Both are freaking great. But we have to remember Prince excels at funk and Mayer excels at blues. Prince would kill Mayer at funky playing and John Mayer would completely blow Prince out of the water with his blues. They both have soul, style, and technicalities with their playing. They're simply just different.

OK I just listened to Out of My Mind from Live in LA, and the Superbowl 2007 press conference performance by Prince. I am a fan of both guys, but JM has some work to do to catch up with Prince, both technically and musically, on the guitar.
