I just bought a pair of Numark ttxusb tables and they are bad ass!!! I was sick of using the technic 1200's tables. But i also use the Denon 3700 digital cd tables as well. Unfortunately everything is going cd,digital these days. For all the new dj's out there buy & learn on cd tables. Trust me thats where its at.
It's a problem for you, I guess. I'm noting that you didn't capitalizwhere you should have at the beginning of your post. Check yourself first, Officer Caps.
MY FRIEND. I'M NOT A DJ, SO I CAN'T COMMENT ON THE TECHNICAL ASPECTS OR EQUIP., BUT I CAN SAY THAT I SCOUR YOUTUBE FOR GOOD BREAKBEAT AND THIS MIX IS IN THE TOP 10% OF WHAT I'VE HEARD. I'VE BEEN LISTENING TO BREAKBEAT/JUNGLE/DNB, ETC. SINCE 95. YOU HAVE TALENT. NICE WORK. NUFF SAID.
hahahahah dude I have that same album! Track name is block rockin beats. If you flip it over to the house remix side, it goes good with house plant records -)
Nothing wrong with mixing nothing but breaks. I agree with some other posters. Good mix, keep it up. and your sound is your sound, not no one else's (this goes for mixes or producing, don't matter)!
Nice mix, but If u can mix that good after 1 week, i'm guessing you spent the whole 168 hours of the week doing nothing but mixing, no sleeping, eating or anything!
i havent been djing very long at all. and im 14 and dont exactly have the best turntables so i just use a mixer, speakers, and a laptop and prerecord the stuff of a dj software. do you think people would still hire me if i prerecord it? and if i dont scratch or anything
@WonderxBreadx they might hire u if you're good enough ;) but it depends on what country are you from, and what are the laws there about hiring under 16 years olds ;)
@WonderxBreadx No chance m8, you need to practice a lot longer before anyone will hire you. What would they hire you to do, play a tape, anyone can do that? Learning to mix and scratch doesn't come overnight, it looks easy and the basics are but there are far more dj's out there today than 20 yrs ago and competition is fierce. Spend at least a couple of yrs before you do this properly, thats enough time to build up skills and know whether you want to pursue it. U def need decent decks though.
@WonderxBreadx Yeah, maybe give it a try, but I don't think you will get very far with that. I think you should start DJing with freeware (Virtual DJ or sth) and when you think it's really something you want to do for more than just a few weeks, you should get "real" dj equipment and start partizing. And THEN you should go to the clubs.
never start on virtual DJ, seeing visuals will never make you a DJ, train your ears is the only way to learn, I started on a soundlab all in 1 junk and slowly moved up n up to pioneers... i use programmes to structure mixes, but never mix from the softeware
NEVER pre-record anything, always have a rough idea of tunes that u know will go with other tunes, n soon enough you'll be able to mix anything to anything, good luck
@WonderxBreadx kid, imma tell u this. if you prerecord your mix, whats the point of you being there. your not djing if you prerecord mixes. your just playing songs at that point. learn to dj before you try being a dj
Very nice :) I've been djing for about a month now, i've posted my first breakbeat mix as a responce tell us what you think please :) Btw, i dont video myself doing it as i use a hercules midi controller, so its not as intersting to watch as decks :P Cheers, Mike
no metter how long how in what way you did it...for me it sounds awesome and i love it....even couse all of the tracks aer favs :P...wicked job and congrats mate ;)
Nice job! you know about music I can see try arranging your tables in "Battle" formation makes it alot easier and keeps from knockin your needles out!
he bin mixing longer than a week. Its one thing knowing music like being classicly trained n then being able to jump on a set of decks and beatmatch - but this guy is matching perfectly, he's using the eq's to a high stanard, and most importantly he's bringing in his mixes in at the right times and he knows where everything is on his mixer/turntables! no hesitation, looks very comfortable. He's said 1 week cuz he dont realize how good he is, and he's worried ppl will say its sh*t! sick mix mate!
no man! thats a week :) but i read a lot about mixing b4 starting.. and i've heard a lot of bad comments about it from experieced DJs.. and how can u say that i mixed at the right times if they are all mixed at the breaks of the tracks? ) bigup
lol maaan i dont care if your mixing in the breaks, it works! and it works very very well! bringing tunes in the right places means bringing it in to any part of the track, intro, outro, breaks, drops whatever - the right place is the place where you can make a sick transition or cut that will keep the mood/pace and stand out as a mix. Too many dj's go by the book, maybe mixing in the breaks for a whole hour is bad, cuz the crowd needs breakdowns here and there, but ten minutes is cool man!
He might played music before he started to dj? My brother is a professional classical musician and he could beatmatch and mix a bit the first time he touched my decks - although in his case he had been working as a sound recordist and engineer for people at the university.
