Hi, I have a iphone 3gs on o2 3.1.3 baseband 05.11.09 and i have unlocked it with ultrasn0w, it installs fine but when but a t mobile sim card in it i cant call 150 but i can send MMS + the internet on it, Have any ideas?

@liverpoolatnight yes it sounds like you have a barred/blacklisted/stolen phone. Was it bought second hand?

@liverpoolatnight No it's a well known way to determine a blacklisted phone: data services will still work but GSM services such as SMS and phone calls will fail. When you try and make a call you will just get three beeps and the call will fail.

If you paid through Paypal you should begin filing a claim.

hi there m8, i have an iphone 3G and ive tried every single method to get it on all networks, ive tried this method countless times but still no luck.

after jailbreaking it i do sometimes get my network running fine ( Orange sim card ) ... ive even bought a rebel simcard which has worked once .. the prob is when i get the network up and running if i reboot the phone the signal goes away for good

i need a permanent fix .. any help would be most appreciated

OK, for those having problems you need to check your baseband: you MUST be running baseband 02.28.00. Check your baseband by going to SETTINGS, GENERAL, ABOUT. The baseband is right there at the bottom.

If your baseband is LOWER you simply need to upgrade your iphone software and re-jaibreak, if it's HIGHER then it means you upgraded to 2.2.1 via itunes and for the time being you are screwed as Yellowsn0w doesn't work on the 02.30.03 baseband yet. You will have to buy a proxy sim card.

thnx for the reply m8, i do(did) have baseband v 02.28.00. still had no luck so i got soo pissed off i bought a "Rebel sim card" it worked the first time put it in but then i rebooted the iphone to see if it was 100% but no luck (lost the signal again)

now i have firmware 2.2.1 to see if it made a diff but hasnt so now im basically stuck with a very expensive ipod touch :P

I used quickpwn which I now learned means I cant get yellowsn0w. It looks like I have the exate same features. Am I missing out on anything by using quickpwn?

Quickpwn is a jailbreaking tool for mac and pc that adds the Cydia programme to your iPhone. It is ESSENTIAL to use Quickpwn (or another jailbreaking app) if you are to subsequently unlock your iPhone 3g. Upon opening Cydia for the first time on your iPhone you will be prompted to install some updates, after doing this you will find Yellowsn0w by using the search bar in Cydia. Just install and away you go. There is no need to follow the steps in my video now.

Check on Cydia to see if you have the latest update to Yellowsn0w, there is now no need to follow ant of the steps in this video, other than installing Yellowsn0w. BE SURE THAT YOU HAVE NOT INSTALLED THE LATEST IPHONE UPDATE ON ITUNES. This update upgrades the phone's baseband and stops the unlock working. your software version should be 2.2 NOT 2.2.1

hey iv had my iphone 3g working with uk tmobile up untill today i think i switched it off and then when it came on the sim wont work keeps saying sim sim falure or sim invalid also i could never get the net to work with out wifi

This video is a little out of date now. If you buy a phone (as I did) from the o2 shop simply put any old o2 sim inside and activate. Then 'restore' to firmware 2.2. Remove the sim prior to this. Once completed jailbreak with quickpwn. Add the yellowsn0w repo to cydia. Install yellowsn0w, insert the sim for the network you want to use and reboot. If for any reason the network isn't found try reinstalling yellowsn0w

For quickpwn you need to actually have the itunes restore file (.ipsw) to hand. A google of the term...itunes 2.2 .ipsw should find you it. Also google search for... quickpwn 2.2 jailbreak and download quickpwn. Once you have the restore file on your desktop simply hold the shift key whilst pressing the 'restore' button in itunes to open an explorer window, allowing you to select the .ipsw file and begin restoring. Ensure there is no sim in at any point during the restore/jailbreak process

This can happen if you have an iPhone install that was previously activated and synced with an 02 sim card with iTunes. Cancel all automatic syncing, remove the sim and restore the phone through iTunes, then jailbreak with quickpwn. After adding the yellowsn0w repository from the iPhone dev site, installing it and restarting you should be good to go with no more invalid sim issues. This fixed the problem for me.

hey,i just got the vodafone sim card into the iphone 3g and it says "No Service" and then when i go to select carrier and tap Vodafone IE it says "your selected cellular network is restricted" i have tried this on a pay monthly vodafone sim and nothing happened at all,i also tried it with a different PAYG sim on vodafone and it worked apart from calling someone! please wb

Yellowsn0w has been updated so you shouldn't have to do the Terminal part anymore: just put the sim in, turn your phone on, turn flight mode on, count slowly to five and switch flight mode back off and you should be good to go
