  • You have a very natural and fluid style. Nice work!

  • @LilyNoelleArt Thanks so much! :-)

  • So this is u? Umm I want to do the sugar plum fairy for a talent show. And I think I'm gonna use this variation or another selection. If I use urs, who should I give the credit to? (what company??)

  • @HarryPotterRox4eve This is a well known variation that all ballet companies do, so there isn't really a company that you can give credit to. However, Marius Petipa was the original choreographer of this variation, so I would give credit to him. Hope this helps! :-)

  • Beautiful!! When I grow up I want to be a professional ballerina. I have been dancing since I was 4. My dream is to one day dance the part of the Sugar Plum Fairy.

  • Beautiful!! When I grow up I want to become a professional ballet dancer someday. My biggest dream is to one day be a Sugar Plum Fairy.

  • Your so graceful on stage, it's beautiful!

  • you are a lovely dancer! very graceful (: but your shoes dont looking properly broken in... maybe its just the video.. amazing variation though!

  • @littlemermaid103 Thank you! The shoes were the wrong fit. This performance was actually in 2006, and I got a different fit of the Gaynor Minden shoes after this.

  • @sugargrace8 ohh i see (: you will be amazing in your new shoes!

  • @littlemermaid103 Thank you! I actually had my last performance last year in the Nutcracker as the Sugar Plum Fairy. I'm sad to not be performing anymore, but I had a wonderful 18 years of dancing and was truly blessed to dance the parts that I did. :-)

  • haha very GRACEful

  • @fashiondanceprincess Thanks so much! :-)

  • wow! I loved this you moved really gracefully on that stage! :) amazing job! :)

  • WHO WOULD EVER DISLIKE THIS? :(

  • very beautiful!

  • You do beautiful, graceful things with your hands and wrists. Just lovely. :)

  • i was just in the nutcracker and i watched our sugar plum fairy on and on its so beautiful

  • This is really good!! Oooh..I wish I could dance like that. lol

  • That dance is amazing. I'm starting to learn ballet too but I'm starting kinda late. No doubt that it would be much more painful in regular ballet.

  • Dancing is beautiful. But the music and the dancing are outta' sync.

  • @WeeWyllie Thanks! Yeah, whenever I try to upload videos on my computer, the audio and video synchronization gets messed up.

  • when I think of the sugar plum fairy I think of someone excactly like this! You're very good :)

  • Hello , Sugar Plum Fairy ! You're great !! ;D

  • what a graceful fairy!!! beautiful!!!

  • You are lovely!

  • What I like is that your movements have an incredibly loose look to them, though you obviously exhibit extreme control! Like people seem to have noticed, your arms especially have a very eased, sweeping motion, you could be shrugging as if to say, "this is all effortess!"

Fluidity is a quality all dancers need, but I think you capture it as a real style rather than as just a movement skill.

  • Beautiful! You dance with such Grace! ;-)

(Pun intended; your parents named you well!)

  • wow, i'm actually impressed! it's nice to see a dancer your age that actually knows what she's doing. most of the videos that girls upload are absolutely atrocious, it's a disgrace to ballet. but you're very very good :D

  • Beautiful....just beautiful, you danced VERY well

  • absolutely graceful and perfect! i love yuhr extension of the legs, your amazing turns, and strong pointe toes. just beautiful, you have inspired me to try to take ballet, although im kind of to old lol but i will certainly put my little sister in it(: again great work(:

  • Wow, this is abosoulutely beautiful and amzing :)

  • wow ur a really good dancer

  • when did you start learning ballet?? cause you are incredibly great...

  • @honeycutties Thanks so much! I started when I was 5 years old and was 18 in this video.

  • @sugargrace8 uh..I'm taking ballet classes this coming spring and I have no flexibility whatsoever. lol. I was wondering, how did you become so flexible? Idk what else to do to become flexible and I'm kinda starting this at a later age. I'm over 18....so..is regular ballet gonna be hard??

