart but if you decide not to you will be spending YOUR eternity in Hell. Who created Man then, a Monkey?? Please people. Just look at the current events that are happening in todays world, everything is in the Bible about the future & current events. God has given us free will:-)

@inquiringalien: Fair enough. Although, back when I was a Christian, I seem to remember the definition being a bit more exclusive than that. I'm thinking it had something to do with indoctrination into "the blood of Jesus" and accepting him as your Lord and Savior.
I was always under the impression that Christians were those who followed Christ, not just believed in him.

If any god did exist, he wouldn't rely on petty text and scriptures to reveal himself to his creations. He would come before us and prove he exists. Instead, if god does exist then he apparently expects us to believe in him despite giving us no proof, and then says if you don't believe you're going to Hell. What a prick.

@INTEX21 hinduism is the only religion that speculates the age of the universe to be older then 8 billion years old. Although the universe is approx. 13.7 billion years old, they came the closest. Should you not then convert to hinduisim? Since it also contains a scientific miracle ?

@INTEX21 No I doubt that ll happen because I was a muslim till around 17. I left Islam after studying it. Secondly I was simply pointing out that having some verses in holy texts that might "sound" something like modern science doesn't make it a true religion.

the bible is fabricated, and has been changed and re-written by different people throughout history and added things that benefited their cause. this is why god sent his last messenger, muhammad(peace be upon him), and revealed the quran. in the quran you have prove that it was written by god because there are scientific facts and even scientists in europe have admitted this and converted to islam. islam and the quran are perfect in every way.

@bambierose17 there was no original bible lol the bible was written by "four apostles" and john was 200 years after jesus death. the "original" bible is corrupt, and didnt reveals jesus true message, which was, "worship only the god in heaven". jesus never said he was god, he never said to worship him. jesus also said he didnt know the day of judgment, only god knew, he prayed to god, by kneeling down to his face like muslims, and he said god is greater than him. these all prove he isnt god

Life is a mystery, science may have progress greatly but scientist still don't know how life began and can not produce it. What ever created us left us to manage and figure it out for ourselves, and I do not believe that we just got here by accident, our body & brain is so complex that the idea is simply impossible. Can it be that the universe & life had always existed, or does it have creator ? if so then who created the creator ? I just don't know.

We don't take the bible literally, we show what the bible says to people. So they can see it for what it is. A method of control using your deepest fears and hopes. Yes, you can be a Christian without taking the bible literally. To suggest otherwise strikes me as nonsensical. Jesus speaks in parables most of the time, for christ's sake.
I'm not taking it personally, but I'm tired of seeing anti-theists take a simplistic interpretation of these books just so that they can strawman religious people, or delude themselves into dismissing these texts. It's simplistic and stupid and only serves to exacerbate the theist/atheist conflict.
