  • What bird feeder is that? I can't find it on the internet.

  • @Dasdfjkl I bought it at Wal-Mart.

  • @kansasa1 Thank you. I just got home from walmart, they had two left and I bought them both. To me this feeder has the flowers oriented like they are in a real plant. I filled them with water and have them in my the house, just to check for leaks. No leaks so far. Is your feeder still holding up well? What made me want to get a feeder is, last week I saw a hummingbird in the back yard. I never saw one in my yard before! And I have lived here for over 20 years.

  • @Dasdfjkl I've had my feeders for quite a few years now, the video is from 3 years ago, and no leaks on both of them. I didn't get near the amount of hummers this year as I have in previous years but I think it's because our weather wasn't quite as warm as it usually is. The hummers have been gone for some time now, you must live in a much warmer area than us to still have hummers?

  • @kansasa1 I am in NJ. It got quite a bit cooler this week, I am probably to late to try and attract them now. I read that they are migratory and they find places to feed by eye sight.

  • what a beautiful video. You may want to take a look at my videos of a hummingbird landing on my nose and one landing on my lower lip. I am very careful not to hurt them. Thanks again for this beautiful video.

  • Who do you think you're fooling? That's 5 pounds worth at most. ;-)

  • @Maxdwolf -- LOL. I thought the same thing especially after watching some other videos of large groups of hummers. I think the most I have ever seen is three at a time.

  • you feed them with water or another liquid????

  • @mellyvel1 Water and sugar that's all.

  • dose it kill tham :(

  • Winged beauty! Great vid! Thank you!

  • I love hummingbirds. This is my first year of putting my feeder out and last week we had about 20 of them. It was incredible.

  • I love hummingbirds. They are one of natures many avian beauties.

  • Great beauty!!

  • They must be so thrilled that you put food out for them. They are gorgeous! I wonder if you are located near one of their migration routes, or something?

  • I had one come directly to my second story window, hover there, big as life, looking straight in the window at me. Then, staggering breathless with the beauty of the creature, I stumbled into my bedroom and sat down on the bed, only to see that it had come all the way around the house, and was hovering at my bedroom window, again, staring straight at me! And the thing is, this hummingbird was twice the size of the ones in your picture. It was huge, like about six inches long! Any ideas?

  • @Shelora Where do you live? Google your area and hummingbirds and you might come up with what kids of hummer it was. Sounds pretty interesting! :)

  • @Shelora Yeah. I think you were high.

  • @Shelora well, in the aztec culture and now many mexicans believe that when a hummingbird get close to you or even look at you means that the gods are protecting you, so for us it means that...... so your so lucky....

  • Absolutely wonderful! I'm in Cincinnati and had my last (I think) hummer a couple of weeks ago... Still have the feeders out, however, just in case. I'm hoping for some "vagrants" passing through to pay a visit here. Anyway, your footage is marvelous! Many thanks for sharing :-)

  • I have two feeders and only manage to get 1 or 2 hummingbirds every few minutes. I'm in Maryland. What am I doing wrong? Also, after several weeks I had more honeybees than hummingbirds.

  • They are originally supposed to suck honey and keep "floating" in the air at the same time. WHen they are getting used to the artificial plastic flowers which are hard enough for them to stand on them and suck the fluid at the same time without the need to keep flying in the air, will it change their natural habit??

  • stunning, gorgeous work! thank you!

  • You can make your own mixture, thats what I do. 4 cups wter, one cup sugar, boil and stir until dissolved. cool and serve. Works well, and they LOVE it!

  • QUE BONITO

    FELICIDADEZ

  • I have never seen this many hummingbirds at one feeder. Ourr fight and will not let but one at the feeder at a time. This is unreal and awesome.

  • Very efficient feeder for such territorial critters.

  • arent those calliope hummingbirds?

  • The speed at which they beat their wings really is incredible, and the sounds are too!

  • Lovely, lovely video--thanks!

  • My dad used to have feeders when I was a child but we never had this many hummingbirds. They are beautiful

  • what a beautiful video, we have a similar hummingbird feeder outside our kitchen window, usually only 2 come at once but they come quite often. U have so many! Thanks for sharing.

  • what kind of mix are yall putting in the feeder? looks like they could empty it in a day! I'm completely fascinated.

  • I can never manage to attract more than two.

  • sharing @ 0:30 adorable!!!!

Great vid! Thanks for taking great care of them.

  • Would honey water be healthier for them? As honey is what bees make naturally from flowers. Sugar these days is so refined they take any goodness out of it. Honey lasts for years there must be something good in there xxxx

  • Honey is NOT recommended for hummingbirds & I think it's because of the botulism &/or other things it can contain. Kudos on the great video!

  • @love6uk As leiatyndall mentioned honey is NOT recommended for hummingbirds. Honey can be fatal to hummingbirds. It is also not to be given to children under one year of age (that is even a written warning on honey containers). Sugar is no more refined these days than in the "old days". While a lot of sugar may not be good for people...it is sucrose and that is what hummingbirds can digest and use for food. Brown sugar contains too much iron for hummingbirds and can be fatal for them.