  • Wonderful job!!! I hope one day I can dance like that!! I am working on it!!

  • i begged my mom fro months to take me to see the nutcracker. then my whole school went... it was the BEST thing i've ever watched on stage

its my dream to be in the nutcracker ballet.. (like thats ever gonna happen). well i am starting a begginnner kinnnda pionte class this year :)

  • perfection.....is that traditional coreography?

  • @iluvboston33 Thanks very much! Yes, it is what the Royal Ballet and most ballet companies use.

  • wow! you r really good! nice attitude turn :)

  • very pretty I hope i can dance like that when i get older :)

  • Beautiful.

  • You're a beautiful dancer I hope to be able to dance lyk tht somedayyy

  • Wooow. you are aaa veeery good dancer. <3

  • Were u ever nervous???

  • @DancerXing22

Oh of course! I still do get nervous. But it does help give you more energy. :-)

  • @sugargrace8 haha i forgot to tell you that you are an amazing dancer! you rock!!!!

  • @DancerXing22 Thanks!

  • You're a beautiful dancer but I don't like Gaynor Minden on your feet. They don't fit:(

  • Those didn't fit, no. I have a much different size now but I still love Gaynors. :-)

  • beautiful technique! No wonder your video won! You were very expressive!

  • the version i know is a teeny tiny bit different but they are almost the same.....you are a great dancer!!

  • as a fellow sugar plum, youre gorgeous! i like the altered ending. even in such lighting, you have great feet. what shoes do you wear?

  • Thanks so much! I wear Gaynor Minden pointe shoes. :-)

  • as a fellow sugar plum, youre gorgeous! i like the altered ending. even in such lighting, you have great feet. what shoes do you wear?

  • @RachelHearts Thank you so much! I wear Gaynor Mindens. :-)

  • @sugargrace8 Aaah I wear Gaynors as well! They're the best! You're so lovely! Which bag did yours come in? MIne was yellow and I love it so much!

  • @shinochan01995 ballet is so much fun!! omg yes

  • what's the name of this song???? can someone pleeaase teeelll meee!!!

  • Does this song have a lot of variations or just one? It looked different from the last video I saw.

  • There are several versions of the dance, yes. This is the version the Royal Ballet uses for the most part.

  • Wow....ur beautiful! I just got my pointe shoes today i don't even know how to use them yet...but I've been doing ballet for 10years and i was the Sugar Plum Fairy in a smaller show XD

  • It's hard on the piano, but waaaay harder to dance it! Great job!

  • That was A-MAZING!!!! from begining to end!

  • this is beautiful! i'm not really a fan of the choreography but your arms were so delicate, your performance was just, wow, amazing.

  • ohhh i this is my favorite variation i've seen! good job(:

  • This is beautiful!!!!

  • VERY good, the dance seemed very delicate and light footed, you must have worked hard on it, just like a sugar plum fairy should be seen, i was a little shocked at how you managed to battemant in the air and still have time to reach your next beat.

you put me to shame (lol)

  • You are ABSALOUTLY AMAZING. Starting ballet propaly soon, HOPE TO BE AS GIID AS YU ONE DAY! Your so gracefull ...your like a swan. :)

  • ever since i was little, and i still do,want to do this part.

  • that was beyond gorgeous:D

  • Lovely port de bras totally makes the variation more graceful than sweet, as in those in other dancers :)

  • this is really good :) I was in ballet for 5 years, then quit because of my busy schedule. Right now, I'm learning this song on piano ;) it's really hard though.

  • The technique of it is great and I love her arms.

But I agree, this choreography is boring. Often do not match the music ... It seems that half was taken by another variation

My fist language isn't english, so sorry if i wrote something wronge ;)

  • Beautiful. Best variation I have seen on youtube so far!

    <3 it

  • your name fits you!

  • You did great1 your arms look especaly graceful! The coriography was a little boring though...

