ok this would be my list, I like Andreychuk but putting him over Dom is just wrong. 1. Perreault 2. Hasek 3. Lafontaine 4. Martin 5. Robert 6. Gare 7. Andreychuk 8. Housley 9. Mogilny 10. Ramsay
Tim Horton, although he did not have the long career or points to justify he was on e the greatest Sabres and not to mention revered as the strongest man in hockey in that era.
Worst list I've seen yet. At least the Buffalo News got it mostly right. Danny Gare needs to be higher on all lists. He had "French Connection" type numbers while playing on the checking line, he was the the best Captain in Sabres history and would fight anyone in the league winning most of his fights at 5'9.
@99warhawk chris drury is a long shot, maybe honorable mention, maybe. as for briere, when hell freezes over is the day i see him as one of greatest sabres ever
@BlackSpider1818 i just wonder what briere and dury did for this team that they didnt get put in here. fuckin dumbass, gave them two conference final appearances and a presidents trophy, and i division title and both appeared in the all star game while on the sabres. while briere was mvp of all star game. you so dumb niqqa
Looking at the list, I have to wonder why Rob Ray (never a scorer, but more of a heart-and-soul guy), with 895 games as a Sabre, is not on this list. Perhaps there should have been "honorable mentions".
Also, the Sabres should consider raising numbers 25, 32, and 39 to the rafters someday. Number 6 is really a borderline case. I would probably have flip-flopped Hasek and Andreychuk on the list.
Only problem I see is Hasek is not second or 1B. All the Vezinas and Hart TROPHY`S MAKE HIM THE MOST DECORATED SABRE OF ALL TIME !! By the way, Perreault is my all time favorite sports figure by far, check my user name !!!!!
@Polskapower1186 ya i was thinking of putting in razor too but i thought people may be like " all he did was fight, he did nothing to the team" which i dont belive is true, i also considered putting mike foligno and don luce in, I also considered putting lindy ruff in from his coaching alone.
Friend, put down the crack pipe. How on earth did Craig Ramsay not make the list? You called Gilbert, "lord". Check his lifetime +/- versus Ramsay's. For half of the excercise, Ramsay was +328 over his career. For the other half, your lord was +42 over his career. You can have Gilbert, Rick, and Rene, and I'll take Luce, Ramsay and Gare.
first off its just a video, so don't get so worked up over it and second;y check the title its 'BEST BUFFALO SABRES OF ALL TIME" not best +/- of all time (which BTW isn't the most useful stat) Its the BEST Sabres which includes goals assists and games played, +/- is just a small part of it.
@slappymcgroundout This is the most idiotic argument you could make, jarhead ! Take Luce, Ramsey, Gare Over the French Connection, what an asshole ! By the way slappy, Luce & Ramsey couldn`t have been succesful in any era, where Perreault would have shined and in some era`s been the best, whew !!!
@legros11 Dude, defense plays well in any era. And in case the point escapes both you and our crack pipe wielding vid creator, Luce, Ramsay and Gare was the checking line, so they played against the other team's scoring line. +328 for the Rammer. Put that in his crack pipe and ask him for a toke after he takes one first. Almost forgot, think 74-75. Gil at +1 on the year. Luce at +61, Ramsay at +51 and Gare at +40. Closet they ever got to Cup was owing to that line. The +328 is 22nd all time.
@slappymcgroundout Dude, slappy defense works in any era, but slow skaters don`t, not gare included. Your argument falls deaf with most anyone, so go toot your checking line somewhere else !!!!! Take away all the goals scored in 74-75 by the connection, you don`t sniff a chance at the cup, not the case with a checking line !!!
@slappymcgroundout its just his opinion take it easy i wouldnt have put miller in there though becuz he is tenth and we dont know if he will get any better so
@bufalosabresrock4444 His coaching? Are you kidding? That guy is one of the biggest reasons the Sabres don't go anywhere in the playoffs. If you have a single player, or a small number, that don't work hard and don't put up numbers you can blame it on the player(s). When you have MANY games where the entire team doesn't show up to play (except Miller) and has no fire or work ethic, that is the coach-and only the coach's fault.
@bufalosabresrock4444 Of course, when playing a game for a living and making obscene salaries, there is no excuse for not working their butts off every single night. But when they don't it is up to the head coach to get them motivated and outthink the other coach. Rarely, if ever, happens with Ruff behind the bench.
@kpwillson If (and it is likely) we lose this series, the cause will be in no small part by the putz behind our bench. He was a lousy player and is a worse coach, imho.
Okay, I'm a die hard Rangers fan and i doubt any original 6 team would move. But if they did, I certainly wouldn't root for the Devils or Islanders. Definitely, it would be Buffalo. Imagine the GAG line and the French Connection line on the same team? Both teams would have won a Cup or two in the early 70's. Unfortunately skill did not prevail. "Goonery" did, and the "Broad Street Bullies" won 2 Cups in the early 70's. That would never have happened today. As far as the list goes, I would agree.
when i made this i was thinking offensively and had the most impact on the stats, looking back at it i probably would have added him on the list, but then i have to think of someone to come off the list and everyone has the right to be there. BTW, i have tones of respect for Robby ray but i don't think he would ever hunt someone down, tough guys are usually the nicest people in the game of hockey.
ya i really considered putting hortan in for a little tribute, but there was just no room at all! like look at all the great people who didnt make it, like vanek, craig ramsay, mike foligno, grant fuhr, tom barrasso, don luce.
Miller should not be on there yet. In a couple years maybe but now? there is no chance.

I think Miller should be closer to number one (not meaning he should be number one but number 10 is an understatement)

you did this based on points, not based on where the player should actually be, the 1st sabre is completely understandable but come on no ruff?

Andreychuk? Seriously? *shakes head in bewilderment* Might as well put that putz Lindy Ruff on your list...
IAmMoparNut 2 years ago
lol. Ok.
1. all-time powerplay goals leader in NHL history
2. second all-time for points as a Sabres (behind only the lord himself, Gilbert Perrault)
3. Put his heart and soul into the city of Buffalo.
And if u dont think he should even be on this list there is somthing wrong with you.
BTW, i would put lindy ruff on this list purely based on his coaching.