  • they're like bees

  • But they don't sting. :)

  • @gordiam hummingbirds are called "蜂鳥" (蜂=bee,鳥=bird) in chinese =)

  • wow the orange one on o:43 is really pretty

  • cool to see...:)

  • Thanks for sharing.. :)

  • Thank you for the video. I have a Hummingbird medallion that I found in 6 inches of dirt at a landscaping job some three years ago. It is my personal talisman. Hummingbird symbolism is wonderful... thank you, again.

  • I just put my feeder out yesterday... already have 5 of them that show up .. where was this filmed>? Kansas ? Im in Missouri.. These ittle birds are amazing. I love me. (rick)

  • It was filmed in Lillooet British Columbia... my name is Kansas but I've never been there :)

We haven't had any hummers for about 2-3 weeks and probably won't see them again until next April... I'll have my video ready :)

  • Excellent video. I just started feeding Hummers this year. They are so cute.

  • how many hummingbirds would it take to make a ton?

  • Thank you so much for this! A wonderful video of really fascinating little birds. I always keep my feeders clean from stickiness because of wasps too, but my problem here near Philly is the deer tip the feeders & drink the nectar. LOL!

  • all i can say is thank you

  • Wonderful videos. I only get the rubythroated hummingbird here in Ontario.

I have to plan a vacation in your area. Are you near water?

  • That is truly an amazing video ! I saw several different types (species) of hummingbirds: Rufous, Calliope, Ruby Throat, and possibly an Allens, plus femaies and immatures. I've never seen so many kinds at once outside of Southern Arizona. Are you in Kansas ? Amazing

  • I don't live in Kansas, that's my name :) My location is Lillooet BC Canada.

  • i know its very cool but the feeder i watch well the humming birds just dont get along theres 4 spaces to drink from but the most on at a time is 2 because they fight eachother off

  • that's the most hummy birds i seen at once.! they are very cute

  • Wonderful video. I live in Georgia. We only have the Ruby Throated H'birds here. The others were neat to see. Thank you so much for sharing!!

  • i have a humming bird feeder in my bedroom realy and about 7-10 of them at night line up at the window sell and when its 6:30am theywake my up and never went tardy at school agian its like natures alarm in my house because of the buzzing noise they make.

  • i get one of those red hummingbirds around in So. Cal what is it called? its the only little guy over here in my backyard most of them a green with red throats. but the lil red guy only comes to watch the feeder he rarely drinks its so strange!

  • how do you keep the yellow jackets and wasps away? i had a h-bird feeder last year. while i was able to attract many hummingbirds, the poor guys would get chased away by the yellow jackets......

  • One of the important things is to wash the feeder well between feeds. Any stickiness will attract the bees. I did have one hummingbird that was stung (or at least that's what we think) because it died instantly still attached by it's little claws hanging upside down! I also clean any drips away underneath and around the area.

  • You are so blessed to have all this hummingbirs !!! I loved this video!

    I

  • That's great how you have so many hummingbirds. I don't know how you were able to get so many, but that's great. Very nice footage too. You can really see the details all over them. I only had a hummingbird come once.

  • Great video! You must live in paradise!

  • Beautiful, I could see their little tongues when they drank. This was so great. Loved it! Thank you for posting this. xo

  • Great video! I smiled for the whole 4 minutes! Thank you! Great filming!

  • They sure have some beautiful colors. I really enjoyed watching them close up. Thanks.

  • Loved your vidoe. I would love to learn how to attract more than just one or two hummers. The two that I did have left me this week. The weather turned a little cooler. Thank you for sharing.

  • Beautiful... and well filmed! :)

  • Wow, it's a veritable 'bee's nest' of activity.

Thanks for your comment on my hummer vid too.

You're right, I was very lucky.

  • wow thats crazy! what a gorgeous site!

  • Yes I agree... I think I am going to apply for some type of government grant for sugar LOL ;)

  • @kansasa1 = just a thought - wouldnt it be a good idea, that if you give them sugar that it should be organic as the chemicals in the sugar especially if its white will give these little beauties all sorts of ailments and they may die. You could contact the RSPB here in the UK, as for what to give them, I am not sure that sugar is the best... and of course they are deceived into thinking its nectar when in fact its not. Just a thought or two, wouldnt want to make these goergeous creatures ill.

  • @paradiseregain Thanks for your comment. After googleing organic sugar I was surprised to find out most of it deemed "organic" doesn't necessarily mean free of chemicals. I have been feeding hummers for over ten years and right through from April until October and all seem pretty content and return year after year. I see them going from the feeders to the flowers in my yard so they are not using the feeders exclusively. Substituting sugar for anything else, I think, would make them ill.

  • @kansasa1 - well if they are happy then ..what right do I have to change that - . happy happy happy !!! Its a really beautiful video and must be so heartwarming for you when they return each year. Thanks for making it. Favourited !!
