It's based on a relationship he was in and he said something about how they were sleepingwalking past hope because they knew they had things that they could work on but didn't...something like that and that this song is also based on the myth of Orpheus...

The His Infernal Majesty thing, according to the band, came from a group of fans that made it up, and they decided to roll with it, simply because it sounded cool, if I remember correctly. They aren't satanic, not spiritual at all, and they've made that clear plenty of times.

@willman1661 They did have issues with the US band, but this was as they were changing the name from His Infernal Majesty to HIM. I believe they used the name HER, or HIM and HER in the US, up until they managed to get the rights to HIM.
