  • @leoliar905 Awesome sound for a YouTube. You do great work. . . and you're working with great material. There's nothing like a Daltrey solo, nothing. Thanks!

  • nice to see Keith Moon in the video.

  • such a great underrated song- I love how it is a "slow burner" starts out mellow and then just ROCKS! thank you so much for this!

  • it has some months i didn't see this vid, and now i returned just to say: JOHN AND KEITH WILL LIVE FOREVER!

  • The Ox, Moonie, and Ian McCullough (guitar player in the video, who was in Wings with McCartney and Laine) are all no longer with us today. RIP to those three!! awesome song!

  • @mickeycello

I am a bit confused i thought that it was Henry mcCullough that was in Wings and i don't think that he is dead ?, who is Ian mcCullough ? and is he dead?

  • @53charlie

It's ok , i have discovered that it is Jimmy McCullough, and that he died in 1979,so that's cleared up that little confusion of surnames there.

  • me either

  • Your empty walls ♥

  • Hey LeoLiar905....Excellent job on this video. Thanks for cleaning it up and bringing it back to us! Fabulous.

  • Love this old school band,oh yeah

  • Bacchus on drums!! Where's Pete?

  • Excellent Song! Great voice by Roger. The "Ox" on bass, and a shirtlessmad man on the drums! Wish I were 21 again!

  • Yep. It's Jimmy McC.

  • Guitarist is Jimmy McCulloch (Thunderclap Newman, Stone The Crows, Wings, Small Faces...)

  • @sespir21 way to go, I am just proud someone here knows who Thunderclap Newman was...

  • I love this song soooooooo much!

  • @jjaaccoo, not at all, my friend : It's about Joe Jackson, a baseball player from the Chicago sox.

  • @muzikamuz

I was making a dumb joke which I'll remove since this song deserves better than that,

I heard the Joe Jackson story, but I also heard it may be about Joseph Stalin.

  • Looks like Andy Fairwether-Low on Guitar, later on Roger Waters' Bleeding Hearts Band..Is that right?

I had a long running joke'bet that who did it first Roger or Murray Head?...I am glad I lost...I had never seen this until today...100 times better!!!!!! What a treasure, I wish he had played when I saw him do the Tommy tour!!!

  • I think that's actually Snowy White -- also of the Bleeding Hearts Band. Good catch, though, I wouldn't have noticed it.

  • @LicklagerMtl No, you're right -- it IS Andy F-L. My bad -- guess I should watch the entire vid before commenting!

  • Keith Moonlighting? :)

    Will never 4get you man

  • hey why is erci clapton playing durms? XD

  • @LucasBLLUESman Eric Clapton? Thats' KEITH MOON you Numbnut!

  • @455Transam man im just making fun of the beard.take it easy.i dig moon the loon.

  • when was that?

  • @TBfloydgilmour Early 70's

  • Cara, é do Som Pop!!!!!

  • On the UK version of the album "One for the Boys" this song was replaced by "Written on the Wind", which I just uploaded. I've offered it as a video response to this, as hopefully people who liked this will enjoy that great Daltrey number also.

  • I can NOT get enough of this vid.

  • @Irlandese64

    Nor me! Love it.

  • @Irlandese64 Me neither!

  • Great song. It's incredible the fact that with only changing Pete Townshend for any other guitarist (sorrry, i don't know who's that guy) this is totally a different band that sounds no like the who, even being 75% part of the band on stage!

  • @klinkerkk yes but if you ever saw Entwistle live solo he could make any band sound like The Who!!

  • 3 idiots on the planet!! Also a superb performance - this as well as Murray Head's performance are magnificent - in voice as well as musicianship

  • Sensational theme with great singer Roger Daltrey!

  • This is one of the greatest songs written by Murray Head. Google him.

  • Say It Ain't So Ben Bernanke!!!!!!!! boooooo

  • Outstanding!!!!

  • The original is just about 1 million times better than the version from Jedward! Contrary to them Roger can actually sing.

  • the voice of roger daltrey is so touching

    best song ever

  • THANKS!!!

  • This would be the great Jimmy McCulloch on guitar, from Wings.

  • Comment removed

  • Is that Dhani Harrison on Guitar?

