  • now why dont we have good guitarist like SRV, gilmour in todays rock anymore and not just guitarist who consistantly play 2 power chords throughout a whole song lol RIP steve

  • 0:29 i wish i could do vibrato like that

  • this man could play the hell out of the guitar, I mean damn-it man, one can almost see it smoke

  • That 1 dislike shall die!

  • Stevie Ray Vaughn is one of the greatest guitar players of all time... those who dont respect him... SHUT UP!

  • this is just the beginning of Texas Flood. just say its The Texas Flood Intro, that way people aren't expecting some random solo from some unknown song.....

  • @Backpagetear This is an old comment, but this solo is halfway through the song.

  • Holy shit!!

  • I think ive probably watched this video 40 times in the last week and it never gets old. I love his face when he starts playing behind his back

  • WOW THIS IS SO GREAT ♥♥♥♥♥

  • If I didn't see him, I culdnt'believe that he was capable of this..

  • Haha Stevie Ray Vaughan is the real guitar hero.

  • This guy always made it look so easy...

  • omg what a solo

  • The best of the best... All i have to say about srv...

  • @Kashmir0109 I have to admit that i was reaching for a fourth a little bit. You call it, as long as it's not Slowhand

  • what song is this solo from?

  • @Stefank19k Texas Flood

  • @Stefank19k texas flood!!!

  • @Kashmir0109 Oh, good thing you told me that. I live by your okays.

  • Stevie, Jimi, Jimmy, and Pete. Mt. Rockmore.

  • who is the one who dont like this?

  • @foszczu4

    Me!

Lol jk, im not a cunt :)

  • guitar hero is pretty fun, but nothing beats the real experince from an electric guitar and acoustic guitar

  • Not only could he write great music and sing like an angel, he is one of maybe two rock musicians that can do other peoples songs and not mess them up, and maybe improve them a little. I can't say he improved Voodoo Child by Jimi, and he wouldn't say that, but he gave it his own magic. Taxman by the Beatles, the same thing, didn't mess it up and gave it a new dimension. That kind of genius is a rare thing. I hate the way some musicians now mess up good songs, like Beatle songs.

  • he passed away two years before I was born....why ?!?! :(

  • Comment removed

  • I play better than him ......... in my most imaginative dreams haha

  • Jeebus. The first time I saw him do this waaay back in '86 on "Austin City Limits," my jaw hit the floor. He is my alltime favorite guitar player.

  • sick

  • this looks like a live show I saw many many years ago on Austin City Limits

  • where can u compare a video game to real playing??

  • how did this solo's comments turn into a guitar hero argument?

of course if you give some guitar hero kid a real guitar they're gonna be bad, but just because you play guitar hero doesn't mean you're a wannabe guitarist, maybe they just want to play the damn game. the only time it should be bothersome is when a kid who's good at guitar hero acts like he or she is a rockstar, then its annoying, otherwise, just leave it out of actual guitar videos ok guys?

  • Where's the rest of this?

  • Jimi showed him

  • Holy shit, this guy can play better than 95% of guitarists in today's industry BEHING HIS FRIGGIN BACK

  • man this guy is way better than jimi hendrix

  • @7dayaddiction Not better, different.

  • @oneandonlyful

    Wrong.

  • @Drpepper687 whatever I love SRV but Jimi reinvented guitar, SRV ripped of most of the blues guitarists of the 20th century.

  • @oneandonlyful

While everyone has a right to their own opinions, there is such a thing as an "incorrect opinion". Thanks for proving that.

  • @scanlonsbrother of course i mean SRV wrote texas flood........oh wait he didnt.

  • I like his style much more than Jimi's.

  • @GitMatPl personally me too

  • @Kashmir0109 roflmao

  • Better than orgasm. Unreal.

  • I love their colors. what concert is this from?

  • This was an "Austin City Limits" broadcast from the mid-80s. I recall watching it when it was originally broadcast and I've never forgotten it. I'd never heard of Stevie Ray before that night!

    Thanks for posting this!

    .

  • @DrVonChilla u kno how long i been lookin for this video..i saw it on PBS once in '96 which inspired me to get an axe myself

  • hes gotta know that guitar inside, outside, upside down, every fuckin way possible

  • that a Jimi Hendrix song right ?

  • no its texas flood, originally by larry davis, made famous by SRV

  • its writen by stevie

  • @heuilleman nope srv wrote this; its called Texas Flood

  • the only thing I dont get is hes better than anyone else thats played for 30 years and he he didnt even see his 30th birthday. one word for that.. GOD

  • he died at 35 buddy

  • Without a doubt the best guitar player that ever lived.

  • @GuitaristJMAN 2nd best guitar player ever Jimmy Hendrix is first and he will always will be

  • says you

  • says SRV,God,and Me!, and everyone else that knows good guitarist

  • I'm just joshing ya

  • it's as if something else is playing the guitar... he's just along for the ride

  • And I was the ass that had tickets in hand for what proved to be SRV's last show ever in East Troy, WI. But Nooooooo... I had to sell them to take the overtime hours at my stupid summer job. I was young, and dumb. Have regretted it ever since...

