4wd gives much better traction, if ALL 4 wheels are pulling in the same direction. Don't turn the wheel....DUH.
Rule #1 of owning any S10, Blazer, Jimmy. Chuck the Uniroyals GM put's on them and go with a winter tire or an All-Terrain that has the Mountain/Snow Flake symbol on the sidewall. I've been through alot of deep snow in my Blazer. General Grabber AT's are awesome in snow!

Your friend should have had someone sit in the back seat so he would have had some weight and that does work when you have someone sit in the back seat If I would have been there I would have offered to sit in the back seat
