I SAW THIS MOVIE IN A THEATER IN MANHATTEN ON A HOT SUMMER DAY IN 1983 THOSE WERE THE DAYS BAD SPECIAL EFFECTS BUT WHAT CAN U EXPECT IT WAS THE 80SSSS VHSSS
This was how you make a B grade movie. Yeah, it was cheap, but it was competent. Friday the 13th,Halloween,and,there were many from the late 70's through the early 80's that had that combination of thrills, chills and humor,to get us in the movie houses for some fun.
yeah there was a thing called missiles and jets and anti aircraft guns and did i mention missiles? but they decided to plop a couple mexicans with smgs ontop of a skyscraper. makes sense
Just watched this and... eh. Not really what I was expecting. The creature and stop-motion are decent enough (no Ray Harryhausen, but still good, though Q should have had a more feathery appearance), but I found it difficult to follow the story. They also seemed to focus on the wrong characters at the wrong times. Q also didn't get enough screen time, and was killed relativly easily. -_-
Overall, I give this film a... C+; not too bad, but could still have been A LOT better.
I saw it on the big screen as part of cult film marathon in Tucson a few yrs back. I love the aged reels they used, the water had a red hue to it. Pretty kick ass on the big screen. If you ever see it on a playlist near you...make it a point to see it. You won't be sorry at all.
The aerial shots used around the Twin Towers and the rest of the buildings, are out of this world.
Michael Moriarty plays piano and sings in this film. The style of music sounded like some off-shoot of jazz. What ever it was; it soundeded pretty cool.
@FearlessHQ "im just saying the dragon killing the buildings was the real 9/11" the what what? Could you rephrase that? And by the way... I was just kidding...
@FearlessHQ So you mean that the Dragon, destroying the building, was the reason thousands died in Empire State building? You say it's a movie AND you say the dragon was the real reason of 9/11... Make up your mind. Is this real or not? And by the way 9/11 didn't happend it the year 1982. You from the US should know this...!
fine cast, Moriarty is outstanding, really offbeat characters, terrific dialogue make this an outstanding addition to the monsters on the loose genera. Loose, hip and decidedly different.
Just bought this film, and watched it. It's really excellent - cleverly filmed and atmospheric. Lovely looking monster. I was taken with its rather unceromnial demise.
Heavens to Ed Wood Jr! Over the top & cheesy special effects...but what a rip roaring & rootin tootin trailer! I saw part of this movie last year on a cable channel. Oddball stuff to say the least....a bit unerving to see a counterculture fella like the late David Carradine as a world weary & cynical cop! THANKS for posting this! Awesome 80's schlock! :)
@Skulldini Well shit !! I didn't mean to post that three fuckin times !! It wont let me disspose of it either ! Oh well, please pardon that. Dont know how that happend.
Actually, the movie was weird. A worshipers cult was sacrificing people for this demon to live. It just appeared and ate anyone that was off ground level. I wont spoil the end but, the weirdest part was when the statue of liberty was moved!! If you like weird movies about legendary creatures thats a beast checkout "Razorback" that was a good 1.
This was probably the first movie I remembered. Of course I was 5 at that time. I don't understand what they were saying but I like the creature and the toilet and the water fountain that I could not reach and the popcorn. hahah! I was 5 I miss that night so memorable.
The Winged Serpent indeed rules! Great trailer for a great B monster movie, which amazingly plays as an almost standard NYC cop film, with a flying serpent of course, hee hee! Nice cast and those old stop motion animation FX are nice to see after the usual overdone CGI today. Must see for horror fans and certainly Larry Cohen fans but it is quirky. Thanks for posting!
David Carradine and Richard Roundtree are a film duo who could have done something really great... so how did they end up in this picture?!?

Well it isn't even close to Dragon Slayer, but it look's okay, the Winged monster has a dumb looking head, and wasn't detailed enough to me.
