  • not used to seeing trey on the right side! i like it!

  • @theheuchan i was thinking the exact same thing..i was immedately going to post that until i saw your post about it

  • FRIGG yeah!!!!!

  • Phish is fucking therapy... greatest band in the world .

  • god im so glad i was able to see phish before it was too late

  • @notmefuckingname? Really? Where do you live? Japan? Chile? Haiti? New Orleans? Phish tours regularly, I've seen them six times in the last two years less than an hour from Chicago.

  • @bvyborny ya i live in chi went to alpine 4 times deer creek>alpine run. ohio hampton going to phesti 9 if it happenes. i know they tour regularly but how much longer is this ganna last?

  • I know the drummer is just tryin to be funny wearin that dress but its not funny its just kinda dumb

  • @Wartfacedfreak it may look dumb but it is him who has to wear it not no one else not tryin to be rude just sayin

  • @Wartfacedfreak Actually, it is more for comfort. As a drummer, in particular one like "Fish", it can be very restraining back there. Think about it, his feet, legs, hands, arms... pretty much his whole body is moving... Most drummers wear loose clothes, but "Fish" has his own style... A goofy dress. actually, the first dress he wore on stage back in the'80's was a oversized womens dress. This one is his custom made one... a staple to his rig really... =)

  • @Wartfacedfreak

The drummer used to take pretty regular doses of LSD. Personally, I find it hilarious

  • @MrJas1991 Fishman wore the dress so he " would take himself to seriously" the book talks about it all... its great.

  • Im a muscian and every one in Phish plays the shit out of their instruments. Their arrangements are extremely complicated especially for a four peice band. They can play any genre and extremely well, as noted in their vast library of covers. The dead were the jam band pioneers, but individually Phish are better muscians.

  • @futureccsrider30 I agree my phriend, these guys just have IT. I am a musician myself, and phish is one of those bands that can pull off just about everything because of their creativity and talent. The Halloween show was excellent, thus proving how diverse their playing is by covering Little Feat. It's a miracle these guys collaborated together, because they could have made it in solo careers as well.

  • i guess ya have to be heavily drugged to enjoy this band

  • @rcloud7 nah you just have to enjoy good music

  • @NTFavorit well said

  • @rcloud7 no you dont, hahah that made my day. thanks BRO

  • I think its funny that in the bottom corner vh1's slogan is music first. You can never hear music on tv anymore!

  • Any song Phish puts on an album is their own...I'm sure they got help with the lyrics (as always) but they would never put a cover on an album. This song is off of Farmhouse by the way.

  • jared your a tool Phish is for people who have good taste in music. who do you like the used. thats laughable, and dont get mad cause you cant hang bra

  • peace braaaa

  • is this a cover of a grateful dead song? it sound familiar

  • @synth77

    jesus NO!!

please can any of u watch this band w/out bringing up GRATEFUL DEAD

    these guys are shit.

    they sound NOTHING like GD

  • yessssss

  • WTF-why do half of you fight about stupid shit when your supposed to to be enjoying this stuff, otherwise, why search for it? I don't get it! Is there somebody who can enlighten me to the original composer/performer of this song, sounds alot like a JJ Cale album my husband has.??? Please, intelligent comments and no haters/losers/db's pls.

  • My favorite Phish song........makes me bounce up and down in my bunny slippers!

  • back on the train of phish=truckin of dead

  • what??

  • @TheJerbyShow ha its kinda got the mood. good call!

  • I just don't get it and I have tried!

  • ahh i drinky smoky shit

  • good energy... priceless...

  • you"re definitely right (phishphreak77), gotta love the boys

  • only phish could pull off a country-funk shuffle

  • Phish and Cheese are back! '10 summer is going to be nucking futs!

  • @gb342002 +9001

  • Dude, phish kicks ass

  • It's a Phish thing you wouldn't understand

  • pardon me but are his thoughts concrete or is the bucket abstract

  • This song isn't even remotely out there. I would love to see you watch the movie version of The Wall. I'm guessing it would resemble the head exploding scanners.

  • BACK ON THE TOUR.

  • i love phish! but i dont have a trust fund. poor me

  • get a fucking job wook.

  • sick!!!

  • is that a SUHR guitar.............

  • its a languedoc custom guitar. phish's soundman paul languedoc makes guitars.

