Is funny, Nostradamus spoke about MABUS. Definately Fritz Lang used as principal subject of his movies this apocalyptic thing. first metropolis and now Mabus.....
There is no need for a remake, this is a terrific film and I would say it would make the top ten of any list of the greatest films of all time. Fritz Lang was brilliant!
i want to see this movie and the gambler (the first mabuse film fritz lang did)so bad! does any one know where i can get the original novel by Norbert Jacques? great trailer!
Maybe you can try and write some second-hand book shops. Or look on the internet (eBay, Amazon) for it. I don't think that the novel is in print right now.
It was a german i am sure .. might has been lang however i dought it due to the fact that I remember hearing an interview of the director from their later years jocking that the affect was acheived by error due to the lack of funds for the lighting department
Well Lang is often said to have been instrumental in creating film noir but I've been told that its really his american films that were noir, I haven't seen them so i don't know if thats true or not.
Fritz Lang is easily up there with the greatest directors of all time. No one who truly appreciates film can overlook Fritz Lang. I wonder what a director like David Lynch would make of Lang's work.
I saw this film for the first time back in the 70s. Imagine what I felt while Baum turns the pages of Mabuse's notes! Lang presented us the "handbook of terrorism" - in the mid 30s!!!
This is an absolutely mind-blowing film. It's pure cinema -- anyone who admires Hitchcock and classic horror should check it out. Thanks for posting it.
hitchcock appreciated fritz lang and his favourite movie was made by fritz lang can't you enjoy a director or a movie without comparing it in a bad way with another movie or bashing it.
oh and "cheap english" stuff i also can call metropolis to nazi bullshit but i won't
yellow: I agree. I haven't seen a Lang film, but I don't know why people cannot appreciate different directors.
Hell, directors like Bergman thought John Ford was one of the greatest directors and they were of different 'genres'. Genius of any kind should be appreciated.
Could anybody translate this trailer from german to english or write these words in german in comment ? I'm wondering what he said :)

One of my questions is whether film noir originated with Fritz Lang. M very much looks noir, but it lacks some noir elements.

Fritz Lang had planned ascent of the Nazi party and unveiled its plans while in the cult film.

The scariest part was when the ghost showed up. WHY WAS THE GHOST'S EYES SO FREAKIN HUGE! God that disturbed me.
Good cult film, though! ^_^ I like the beginning.
