  • Awesome. Love the straightforward, facts-without-the-fluff nature of this tutorial. Thanks.

  • Many thanks! it worked a treat.

  • Amazing. My IT department won't do this for me and your tutorial helped me do it myself!

  • Awesome, thanks for that! Saved me a lot of trouble!

  • Perfect xml conversion. Thank You very much.

  • Thank you very much... That was much needed....

  • Just FYI, you're not building an XML schema. You're just creating a regular XML document even though, here, it carries one of the usage of the XML schema: describing the structure of the data. But it doesn't give any information on the type of the data, cannot be used to validate a document, etc. Great tips anyway!

  • Fuck yeah! Saved me SOOOOOOO much time. Thanks!

  • TIP: While doing the copy and paste try pasting using rigth click, then Paste Special and choos Only Values to remove formulas while Copiing and Pasting data

  • Thank you very much! This is great tip! :)

  • Exactly what I needed. Thank you.

  • Curious to what version of excel he is using. The Data->XML option is not on my Excel 2008 for Mac or PC????

  • Hi Mikenku... is there a way i can export each row as a new xml file using a macro button?

  • i get an error that i cannot export my XML mapping..any ideas?

  • Hey Mike, Thanks a lot. I think a lot of people (including me) get sidetracked by the "xml spreadsheet" which, as you know, does not give you the raw xml data to use in other programs.

  • woah thanks a lot..

  • Thanks, that helped me a lot!

  • Awesome Demo..It is very useful to me..I get more information.. Keep up the good Work...Thanks - Informatics Outsourcing(Data Conversion, Data Entry, Outsource Services)---

  • Thankyou very much, it was very useful !!

  • Hi, Excellent demo. Only thing, I didn't get was the 1st phase " How did you get into Dreamweaver and create FinancialSchema.xml " from Excel.I am just a beginner .Pls kindly help me.

  • Hi, in Excel 2007, when I drag my XML mapping on to the spreadsheet cell, I only get one row and cannot add multiple rows... please help!

  • Instructions for 2007 from Excel Help file after searching "XML Map":

1.If the Developer tab is not available, do the following to display it: 1.Click the Microsoft Office Button , and then click Excel Options. 2.In the Popular category, under Top options for working with Excel, select the Show Developer tab in the Ribbon check box, and then click OK.

2.On the Developer tab, in the XML group, click Source.

  • Thank you man, you really helped me with this tutorial.

  • Respond to this video... plz tell me how to go from excel to dreamweaver at the start????how to make that schema? its urgent. :( em stucked wid my research work :(

  • Great video tutorial! Snappy and easy to understand. Thanks for sharing :)

  • Perfect! You´ve just solved a big problem for me! Thank you!!!! =)

  • You can delete the original schema after importing it to Excel, right? Just want to confirm that it doesn't have any dependency on it.

Great tutorial! Very informative and easy to understand but also quick and to-the-point.

  • If your are using excel 2007+, things change a bit. To import the schema, it's data, from other sources, from XML Data Source. Also, it won't accept the second statement of the example xml due to an "invalid schema" error. Just delete it that statement, and excel will generate the schema statement on its own, based on the outermost element name.

  • Fantastic, Very easy, Good job...Solves my issue, thank you so much really appreciated.

  • search on google "TABLEIZED!" and you done in two seconds. :)

  • Thanks so much for this public service -- a huge gift. Hope one day you find a tutorial on YouTube as helpful to you as this was to me...

  • 4:12 that could save DAYS of typing or at least let us avoid some other silly workaround. This is obviously the way to do it! This was just sinking the fangs into the problem and hanging on until it stopped shaking ... just BOOM!

    Thanx a lot! : D

  • thank you so much for sharing this information!!! the documentation out there just makes your head spin!! Thanks!!

  • thank you for sharing!!!! nice video!!!!

  • I LOVE YOU!!!! Thank you very much!

  • well done!

  • today, you just cut at least eight hours of data input work down into minutes... thanks a lot !!!

  • this helped me out. Thanks

  • excellent tutorial. thank you for saving me a headache

  • Thanks for the info i like that!

  • i'm getting denormalized data when i try to save as xml data. how do i fix it?

  • Thanks for the nice tutorial! I figured I'd return the favor by pointing a way to ditch the "notepad" step. When you copy your data to paste it, right click and do Paste Special and Paste by value. That kills any formulas you may have had.

  • thanks for the clear, concise explanation!

  • Very clear! Thanks a lot!!!

  • Everytime i try to export as XML Data, it tells me the maps are unexportable. How do i fix this?

  • Thanks a lot, just what I needed to get keyframe data via CSV and XML into Flash.

  • Wow! Great tip! Thanks a lot.

  • This is very clear - thanks! However, there is no XML import option in Excel 2008 for Mac. That is so rotten of Microsoft! It's not the first time I've seen missing features in the Mac version of Excel.

  • that is so lovely. adding my thanks to everyone else's. you saved me loads of tears and angst.

  • Veru helpful indeed! thanks a lot

  • the method works great, however excel exports the date into some numbers in xml. how do we convert it back?

  • Thank you! This was the first result after a quick search and it works great! 8 columns + 1500 entries = a life saver! Thanks again!

  • I discovered if you have the Excel 2003 "Standard" edition you do not have this feature.

  • you don;t need to first copy to notepad and then to excel. You can just copy the data and when pasting data to excel do paste special and paste values only to get rid of the formulas in excel ..

  • Thanks a bunch, worked like a charm =)

  • excellent......thank you!

  • Just one word: Bravo !

  • Is it possible to do the same using Open Office Calc?

  • Thanks for the info. Saved me quite some time.

  • Very insightful. Thanks for the walk-through. :)