  • @NeferkaMichael no, is Jimmy McCulloch from Wings

  • Nice voice

  • three people dont have a life

  • Good cover, but I still prefer the subtlety of the Murray Head's original, and the way that it builds to a passionate crescendo. And Murray Head sang more dynamically than Daltrey, who by the late '70s had forgotten how to so anything except belt it all out at full force, without the emotional variations he had up until ~1975 or so.

  • OK OK OK

  • It shows you that Mr.Daltrey is also one very powerfull singer...Believe it would have been around 76 this would have been filmed . This would have been recorded at the time of the album being recorded. Recored in 76 , released in 77

  • It shows you that Mr.Daltrey is also one very powerfull singer...

  • yes, the good ole days are gone,,, great tune!

  • this was in 1977 if im not mistaken right???

  • @chalitin11 Thanx , i was sure it was in 79. By the way, is it the story of a baseball player from the Chicago White Sox ?

  • Very good job LeoLiar905 - thank you.

Always the problem of quality sound on live tracks - speciall from this period in time.

  • Love seeing The Ox, Moonie, and other dearly departed ones like Jimmy in this one. God rest your souls. You made such great music.

  • Nice Supergroup - Daltrey, Keith Moon, John Entwistle and Jimmy McCulloch of Wings fame on guitar.

  • One of the greatest underdog songs of all time. It's NEVER played these days.

  • Great cover of Murray Head´s song. There is no doubt that Keith Moon was completely crazy

  • ..what a voice..he and paul rodgers from bad company...throw in robert plant from led zeppelin..for fucks sake these rockers were and still to this day the real deal...true legends.

  • top song , rogers a legend

  • Total Classic and hard to find ! Love it !!!!!

  • Moon needs to put on a shirt.

  • Loved this song, ever since I was a kid. Had it on vinyl now I have it on an IPOD.

Great music is great no matter what the device. LOL !!

  • fijaros en keit moon que fenomeno, un regalo de dios audiovisual

  • one of the best !!!!!!!!!

  • legendary Keith moon on drums

  • Take a look at the drummer, he's simply hilarious !!!

  • @muzikamuz Keith Moon for you. A total legend that died far too soon.

  • @R33Racer , Yes I know. And now I understand why they called him " Moon the loon " :)

  • @muzikamuz that's keith moon...

  • That looks like Lyndsey De Paul on backing vocals in the red dress.

  • @GeminiGuy1957 Yes it does look like her. The Only way to tell is negated by the poor video quality; that (probably painted-on) mole on her cheek which was so visible on TV at the time... but I reckon that's a Good thing!. I think Murray Heads' AND Gary Brookers' versions are Much better than this. But None of them is the version I remember. At least I now know most of the words!.

  • O vídeo é do Som Pop!! Voltei aos 14 anos!!

  • press 3:

beat it, beat it, beat it

  • Best I've heard Daltrey, solo. Nice to see Moonie and Entwistle backing him up.

  • Say it ain't so, Joe!

  • daltrey is the cubes ...from pissing on the wall to tommy...there are are few left,,,God bles his voice and we shouls all learn to never give up ure craft...keep going til llights out...long live rock & roll

  • Great!!

  • damned, he is so good !!!

  • youtube need to make a replay button coz i got bored of going back to the start after 5 times :)

  • where the hell has music like this gone rock and roll is dead, all these new bands with there screams just ruin it all, this is pure rock.

HE WILL ALWAYS ROCK IN MY LIFE WHAT EVER BULL SHIT MUSIC THERE IS!

  • And Keith Moon on drums!

  • @sixpack9901 and john entwistle on bass!

  • Check out his famous package...

  • Awesome.

  • You know... watching this video... pretty crazy to think... Daltrey's really the only star in this vid left who's still.... 'left'

  • Watching Keith on drums cracks me up.

  • Thank you for cleaning both the audio and the video up... great song, great video.

  • amazing.

  • Never heard Roger's version before but it's at least as good as Murray Head's, possibly better?

  • @lewisner First time I heard this too, I'm struggling with the same question too! LOL

  • @chromodoris I've pretty much decided Roger's version is better. He puts more emotion into it.

  • @lewisner I know what you mean, and the backup vocal arrangement more powerful too. But the Murray version, the bass line and the acoustic guitar solo make the song so more, in my opinion anyway, intense...

