We find Daisy prostrated on the ground trying to pick up the shoe, demonstrating what great lengths people will go to for superficial objects. Once Conner has her shoe though, she leaves, showing how the embracing of superficial objects causes us all to leave what is important. Then Conner's violent return exemplifies how the two ideals of classical values and superficial ones cannot seem to mix. Beautiful
