as a jason kidd nets fan, i am also stunned that some commercial ass rapper jay-z stole our team to move them to brooklyn. bring the sonics back to seattle and keep the nets in nj.
as a sonics fan I just starting crying cause I really miss sonics and I was born in Seattle and I hope someday or some year we get another team in Seattle real soon and also basketball means a lot in Seattle and we have one of greatest NBA fans and the best sport fans in the country and I don't get why someone would want to move a team that had rich history like the sonics did and not only to Seattle they meant so much to the state of Washington and I hope the sonics come back :(
@12Aggiefan Serge Ibaka, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant and Nick Collison were drafted by Seattle. Thunder fans need to learn more about the history of there fucking team. Proves to me that they should start over and not even associate the Sonics as Thunder history. "Thunder Up" what a fucking JOKE. Go Sonics
Also the Sonics in there last 3 years in Seattle were god awful (2006, 2007, 2008). Clay took a crappy team rebulit it in OKC and now the Thunder will be a young solid contending team in the west for years.
@12Aggiefan How iggnorant are you? Sonics drafted KD and if it wasnt for us, Thunder would be shit. Also we would have been play off contenders too since KD was a rising star here in SEATTLE
@OMGWTFShizznat I sympathize with your loss what happen to the Sonics was horrible. I wish that city can get a new nba team named the sonics. But don't drink the Kool-Aid yes the Sonics had Durant but the young pieces surrounding him Harden, Westbrook, Ibaka were all pickup in the Thunder first or 2nd year of existence. If they were still in Seattle Clay wouldn't want to bulid a winning team hence the Sonics would still suck. If I was you just hope your city can get an NBA team back.
It sucks what happen to the Sonics but the fact is they shelled out of the mariners and seahawks yet couldn't do it for the Sonics the team that won the only championship in city history? what does that say. Also Bennet is from OKC of course he wants to move a team to his hometown he owned the team he has a right to leave.
stern is such a liar. Just admit it you wanted to not pay a dollar of the nba's money for a new stadium. I hate how he can just play coy about how we got a team of 40 years ripped out from under our feet.
stern always did some bullshit like cheating to kings 2002 and fixin the draft for the knicks that eventually never won a championship even though they had Patrick Ewing fuk that beeeaach david stern man we lost our sonics ahhh Ray allen im glad u got your first ring with celtics
Seattle didnt do enough to preserve the team there. And you cant blame the city of OKC (shit, which small city doesnt want a pro-sport franchise?!?). Sonic fans, blame Clay Bennett for purchasing the team and moving it, not the good people of Oklahoma City.
@cheaboiMWA I think it was just the way they went about taken our team. It was very dishonest and full of dirty tactics. Clay Bennett just wanted a team for OKC and the first one that came on the market was Seattle. He then ransomed the State asking for a new facility which was not needed at all, the Key arena is still very nice. I'm sure people in OKC are very nice but don't blame Seattle fans for having a bitter taste in our mouths.
I think its really cool to see Brian Robinson and Steven Pyeatt really fight hard to keep the Sonics in their city. These two gay people are big civic pride people.
I guess you could call this "Gay Sonic pride". Its to bad the team is gone now.
The bad news. The Sonics are gone and have left a wonderful city.
The Good news! As a Rocket fan I could fly to Oklahoma City and watch the Thunder play my favorite team.
I guess that dude ain't watchin NBA basketball anymore. They showed a alot of fight, a lot of heart and a lot of fan support. They came to save the Sonics but it was not to be against David Stern and Clay Bennet.
Its hella diffrent up here in seattle since the sonics moved. Its jus not the same going on fsn n not watching them. Sometimes i miss them so much, i kinda feel like cryin.
Dumb, dumb move by the NBA. They act like there's no way the Sonics could have stayed, like Key Arena was some level of hell where fans didn't actually pay to go to basketball games. There was a solution there to be found. Stern has nixed a thousand deals in his day, and he wholeheartedly approved of this one to move the Sonics. All this does is weaken the league by trading a mid-size market for a small one.
my favourite team. and im from europe i went there in 2007 before they went to oklahoma, the beautiful key arena the incredible jerseys they had. i bought a few in the fan shop . and 2 months later they were from a team that didnt even excisted anymore. but that s all right .just fuck bennett. seatlle super sonics are in my heart.