  • back on the trian alpine 2009

    SO SICK

  • i agree they incorporate many different styles but there are many other thing that make them awesome they play so well together, probably cause they've been together for a long time. Trey is soo good at soloing and he just goes off and does his own thing and some people do not appreciate jamming on stage but it is the shit

  • Hehe Phish will never stop corupting us all! THANK GOD!!

  • drugs are not the show and phish isnt the extra its the other way aroud

  • I know, right? Like... "I'm stoned and Whoa Look That's Phish up There Onstage! Bonus. I came to see the Red Sox but whatever. Woo Hoo! Play the Infield Josie Wales!"

  • what type of genre are they?nbecause they are good.

  • they cannot be classified in any genre, they are so unique because they incorporate so many different styles of music into their music that it would be impossible to pick a single genre but yes u are completely right... they are phuckin phantastic

  • I consider them jam rock. It's a genre I kind of made up where people playing cool music and jam on stage. :P

  • uhhh hey buddy i don't think you made that one up

  • Ummm I think Phish is usually considered psychedelic rock as a genre. But they are a jam band. I mashed the two together. Jam rock. I've never heard the term before but I'm sure someone has said it before me. I didn't say I made it up, said I kind of did. Means I made it up for myself but someone probably already has. Thanks for going out of your way to be a dick though.

  • wow...really creative... you just took an existing genre and renamed it with the exact same name...

  • "I've never heard the term before but I'm sure someone has said it before me. I didn't say I made it up, said I kind of did. Means I made it up for myself but someone probably already has."

    +1 for thorough reading

  • extra?? are you kidding the trip makes the whole dam show sure their songs r good but you cant be sober and listen to their jams and appreciate it as much

  • Sure about that? I'm 14 and can't imagine Phish's music touching me any more powerfully than it does now. The music is where it's at. I'm not going to touch drugs and I don't need them to get an emotional experience from incredible music.

  • you cant say that unless youve tried and your only 14 you have a while ahead of you

  • Dude, will you stop corrupting the young?!

  • no i am the younh lmao ur stupid

  • @TheEccentricHippie but they always help :D acid, shrooms and weed people

  • true that

  • just an extra brother, just an extra

  • Whoever posted this comment below mine, should respect the fact that they are talented musicians and open up your fucking ears. The energy that they pull/get from the crowd is what people go to the shows for not to get all fucked up......thats just an extra

  • extra?? are you kidding the trip makes the whole dam show sure their songs r good but you cant be sober and listen to their jams and appreciate it as much

  • I love Phish for their music and the energy they bring to each show. I don't do drugs. There are definitely a massive amount of people out there exactly like me.

  • Comment removed

  • ignorance at its most obnoxious. i started listening to (and loving) phish 2 full years before i even saw weed or any other drug.

and "mostly sound the same?" making that kind of judgment ruins any credibility you have to make that kind of judgement in the first place. you are judging them in a way that tells everyone "i don't really listen that closely to phish jams." that means you're in no place to judge them.

  • look at his beady little eyes

  • My favorite song ever.

  • i think they just get high and drink beer before the show. i tryed playin guitar while trippin in my friends basement, i couldn't do it there i doubt they can do it infront of thousands of people.

unless ur hendrix or jerry i doubt u can do it

  • hopefully NOW that is all they do. but in the past, unfortunately, trey got really wacked, man. lets not be naive about this man..

  • look no further then under the big cup on treys rack..lol

  • he uses the big cup to talk to page...it has a microphone in it that leads to page's ear monitor.

  • crusy, i wasnt referring to the bullhorn.. i was referring the the red dixie cup.

  • oh im sorry, i meant Crusty..and in this clip it is a green mug, not a red cup. my bad i forgot which video.

  • lol...like i said before...there is no liquid in the big green cup, it is a microphone that connects to page's ear monitor so trey can talk to him during a show without giving away the next song. They have more than one microphone in a cup...i've been to countless shows where trey pretends to take a drink and he's actually talking to page.

  • just stop w/ the "i have been to xxxx shows" . who cares it's not a contest ,, people like you are the reason i stopped going. it's about enjoying the music, getting into their heads. you probably own an ibanez semi hollow fwd60 or aws82 and just cover phish. be yours3lf , be creative, don't covet.

  • +1 for you

  • you stopped going to shows because of other people?

