@bagofcats To say nitrous oxide correctly, the best I can describe is "knox", like fort knox. It is stable by itself but when released to almost any slightly flammable material it can cause a explosion or a intense burn of fuel. Why? Because it is a oxidizer. Yes, it will make a car "explode" like in the movies. Almost anything will explode with enough O2 present. Though chemically stable at room temperature, it will burn by itself at a very high temperature and pressure very violently!

First of all you purge to lower your bottle temp not to get gaseous N2O out of your lines... with your valve open all nitrous lines from the bottle to the N2O solenoid are pressurized to 900-1100 psi, no gas in that shit. ALSO the siphon tube is at the bottom of the bottle so unless the laws of physics changed recently, liquid is still heavier than gas. Second, the atmosphere is 21% O2, N20 is about 36% O2. More O2 per volume of air, more fuel you can stuff without running rich.

@Hotrodx199 well, a regular backfire is an explosion (a small one, ofc) caused usually by fuel getting into the exhaust. if u've ever watched rallye videos, u'll hear lots of ''pop-pop-pop'' before a corner, that is caused by a process which takes long to explain, but put short, it's the turbo causing that. now, backfires can happen on NA engines and supercharged ones too. a backfire can happen on a healthy engine and a fucked up one. I think nitrous backfire is backfire caused by nitrous oxide.

He made the mistake of hitting the spray off the line which is a bad idea. My 89 gt vert has a converted 4 barrel carb motor with a plate wet nos system. It had quite a few runs down the track with no problems. today its still running new.