Seattle produces a lot of NBA players so its weird to not have a NBA team. Basketball is played everywhere around the Puget Sound area... damn we need the Sonics BACK!!!
the sonics were a nba team this year? beacuse from what i saw i thought i was the practice squad i knew they needed help but damn that bad oh well its not like they were a good team or franchise
Clay bennet is liar as soon as he bought the team he said he would try his best to keep the team in seattle but after awhile it was pretty obvious he wanted to move them
But a business is also your cutomers having faith in you. If you pull the rug out from under them, swindle them, rob them (even just a small portion of your customers) then the rest of the customers will start to realize that something is off.
yes, it's about making money, but you can't make money if your customers don't like the way you handle business, casting off your most loyal customers (Seattle - 40 years).
I think that many fans are going to realuze the precedent being set is wrong.
The key arena is not "obsolete". It just needed a few touch ups. Stern and Bennet forced Seattle into a corner demanding a new arena. And yet, even after the move became official, stern proclaimed that the key arena was a viable arena!
This is not Seattle's fault, they wanted the team to stay, but didn't want to pay some bogus ransom money.
And who cares about rain, basketball is an indoor sport. You're an idiot.
Thank God for TNT for bringing this to light. ESPN, because they're in Stern's pocket, wouldn't so much as bring this up on ESPNNEWS, let alone outside the lines.
Excellent point. I never saw any mention of this important NBA story during ABC/ESPN's coverage of the Finals. Instead all we got was stories about the celebrities who are Celtics or Lakers.
This proves why ABC/ESPN got 'execulsive' rights of the Finals. This is not a knock against Oklahoma who desereved an 'expansion' team and Seattle who i feel really bad for.
watching david stern lie through his teeth makes me want to punch him in the face. great move sonics, move from one of the best cities in the country to oklahoma. man would i hate to be kevin durant right now.
I'm from Seattle and I hate this. It ain't fair! Move Miami or Sanintonio or Clippers somewhere with Two teams, why would they Choose to move the Sonics to Olkahoma, watch a tornado roll in while they're in tha game!
Try to look at this way. I am from Houston and I love my home teams. We lost the Oilers and then we build a new stadium and then the Texans are born. We almost lost the Rockets but we build an arena they stayed. The one thing your city has to do is build it first, and things will happen sooner than you think.
Memphis is losing money with the Grizzles. If the OKC can break a lease with Seattle. Than watch the Grizzles do the same and then move to Seattle.

I hope Seattle fans aren't holding out too much hope for the name, because the it's leaving with the team. It will be up to us whether or not we actually use it. A new name would be cool, but it's alot of trouble. Alot of us are fine with it, it's a good name, and it fits OKC just fine. This is where Sonic drive-ins are headquartered for those of you that didn't know. They could bid on the new naming rights...The Sonic Center...loudest arena in the NBA, that has a nice ring to it.

Don't you guys know that you people in Seattle are only saying bad stuff about Oklahoma City because you lost your team.Oklahoma is a state that loves basketball especially in Oklahoma City. You guys dicided you didn't want a new arena so your franchise is leaving. The Ford Center is the best arena I've been to my whole entire life. And another thing for those people who say Oklahoma City SuperSonics doesn't sound right just to let you know were not keeping the name SuperSonics.
you slimy okc fans you people tried to steal my hornets it hurts me to see you people try to steal another team!! HAHAHAHA i hope you people enjoyed watching the hornets beating the nba with cp3 knowing you okc fans were left alone!!
I live in Oklahoma, Tulsa, but I don't want the Sonics to leave, its very sad, and I wish OKC could have gotten an expansion team instead of taking the Sonics from Seattle.
seattle "splurged" on the key arena, fans watched them play season at the tacoma dome. you okies dont remember this.safeco, qwest, came after.renovating the coliseum didnt happen overnight-but the fans were patient. were the sonics gonna put us through that again in only 10-12 yrs.? people sure have short memories!