  • I love how he is greater that about 100% of guitarists when he is playing behind his back

  • Kind of upsetting when I've been playing the guitar for 7 years and can't even play that well when I hold it normal.

  • Don't worry about it, people play their whole lives and still can't play as well as him.

  • All i gotta say.................Holy Shit!!!!

  • Austin City Limits. Hell yeah! I remember this. That whole show was one of the best ever!

  • texas flood lol

  • como se llama ese recital?¿¿??¿?¿?¿?¿?

    waths name the this concert?

  • Texas Flood

  • SRV live Austin city limits

  • one of his best, el mocombo texas floood even better though

  • Texas Flood, right?

  • I like guitar hero... But guitar is another thing... It's ridiculous, a lot of boys thinks that they're a guitar masters because they're able to play with it... I can't play guitar hero, I'm not good, but I can play guitar... Music isn't a videogame, music is poetry and dedication...

  • true

  • @grungeroso I agree with all you said but i have to worn you. I was saying exactly...up to the point where you said music is poetry and dedication which made you sound like a fag and im pretty sure your not. Music is that but the way a Classic rocker or blues player says it is like this. CLASSIC ROCK AND BLUES IS THE THEME MUSIC TO JESUS. RAP IS THE THEME MUSIC TO BLACK JESUS. and most country music is the theme to the gays.

  • @log70 Hahaha... I'm not english so I realized that "dedication" wasn't the best term... I'm only saying that these guys had sweat blood studying an instrument...

Nobody born able to play like this...

  • @grungeroso None are born able to play like this. i agree. but Some like Stevie, BB king, Eric johnson, Jimmy H., Shawn Lane......those were born TO play.

  • amazing stevie ray vaughn is amazing

  • holy fucking shit!

    badass

  • got this on dvd.

  • which dvd is this?

  • SRV live in Austin Texas. It shows his first and last appearence on the show Austin City Limits.

  • Oh, Thanks

  • What do u think i ment I HATE GUITAR HERO i was making fun of it

  • AWESOME!!!!

  • lol, guitar hero is gay and lame.

  • @TopRamenKickAss

Step 1: Hand a kid who plays Guitar Hero an actual guitar.

Step 2: Step back and laugh.

  • @TopRamenKickAss The up side is it's inroducing people to some awesome music. For example I discovered buckethead through GHII.

  • @TopRamenKickAss

It's glame? Wow, not very often something is that bad.

  • guitar hero is only a stupid game ... dont talk about this when you're watchin stevie ray vaughan

  • @RedGuitars94 You are my hero for saying this, thank you

  • @RedGuitars94 absolutely agree

  • Comment removed

  • thats some damn good pickin behind the back

  • watching him do that makes me wanna stop playing guitar wer not worthy wer not worthy

  • wayne´s world!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • That's a very stupid thing to say, and i'm sure Stevie would agree with me.

  • chil out man i was just joking wat is i ment was stevie is just one of the best

  • thats the stuff

  • Greatest guitar EVER !

  • Man just enjoy the music...what is wrong with some of you? Appreciate that we can just hear someone play like that.

  • hey i dint start it i looked back a few comments and someone compared malsteen to srv ijust replied my oppinon to him

  • The best part is between 0:00 and 0:59

  • Malmsteen`s guitarmasturbation is

    horrible to hear and watch.

I`d rather listen to a seagull screams for the rest of my life.

Do not compare him to SRV again.

  • you cant compare SRV to malmsteen, you just cant....

  • wait...someone compared malmsteen to stevie?? That isn't even worth commenting on...

  • malmsteen is shit compared srv

  • dont you ever compare malmsteen to srv again. what an insult to srv

  • no offense to srv

  • this is so good. So talented

  • Is this Austin City Limits?

  • Yes.

  • its the solo to texas flood isnt it?

  • yes. yes it is

  • he's like a top student from Hendrix' cool school. as opposed to Petrucci or Vai who just went to Berkley.

  • 0:01

  • Lol, he plays his guitar behind is back. :3

  • That is a mean solo. That solo is so powerful I wish there were more people that played like that and I am not talkin behind their back i mean that soulful with their hearts. SRV is still gotta be my favorite guitarist. Yngwie Malmsteen cant touch playing like SRV.

  • ok lets get this straight. Malmsteen plays so fast so amazing BUT. He has no feeling. Stevie Ray Vaughan played fast so amazing and he played with feeling. He could also play with his teeth, behind his back, behind his head etc. Malmsteen is plays like a machine. Which ultimately is boring. I would rather hear a slow player with feeling than a scale maestro with no heart in it. Malmsteen can play anything but SRV can make you feel it.

  • I totally agree, Malmsteen just plays fast is all about showing off. Stevie is purely all about feeling in his solos, just like real blues players.

  • to strangemongo88.

    john mayer doesn't do drugs,

    listen to him.

  • lol wtf?

its common knowledge that mayer loves the ganja almost as much as snoop..

  • It's also common knowledge that mayer likes it in the bum.

