  • Great cameo by Popeye the Sailor ("I ain't no boxer")... ;p

  • The Orlons version of Not Me is much better than Gary US Bonds. This was the last top 20 hit they had and it went to number 12.

  • Fantistic...

  • Great song one of their best.

  • who is that lead singer? Can she ever sing. The best I've ever heard

  • Excellent sound!

  • It's great to remember a different cover that sounds so cool!

  • it's such a shame that the orlons never got the recognition and money they deserved.

    MONEY HUNGRY CAPTIALISTS!

  • Just caught the Orlons on a PBS special from Pittsburgh; classic. It's such a shame that this philly group never gots its due.

  • @fran9860 They had more than one top 5 hit in the early 60s ~ not too shabby

  • This is my favorite song. This is one of the best songs ever out. Love it.

  • My favorite by the Orlons. Great music.

  • Same music was used on Gary U.S. Bonds song called "New Orleans". Check it out on YouTube by searching under Gary U.S. Bonds.

  • @radiomusicfan You're right, but there is a very good reason for that. "Not Me" was originally released by Bonds two or three years before this version.

  • @rb62470 I think this one charter higher than Gary's version

  • @radiomusicfan this is Gary's originally. Orlons covered it and improved on Guida's garage sound

  • Cameo-Parkway magic!

  • Philly schooled the WORLD on rockin' music! The birthplace of American liberty has also been the birthplace of SO much great music. That's why I'm proud to say it's my adopted home. Cool to think that I now live just 20 minutes away from the City Center studio where a ton of my favorite 60's hits came to life!

  • @VoiceoverIsland ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!

  • I actually like this version better than US Bonds'.

  • @VinDcator Me too!

  • @VinDcator Yeah, funny thing, me too.BUT I had forgotten this version until just now. What a treat!!!

  • You can't hear this music without NEEDING to get up and dance. Love it. Thank you for posting!

  • The horns sure sound like Gary U. S. Bond!!!! Love this slice!!!!

  • Gotta love the gritty soul in the voice of lead singer Rosetta Hightower! That girl can straight, bring it!!!!! Thanks for posting this gem. Great song!!

  • Danced to this at the Friday night dance at Holy Name Social Center, Springfield MA.

  • Very good song. I like it and "Crossfire" better than their bigger hits.

  • Me encantan XD

  • Brooklyn guy but I did heavy listening to WIBG, WPGR and now King Arthur

  • You must be a Philly guy with all these Orlons posts, jrocuts. They went to Overbrook High, which also produced The Dovells (not to mention Wilt Chamberlin.) Great stuff, and great memories.

  • @speedy45rpm Down through the years, the music produced in Philly, both quality and quantity, was incredible! Motown might get credited with marketing, and the promotion of the early R & B but, those who know the REAL story, will tell you, the Philly sound had NO equal!!!

  • @wedge4hire There was some great music for sure, wedge. Garnet Mimms, Solomon Burke, The Intruders, Lee Andrews and the Hearts, The Tymes, The Orlons, so many more. What I liked about the music of that time was that each city had a unique sound -- Philly, NYC, Chicago, LA, Detroit, Memphis, plenty of others. It was all part of the fun.

  • @speedy45rpm You put it so well!