Clay Bennett is a lying jerk. David Stern is not a fair person and is supporting a known liar. They both need to be fired. Seattle has supported the Sonics eryday.
Seattle needs the sonics keep them there! Move the fucking LA Clippers to OKC! I'm from Minnesota and My grandpa was telling me how pissed off everyone was when the lakers left for L.A., THERE ARE NO LAKES IN L.A. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! GO SUPERSONIC FANS! FIGHT THOSE NBA BASTARDS WITH EVERYTHING YOU HAVE!
Dude Fuck Oklahoma City, I have fucking family over there and nobody gives a flying fuck about the NBA over there. Oklahoma is the fucking Sooner state because the only good team over there is the Oklahoma Sooners. Fuck David Stern, the Stadium isn't nice enough fuck that fuck it completely how the Fuck can Milwaukee, Portland or Charlotte have a team but Seattle, 1979 champions, Gary Payton throwing it up to Shawn Kemp, And you want to take that away from us, FUCK oklahoma, David Stern and Clay
Now Howard Shultz has stepped in to rebuy the team. I support Howard again and Thank Him. Lets get the team back. Also Thanks to Mark Cuban, Paul Allen, Bill Gates, Steve Ballmer,
Jim Senegal (Costco Ceo), and all the others who have helped to Save Our Sonics. I do think they will stay in Seattle and David Stern may lose his job over his mistakes
Dont you start crying yet! Pick up a newspaper! Howard Schultz is suing for breach of contract to rescind the sale. What's more, with the recently revealed emails, HE HAS A STRONG CASE!!!
An NBA team is a privelage, not a right. Seattle is losing it's privilege to have an NBA team because they won't pay for a new arena. Its that easy...
It has nothing to do with paying for an arena, and it never did. The whole plan from the very beginning was for Bennett to come in and steal the team for his hometown, and he had Stern in his pocket the whole time. Bill Gates could have offered $10B for an arena, and it wouldn't have made one bit of difference.
No, no. Seattle wouldn't pay for a new arena on the exact terms that Stern and Bennett wanted. Arena deals have been hammered out dozens of times in 11th-hour proceedings, or in compromise situations with ample private and public subsidizing, and not per brief funding windows or massive public funding that Schultz and Bennett have been demanded.
Your contention is complete and ignorant bogus, and it is misinformation like this that has undermined a large part of support for the Sonics.
Everyone an their mother knew Bennett wanted to move the team when he bought it, including Schultz. The bottom line is it's Clay Bennett's team and he wants to make money off of it. The franchise lossed 12 million dollars a year in Seattle under Schultz, and that is not acceptable for that size of market. Maybe the city of Seattle should have thought about keeping the Sonics when they were splurging on Safeco and Qwest.
You are beyond clueless. The public voted down Safeco. It was passed through a special legislative session. Qwest was only passed because Paul Allen, like a genuine owner, footed over 1/3 of the cost.
are you kidding me dude? you think OK city got their "privledge"? didnt seattle do enough by supporting their team even when we suck that much? yeah thought so. chump
Losing millions only because of the worst lease in the league (that is also a loss-maker for the city) that was negotiated by the Ackerley ownership when the taxpayers shelled out over $100 million for Key Arena upgrades. There's your support. It has nothing to do with attendance. And your claim of among the lowest attendance is B.S. as well. Key Arena has the smallest capacity! The attendance-capacity rate is consistently among the highest.
Don't know when this piece aired, but it's good that TNT is getting the message around. Too many NBA fans are falling victim to Bennett and Stern's lies and don't know what's really going on up here.
I'm a diehard Spurs fan whose heart goes out to all you Seattle fans! I've always loved your city and your team's competitive spirit....I hope they stay for many years to come. Good luck!

Don't know when this piece aired, but it's good that TNT is getting the message around. Too many NBA fans are falling victim to Bennett and Stern's lies and don't know what's really going on up here.