  • Drugs teach most bands and palyers

Just sit around in a studio with a band doing speed for days and you'll come up with original stuff too

  • Comment removed

  • haha, dumbass

SRV was only 15 years old when Jimi hendrix died. before you comment about who learned what from who, go find out about it first before you try to sound like a SRV know it all fan.

dont get me wrong he is an awesome guitarist, but he didn't teach jimi hendrix.

  • Drugs taught Jimi :P

  • but, that change the fact that he is better than jimi

  • shut up. you know nothing. you embarass yourself in front of the world. srv never met hendrix.

  • your amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • this whole concert at austin city limits was amazing .. stevie is the fucken best !

  • youre boring

  • ......................are you fucking serious man. where's your soul? I hope you get ass raped by Satan himself.

  • ima big ass metal fan too and i think metallica and children of bodom are the shit

but realistically they cant compare to SRV

that dudes incredible, stop fighting about the two genres its retarted

  • truly the best! blows my mind everytime,

  • if you dont like SRV im amazed, but if you just disregard his amazing soul and talent, you are just plain stupid. no metallica or avenged sevenfold crap kids my age listen to could ever compare to SRV albert king and the other blues greats.

  • I agree that srv is the greatest guitarist - better than any other blues, rock, metal ones. but I disagree hugely with you calling Metallica crap. They're not just like avenged sevenfold - they've sold over 100 million albums and are all brilliant musicians

  • Nothing there but the truth.

  • no way he plays guitar but maybe he just doesnt understand. it doesnt take very much skill to play really really fast, just loads of practice. i know most people(including me) wouldnt be able to practice enough but if someone did practice enough then they could play that fast. but you cant practice the feeling and soul SVR has. no one can imitate it and that takes real skill

  • yup cause if you listen to all stevie songs and have watched all the dvds' not once did he play the same song the same exact way. which made him brilliant.. its all about fealings and emotion. thats what music is for..

  • OMFG!! I love the spin at the beginning :O

    Also 0:0 to 0:59 rules!

    And BTW... chaldoantwan18, u suck!

  • The thing about SRV is that he took the raw emotion from the 40s and the 50s and he modernised it. So not only is his playing face-melting, it's packed with raw emotion and spirit. Stevie Ray was a phenomenal guitarist and shouldnt be compared to anyone as that would be an insult to his memory.

Yes, some metallica does have soul, but you cannot compare their soul to the music of emotion, Blues is about feeling, life. Nothing compares to that...

  • Anybody who does not appreciate Stevie Ray Vaughn's ability and soul either doesn't play guitar, doesn't listen to soulful music, or is completely worthless at life.

  • absolutely agreed.

  • So you really dont like this stuff...and you play guitar? Dude, are you actually listening? There isnt a metal guitarist alive that can match this guys improv...no matter how many notes you play.

  • erm.. van halen? michael angelo, zakk, i could go on but i dont think i need to?

  • Hell, why dont you chuck malmstien in there aswell. He plays fast, yeah, awesome. SRV has souuuul, brother. But hell, its all opinion. Im sure van Halen would agree with me on what I say, though.

P.s. try not to end sentences that arent questions, with question marks. The end of grammar is nigh...

  • srv can do more with one note than michael angelo, malmsteen etc can do with a whole sequence of notes

  • you cant honestly think any of them are better than SRV? i hugely respect the three of them, because they are really nice guys and not huge ego dickheads like malmsteen, but their playing just doesn't match up to this. eddie is up there though

  • obviously your an idiot.

  • haha good comeback. you really proved me wrong

  • No but seriously, metal is benal and fruitless

Bland and technical. No musicality. Just maths

  • Continue to fan the hatred between the two genres why don't you. You're just as bad as metal fans. Let everyone listen to what they want. Stop being whiny.

  • Haha. You don't like blues but you like metal? These are the typical kids nowadays. For example, they like John Mayer but dislike Frusciante.

  • im 14, but i only like john for his blues. i dont like his modern rock love song acoustic crap i really dont. frusciante and the whole band red hot chili peppers i find rather overrated but frusciante is quite brilliant

  • metal is the best but nothing beats srv! he is the man! all those metal bands u listen to have guitarists the probably at one point in time were influenced by srv. and i trust me i listen to metallica to but srv will beat kirk hammet

  • It's totally true, totally. I agree. Anybody who does not appreciate Stevie Ray Vaughn's ability and soul either doesn't play guitar, doesn't listen to soulful music and is completely worthless at life. By my opinion people who say such things are retards that generally know nothing about music.

  • amen

  • texas flood definitely not an easy song to play normally he just played it perfectly behind his back lol

  • oh fuck yeah,.

  • YAAAAAA!!!!

  • this guy is amazing!!

    R.I.P. Stevie

  • Lol look at the peoples face's at 0:36

  • i would give my left nut to bring him back haha

  • Me too, I bet alot of people would.

  • I whole heartedly agree

  • This is awesome, I would have loved to seen the whole video though. Thank you for posting.

  • lol monica your father eat STEVE RAY ?

    lol