I don't understand. You were trying to jam at shows but couldn't because the guys next to you were screaming about how many shows they went to?

    Shakespeare or Montaigne?

    Our lines are open!

  • i went to the university of vermont so dirty dreaded shitbirds were everywhere and it turned into a contest of tickets, shows, buds, all things heady. So i just listened to reggae and went to small sick shows like burningspear, Ivibes and toots, Also MMW

  • it was always about the music for me. I never let other people keep me from having a good time.

Too bad you couldn't do the same- you missed a ton of great music.

Viva Aristotle- that elitist prick :)

  • I'm sorry you are such an unhappy, judgmental, presumptuous person. I prescribe 38 Shakespeare plays- they will help.

I'm sending you love- you seem to need it.

  • hey whats that, can you guys hear music playing, i can =)

  • Dude why do you have to go and criticize someone's lifestyle like that, mattier? That's just the kind of closed mindedness that's kept so much discrimination embedded in society. Live and let live, brother.

  • Owch... my feelings. Your insults sting like salt in a wound.

  • @CrackerJ I agree with this so much.. More people should have that thought man.. yes!

  • @CrackerJ cept stoners, coke junkies, and the parts of society that are failures.

  • @jared030858

The demographic of Phish fans come from higher education, culture and wealth. You should read many of the papers that are written about these types of subcultures, instead of lapping up what ever label you lazily lap up from a dish popular culture hands you.

the members of Phish met in college. They culled their fan base from New England and Mid Atlantic college circuit, widely revered as the bastion of higher education in the western world (Princeton, Havard, MIT, Yale)

  • LCD? No. PAINKILLERS? YES!

  • phish only did acid before a show once towards the beginning of their career and it didn't go well, they ended up running off the stage

  • I read a fishman interview in which he said that the band took acid for every show of their first 3 years of existence, but he also said in the same interview that mike had never taken it before, so he could have just been fucking with us.

  • LCD?

  • i highly doubt trey was on LSD during this show.

  • Summer tour 2009!!!!! I cant wait, here I come Deer Creek!!! WOOOOOOOOOOO

  • Yeah man.... gonna hit the road for Asheville yesssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!! Boyyyyy mannnnnn!

  • GOD! shit.... Wasshu fizzie

  • c u there!!!!

  • Now this is the Groove I expect from these guys. I dont know if they really dont party any more but when your too high it shows I hope they have cleaned up for the sake of being to live longer and do more shows. Nice Work on this one.

  • no joke

  • anyone who has ever done LSD will see that trey is clearly peaking in the video for cavern from this same show, so im pretty sure this was pre cleanup. psychedelics have been the fuel for phish's excellence from the beginning.

  • cavern was the encore of this show that is pretty unlikely. he may have just taken something before the encore? who really knows with phish.

  • PYITE comeback jam!

  • FREE!

  • i watch this video like every day now! Cactus' bass lines are so funky I just wanna get blazed and dance all day to them.

  • it took you all a 5 yr hiatus to get back on the train (together)~ LOVE TO HAVE YOU BACK!

  • Hell YEah!

  • These guys are on another level!!!!

  • ssooo goodddd UGH THEY BETTER PLAY THIS AT HAMPTON

  • im thinkin the same!!!

  • me too!

  • those were crazy c-bus shows...clockwork....i remember that ominous cloud the first night that went over the venue....yikes

  • sooooo chaaaaaaaaa

  • COMEBACK OPENER!

  • You are soooooo on there. Please let it happen.....let the roof blow off the first night!!!!

  • I remember i spilled my dank jar there all over the floor

  • that sounds pretty cool

  • i was at a show in columbus ohio in 2000. a train went by in the distance, immediately they busted into this. sick-sick-sick!!!

    rock on-space

  • these guys are one of a kind-i was honored to see several shows in the late80's and early

90's-unbelievable!!! and experience i will never forget

  • phreakin badass song

  • I first heard this on a late night show. I was very impressed :)

  • First time I heard this tune was at a show in Nashville, they had several guests, and given the bluegrass feel of this song--I thought it was a cover of some old timey bluegrass song they re-vamped. Later when "Farmhouse" came out, I was amazed it was an original!!! If they were shootin for this type of genre--as always-- they KILLED IT!!!!

  • a platform enhancer

  • one of my favorites on the farmhouse album. great performance, thanks!

  • Great song, phish is awesome.
