There is no "global average temperature" because all temps are local. An average is not a temp. You can have 100 in Chicago and -100 in Antarctica on the same day and get an average of 0 or you can have both places reading 0 on the same day. In both cases, the average would be 0, which would tell you nothing about reality.

Yes, I agree. We need to clean the coal and only mine coal that is clean so miners don't get black lung anymore. Wind is great it is free, but it sucks when it doesn't blow. Solar is a good idea, the Sun is full of energy, we need to create something like that here. Geothermal will work, we need more holes in the ground to let Earth's heat into the atmosphere. Nuclear power. All nations have a right to be a nuclear power, for energy purposes naturally. Naturally.

Hey! In the winter my thermostat is usually between 60-63 F and in the summer it's set between 76-80. I usually keep only 1 or 2 lights on at a time. I conserve because I can. However, tonight, I kicked the heat up to 69 and have turned my lights on all over the house to shed light on the global warming hoax. At 9:30, I will return to my regular conservative lifestyle. The lights will go off, and the thermostat will once again drop to 60 F. Good night.
For earth day, I turned all the lights and appliances on. I put the AC and the furnace both on to fight it out. I left my car running in the driveway all day and threw recyclables in the regular garbage. I ate beans and farted myself unconscious with methane.

kaboobala-the earth doesn't need saving. Our planet is never warm all over; when the northern hemisphere has summer, the southern hemisphere has winter. There is no "global average temperature" because all temps are local. An average is not a temp. You can have 100 in Chicago and -100 in Antarctica on the same day and get an average of 0 or you can have both places reading 0 on the same day. In both cases, the average would be 0, which would tell you nothing about reality.

Yes, I agree. We need to clean the coal and only mine coal that is clean so miners don't get black lung anymore. Wind is great it is free, but it sucks when it doesn't blow. Solar is a good idea, the Sun is full of energy, we need to create something like that here. Geothermal will work, we need more holes in the ground to let Earth's heat into the atmosphere. Nuclear power. All nations have a right to be a nuclear power, for energy purposes naturally. Naturally.

CO2 levels have not had such an impact in the past because the levels were not as high as they are now.
Also, the industrial revolution took place in the late 18th century and lasted until the mid-late 19th century. That would be before the first part of the 20th century.

Hey! In the winter my thermostat is usually between 60-63 F and in the summer it's set between 76-80. I usually keep only 1 or 2 lights on at a time. I conserve because I can. However, tonight, I kicked the heat up to 69 and have turned my lights on all over the house to shed light on the global warming hoax. At 9:30, I will return to my regular conservative lifestyle. The lights will go off, and the thermostat will once again drop to 60 F. Good night.

The place your children will live in and their children and so forth. Its a way for strangers to become one, under the belief of WE can change the WORLD. I'd rather see everybody stop eating meat for an evening.
It would be more fitting considering that, if people were to put a stop to this selfish, monstrous abusing, killing and eating of animals, virtually every negative aspect of life on this planet would begin to improve.

it's true you shouldn't believe everything you see or hear, but you must understand that there is an impact, truth is, I HOPE YOU ARE RIGHT and there is no such thing as global warming, but hope can't always be a fact. if you won't shut 'em off for an hour try 10 minutes, come on, do something (nothing will be on TV)

I do not doubt for a second that we should be working on ways to improve on how we get energy. I say: Do it all! Nuclear power, Clean Coal, Geothermal, Hyrdo Electric, Wind, Solar.
But instead, here we are, holding one big "Kum-ba-ya" session with NOTHING really being achieved. It's a feel good thing, that does nothing worthwhile in reality.
Also, Don't worry Killamenjarro, I've done something better before Earth hour came about: You can call it "Earth Weekend" (I however, call it Camping :) )