Struggling to stay loyal here! LOL

  • @chromodoris I'd say Daltrey has more power and I also think production value... plus his band lineup... really can't get better then that for a solo act really

as for Murray, I love an original, way more thought provoking and there is angst in his voice - seems desperate, meaningful and true... which is why I think people feel strongly connected to it.

So, both make powerful songs, both leave with you something different, both are great songs and both are worth listening to

  • always, very great voice, Roger..!

  • What a brilliant version of this song and Daltrey has an amazing voice!

I love it...thank you for publishing it!

  • three outta four ain't bad...

  • a new old song i love

  • Answers that musical question: "What if Pete Townshend overdosed in 1975?"

  • class song

  • Who is on lead guitar?

  • @frederickus

Jimmy McCulloch. Late, great guitarist for Paul McCartney and Wings.

  • god i love Entwistles fills. John Entwistle has such a warm sound and alot of authority with it.

  • Keith had his Cognac water bottle then, ahh the french make fine quenchers

  • fuck

  • extra! Mais attention la "musique tue", 3 morts prématurées juste sur cette vidéo... :(

  • It's funny how Roger is standing up there swaying back and forth all peacefully while Keith doesn't have a shirt on and is making funny faces.

  • DALTRY.

ONE OF THE BEST ROCK SINGERS OF HIS GENERATION.

    SIMPLE AS THAT.

  • @ferark Not one of. He's the best.

  • Always loved this song. Rogers voice is really suited to this kind of stuff, he's got the range & can easily deal with the key change on the last verse. Did he do an album of Leo Sayer songs?

  • @trammix Unfortunately yes, his first solo album titled "Daltrey"...a pretty weak selection of songs, even for leo sayer...Roger sounds great of course.

  • I've always loved Roger Daltrey. Great voice. But I never thought that he would've put so much effort into a cover song originally done by Murray Head. Fantastic job !

  • i'm in love with him!!!!

  • @kourkel Me too

  • I love Roger's solo stuff---Pete's also. They're just Legends.

  • aww John's playing the bass. Oh, and Keef... Woot for The WHO but like not The WHO in this video I guess. Confused a bit.

  • What I love about this song is that it highlites what a masterful and versatile drummer Keith Moon really was - known as "out of control" with The Who, this is beautiful time keeping without dominating the track.

  • beautifull music.

  • anyone know who this song is about? politician?

  • i love this song

  • Wow! Jimmy McCulloch(WINGS) ,john entwistle daltrey and Moon FANTASTIC!

  • Excellent! I loved it! Thanks for sharing!

  • Excellent! I loved it! Thanks for sharing!

  • great musica

  • rogers bloody amazing in this vid, thanx leo, oh and keith moons expressions are hilarious:)

  • The nearest you'll get the to the who with r&b backing vocals . Entwistle / Moon rythm section . Quality

  • TOP OF THE POPS!!

  • Love this one!! His voice really stands out here! Another classic "Say It Aintt So". .... if you can. :))

  • Wonderfull song, much better than Murray Head

  • He had some classic solo music back in the day.

  • goes directly to my favourits :)

  • He doesn't attempt the high notes like Murray Head does, though. Still, not shabby at all ...

  • Originaly written by Murray Head , this song's just great but Roger Daltrey makes it even greater

  • Roger = Love

  • Kippenvel!!

  • super Interpretation zum Original

  • this is really good work....thanks for your efforts with this...

  • Moonie's antics make this video worth watching.

  • what a song and what a voice... amazing

  • Thanks.

  • Who was the famous writer that wrote this song??? I can't remember his name.

  • @cookieman38111 Murray Head wrote it ;)

  • @cookieman38111 - Murray Head. He recorded it too!!

  • Damn, I've had this on LP years, never knew there was a video--thanks!

  • This is wonderful, Roger is great.

  • great song! very handsom. Is this the same Roger that was at the supesrbowl? Who is the putz in the underwear? gross!

  • @mekoko9

The "putz" in the underwear is Keith Moon, the drummer who really helped put the Who on top.

  • Great video, Can't believe Moon is sitting there in his underwear like that is a normal thing to do, and no one else on stage seems to notice. What a riot.

  • awesome!! Is the only one left roger? say it aint so

  • the who

  • magnifique il y a la patte des floyds

  • Original song from Gary Brooker on a solo album also the genious from Procol Harum, great song about gov t decepcion.