if u have bitcomet installed, right click anywhere on this page, choose 'download media files', and download this video, later u can convert it to mp3 using ojosoft total video converter, or somethin like that
so you're saying you could pull off that mix with an eight track and a tape recorder?
just teasing. talent is the main element for sure. Good equipment does not hurt though. I think a lot of dj's now a days are using a laptop and turntables that don't play records.
@djfunkshowkid this is extremely true, HOWEVER. i would like to say I've owned some stanton str8 60's or 80's or whatever, I can't remember but the pitch control was HORRIBLE! and I didn't know it untill I tried mixing on my friend's 1200's.....and about 2 years of issues I thought were my lack of skill, suddenly got out of the way.
sick tunes but really the mixing isn't all that. it's too sloppy when u mix in tunes, you need to work with the levels more effectively and bear in mind the master volume as you're mixing in tunes
so its not like tht on all decks?? cus like as soon as i try to drop the second beat after get it just the right tempo, it fukin goes all over the place again! ow wel =)
Hey, don't forget that that's the Screwface mix of Insecticide - Wicked tune. Grimey bootleg of Block Rockin beats to. I bloody loathe numarks!!! BPM drifts so much on those things. Great Mix dude, but when I checked out your profile you have mixes on their added 8 months ago? Why say after one week of mixing? I could be wrong as when you added it, but it seems pretty obvious this isnt one week of mixing.
this one is posted on may 2007 thats when i've stargted mixing.. and the one i posted 8 months ago.. i think is a bit better(double drops and stuff) this was after a year maybe.. and i even updated my gear.. do i have to explain this?
and now that my knowlege about mixin is a bit higher i even know why this one is so good even that i just started - cuz i somehow (i think luck) got them mixed in the right key.. perhaps :D
good mix. little tip: try sum more basic hip hop moves like "stop" to cut off a break and backspins and basic scratches to hit off a new mix. it gives a little skillz feel to it and is not hard to do. keep it up!
good mix and deffantly good tunes i have nearly all of them but dnt rush like the beginig tune u started like at the second drop :s just dnt rush people will love to hear the whole tune
2. i dunno what kind of a beginner u r, but i will recommend you some "tutorials for the the complete beginners" of the guy named ellaskins here on youtube, its difficult to find the tuts you need here - so u better check his site out!
I got almost same turntables + mixer, cost me 600$, and my dream came through too :)) By the way, have you been to any party with your equipment already?
been to a party with a line-up of 5 DJs and they've got their own gear already - and that was in another country.. so couldn't bring mine if needed anyway..
i'm mixing since about 10 years now and from my point of view: this is ridiculous, one week? amazing!! way to go,mate...you're gettin' there, you've got serious skills ;)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
dude u have to touch the platter are u stupid ??? unless u cue it in perfectly everytime ,, and dont giv me the bullshit coz u obviously dont ,,let the mix time blend longer ,,make two songs 1 song for a while ,,sick style ,,,ok i ben djing for like 3 months at pointblank london dj school ,, and ive ben practicing every single day wen im not producing ,, and ill obviously rip u to smitheriens ,,but i guees ur alright for a week ,,although ive seen way faster progress ,, namely myself ,,,ps nice
well i've been learning all by myself, ni dj schools, just some tutorials from ellaskins..
as for touching the platter: its not the matter of being stupid or not, its different techniques, thats how i learned to mix and thats how i do it.. as for CD decks i do touch the jog-wheel, not 4 vynil..
very good man !!

I got almost same turntables + mixer, cost me 600$, and my dream came through too :)) By the way, have you been to any party with your equipment already?
semjonek 3 years ago
been to a party with a line-up of 5 DJs and they've got their own gear already - and that was in another country.. so couldn't bring mine if needed anyway..

This comment has received too many negative votes show
dude u have to touch the platter are u stupid ??? unless u cue it in perfectly everytime ,, and dont giv me the bullshit coz u obviously dont ,,let the mix time blend longer ,,make two songs 1 song for a while ,,sick style ,,,ok i ben djing for like 3 months at pointblank london dj school ,, and ive ben practicing every single day wen im not producing ,, and ill obviously rip u to smitheriens ,,but i guees ur alright for a week ,,although ive seen way faster progress ,, namely myself ,,,ps nice

well i've been learning all by myself, ni dj schools, just some tutorials from ellaskins..
as for touching the platter: its not the matter of being stupid or not, its different techniques, thats how i learned to mix and thats how i do it.. as for CD decks i do touch the jog-wheel, not 4 vynil..
thanx anyway!