  • omgoodness, i love gaynors:) btw, you're AMAZING! i love the way you dance! it looks so effortless!(and i KNOW its not:) 1 question, is that an arabesque or a attitude at 0:43?

(Hey! i have the sheet music for the song if any piano or flute players are interested)

  • this is a great dancer! u make it look effortless. even though the choreography, in my opinion, didn't quite match the piece, u performed it WONDERFULLY! u get a 10!

  • I am! I know your comment was 7 month ago. But that would be really nice of you :]

    The music is absolutly beautiful!

  • el cosmopolita: your name really fits you

  • very lovely! well done. i'm from central arkansas and had a friend in this production. very impressive!

  • Thank you! What is your friend's name?

  • Youre really light and graceful ,you live up to your name lol.Well done!

  • wow!youre a great dancer!

  • that was a joy to watch! You have great musicality and stage presence along with very clean technique. great job!

  • The Royal is a great company --

Were you raised in Arkansas? who were your teachers? Are they connected to the British tradition?

  • Yes I was raised in Arkansas, but I would love to move somewhere else. I've had many teachers but none were connected to British training I don't think. My teacher right now who is the best teacher I've ever had is Arleen Sugano.

  • That's really beautiful, Grace -- congratulations. THe wonderful thing is howcrystalline you are,m but also how soft. The portsde bras look really sweet, free and easy and generous, whilehte leg work is so nicely faceted, sharp, and clear. I notice you didn'tdo the releve after the effacee devant tendu -- neither does Laeanne Benjamin. Is your training british?

  • Thank you so much! My training was actually all in America, but I take that as a compliment that you thought I had british training. I would love to be with the Royal Ballet! That is my dream company.

  • this is quite a beautiful variation done very well. Just a suggestion to enhance your beautiful technique is when you do arabesque I noticed that your feet almost look sickled, which I know that they aren't, but because your feet aren't Patricia Barker feet, wing your feet in arabesque and it will look like as if you have really archy feet. This just a suggestion, please take no offense. You did a great job, and I can see why you won the award!

  • Thank you! I know what you mean by the sickling, but that was actually caused by the shoes that I was wearing. I was wearing them way too narrow, but I wear a different size and shank now and they look much better.

  • I'm glad you got new shoes, that can make all the difference. What school do you dance with? By the way, it's unfortunate you didn't do the menage because it would have been killer to see you do it!

  • Nice work, especially your soft arms. What shoes are you wearing now? I think your feet would look really nice if you went with a three-quarter shank. I know that made all the difference for me! Keep up the good work.

  • I was wearing the wrong size shoes then and they held me back, haha. I wear Gaynor Mindens though. Thank you so much for the comment!

  • Ballet from what ive seen is like the music it expresses, its continual and always resonant. Although again, like music, even though it can display odd time signatures it's always fluid in human perception and unpausial.

Ballet certainly seems to require a lot more than just good dance skills.

Good job with your award btw you deserved it. 8D

  • What beautiful, beautiful breadth of movement. So so musical. Brava!

  • Oh my gosh..you are so AWESOME...I just started ballet..I hope i can become half as good as you some day.....really beautiful!!:-)

  • wow great performance!! and very good balances! you've got great technique!!!:D i hope you'll get far in dancing!=)

  • My daughter was sugarplum for Maniya Barredo's Prima with Atlanta Ballet) company, so I have seen lots of good dancers. You are very talented .. and have a unique grace and poise. I hope you keep it up

  • WOW! =) you r so lovely! i hope i can someday be as good as you! How long have you been dancing for??

  • Thanks so much! I've been dancing for fourteen (almost fifteen) years. And I just finished my fourteenth Nutcracker today! I did Sugar Plum again as well as Snow Queen.

  • Absolutely beautiful! Your developees and attitudes are amazing! How old were you when you were the Sugar Plum Fairy?

  • Thank you so much! This was actually last year, and I was 18.
