  • what i want give, if they sold this in boston mass, and my mom at the time would buy new techie things .... ohh, i want to see that day when i own a plug in car.

  • lol electric and hybrid car ads always go something like this: you might look like a p*ssy driving this underpowered stupid machine, but at least its fuel efficient. such bs.

  • @T0RK well, to be honest, i never ever needed 2400 horsepower in my car. i drive in the city, at speed limit. if the car can meet the limit and my range and price, i will buy it

  • if they will sell it in europe, i might consider getting driver license

  • @TechPro3 toyota is releasing one in 2012, check if they will sell it near you.

  • At least this wasn't as negative as the Ev1 commercial where they made it look it runs on human soul. Still what the fuck?

  • Crappy ad. But, of course, those who've seen the documentary "Who Killed The Electric Car?" already know that the auto companies deliberately created these dreary & depressing ads to discourage people from buying the EVs.

  • What a shitty ad.

  • i read somewhere that there are only 800 units still working

  • @subzero92MK Since they only sold 300 to the public I'd say that's impressive!! lol

  • @WDPlumbing ASD really?i read that on a website

  • @subzero92MK A total of 1,485 were leased and/or sold in California to meet the state’s mandate for Zero-emissions vehicle.[2] As of the second half of 2010 there are almost 750 units still in use.[3] ... off the wikipedia page

  • @brian9827 what about the other ones?

  • @subzero92MK well. in the who killed the electric car movie, some where trucked off to a closed environment, where people tried to stop them, so i guess some of them where crushed by toyota because the gas companies bought the battery patent, and i would guess some that where sold had been in accidents, or some where probably sent off to museums, like the EV1 was, hence the low amount of the total made is on the road.

  • @brian9827 they should pay attention with those cars, i mean, in the future it could be an icon of the firs electric cars

  • @subzero92MK well, i dont want to be wise, but, electric cars was popular duriing the gas revolution on the 1900's, but then the gas engine came and beat the electrics, then california made the man date, and the ev1, rav4, s10, and ranger etc came out as modern electric cars. i do hope that the ev1 in the museums can be made in to working ev1's again to test drive what could be all over the usa, but many people will never know how it feels ='[

  • @brian9827 yep but in the future, petrol will be over and then we have to use other kind of engines. anyway rav4 could be a toyota historic car for the future

  • I never saw this commercial in the South.

  • A bit lackluster and somewhat dull.

  • This is a terrible commercial. The announcer doesn't even sound like he wants to be there!

  • @yourwifecalledagain, Jeff Goldblum always sounds disinterested.

  • electric logical.

  • Most unappealing advertisement ever!

  • I wish I had this car. It has got to be one of the greatest cars Toyota ever made. The ad said that this car won't impress your coworkers, you bet it would.

  • I never saw this commercial EVER on the east coast. Why do they play it down and say it won't impress coworkers or get you a better table in a restaurant? So negative about their own product.

  • I never saw this commercial in California!

  • @giantquesadilla you never saw this commercial because big oil companies destroyed toyotas rv4 and the gmcs ev1 but this next electric vehicles are here to stay fuck co2 bitches lol

  • They were not being negative. It is trying to say none of the impressive stuff in most automobiles don't count, the music soared at the end to show you how good the product was. But it could have been marketed better anyway.

  • Come on, the music was sad, the remarks weren't constructive, all it was missing was a gray cloud lingering over the rav4.

  • A bit negative, but they could have made it more like the Prius Commercial being aired now.

  • Agreed.

  • They commercial is very sad... it wont impress your coworkers?? you bet they will!! :D

Sad music.. sad air.. why??:O Why not show them the acceleration and stuff.. :D

  • lets cry together!!!, the solution for an electric car was real!!! 1995!!! why GM sold the patent??? what idiotic people sells the golden answer to zero emmisions for cars????

The GM thinks we are stupid and if it goes to bankruptucy we all be sad.... GO HELL GM!!!!!.

  • It was the oil lobby groups who forced the California Air Resources Board to refused give the pass on low emmision. "CARB eliminated most of the Zero Emissions Vehicle requirement, substituting a greater number of partial zero-emissions vehicles (PZEVs) to meet the requirement. " AND "Toyota discontinued the RAV4 EV program one day after the passing of new air-quality requirements by CARB."

It was oil lobby group who cut support and funding for this SUV.

  • if GM did a commercial exactly like this for the EV1 im pretty sure more people would have bought it

  • Tom Hanks and his E-Box Electric Car Part 1

    watch?v=Xw7zNrDzfwo

  • What is the cost new?

    From the web FWIW

"Want an electric car, but can't afford the pricey Tesla Roadster? Can't get your hands on the electric Mini Cooper? Having a hard time finding one of the other elusive electric cars available today? eBay has a deal for you: a 2002 Toyota RAV4 EV. It's got 45,500 miles, tops out at about 78-81 mph (depending on the weather) and can fit easily into a daily commuting lifestyle of 70 miles or so..."

  • According to the ad, "The RAV4 EV is a practical and functional SUV and the unique battery placement does not compromise the storage space. Unlike some electric vehicles, this car has room for 5 passengers, plus cargo space in the rear. The dashboard is just like a "regular car" and the amenities are similar. This car offers heat & air, power windows & door locks, Anti-Lock Brakes, Dual Front Air Bags, AM/FM/CD Player and much more!" "buy it now" $62k ::eBay RAV4 EV via ::AutoblogGreen

  • Too expensive...there must be more options for alternatives than this.

Gasoline is going up everytime Dick cheney sneezes.

Up 3x's in one month $3.60---it hurts, it hurts bad!

  • Well...you can't say it's expensive when the batteries last 100 000+ miles without any decrease in performance. I know it sounds too good to be true but ask the lucky owners.

  • I totally agree with you. By the way gas is not $3.90 as of May 27.

I wish I had more time to reply more fully but I'm pressed at the moment. Basically, I feel there's much development occurring on alternatives---it's just not getting that much mainstream press. When I get time, I'll dig up a video that's a good example. Also, I'll post a really interesting video that "LOOKS" to good to be true but the fact remains, IT IS!

    Cya

  • Hey 62K was the price that people offered because many people wanted the rav4. It was more like some statement for the die hard EV lovers. That drove the price up.

    The new price was lower.

  • Correct. That's more than double anyone paid for the car new.
