It was a clever idea. I think the concept was to prove that people are influenced dramatically by image, rather than content. When you listen to the songs on Cold Lake, they aren't that bad. The production is lightweight (indeed on th re-recorded versions on parched you can see how the songs improve with the heavier production). Indeed the songs stand up next to Vanity/Nemesis, which was just a heavier version of Cold Lake in many ways.

Had this concert on VHS tape back in the day. The power just isn't there.  A few cool songs but ruined by Tom's glam singing and Oliver Amberg's horrible "soloing." Ditch this concert and find some underground footage from the 80s.

From an objective point of view, i consider the "glam comments" kinda biased, cold lake music is not THAT glam, considering all the other glam bands that were at that time, nor image nor sound. Anyway, that "little velvet" song sounds like Kiss of the 80s.

I saw the real CF rip this venue wide open in '87 and Hammersmith Palais in '85.

I stayed at home for this one though and judging by this footage I made the right choice. CF was my favorite band, and seeing them reduced to this almost brings tears to my eyes, even after all these years.

Celtic Frost is a good band Cold Lake was dark to other glam albums. I still liked it, Celtic Frost makes good music even when it is glam metal. They are fun to listen to, but I did not like the new cd that came out in the 2000's But all the other stuff like the first five albums I like the same no favorite. PS this was a cool live :)

But this, 'guitar player', Oliver Amberg makes my ears bleed harder than listening to any 'modern', 80's sellout glam metal band. Back when Yahoo! Had celebrity guest chats, Tom was on there promoting his CF biography. I asked him why Oliver Amberg had been kicked out. He said at the time Oliver had a serious problem with drugs and lost control of himself on more than one occasion.

This is frikkin' HILARIOUS and i say this as a long time huge fan of Celtic Frost! Man, these versions of the classics are pretty bad but this is still pretty cool too see for what it is . I HATED 'cold lake' when i 1st heard it but it grew on me a little several years later . I just consider it a "heavy glam/metal album" . I just hate the fact Tom Warrior used the CF name for it but it is/was HIS band! Thanks for posting this man! All the BEST!

I believe in the redeeming qualities that CF and thee Warrior were trying to "adequately" portray from ITP onwards. Give it some time and it will be re-discovered. Exist various theories about "the switch" after the -To Mega therion-. Some are feasible; other one are downright fanciful.

In fact 3 Discs were promised: A real " Into The Pandemonium"; "Necronomicon"; and "Monumentum". But these were never consummated.

They were Icons; Epics; Unique. But this....

Despite being Celtic Frost worst album, I still really like Cold Lake. I do have to say it's one of the better Glam Metal albums out there. I mean I understand it's not as good as Morbid Tales or any of their other albums, but I love it as much as there other albums. I just wish they reissue this album.

I myself am a very fond fan of Celtic Frost, and I can proudly say I appreciate Cold Lake as much as any other CF album. I think the problem is all these people who compare it to Celtic Frost's other stuff and disapprove because of the fact that it's a sellout. If you look at it in the form of a glam album instead of that one thrash band that went glam, it really is a good album with some great riffs. Good on you for putting this vid up, and shame on those trolling it for no good reason.
