A few weeks ago I did what some might deem impossible or unthinkable: I cancelled shaw cable TV. In retrospect it was long overdue. With today’s technology and high speed internet connections, I can watch most of my favorite shows on-demand with little or no extra cost. Ditto for movies, news, and even some sports.
anyone that pays for bell services has to be a RETARD and loves being fucked solid right up the ass-pipe there staff are a bunch of dildo's from looser countries were they have no hope in hell and make little money plus they cant speak English or French
Well people must tell the gov they don't want government involvement because then access to your favorite whistle blower/ anti corruption sites & free speech can be censored, and the internet changed to be "regulated" to pay a blogging license right? The internet is free right now.. any changes would make it less free?
Primus (dsl) has unlimited downloading, not throttled and do not use the bell lines, so bell`s throttling doesn`t effect Primus. They are the same speed and are much cheaper than Bell or Rogers. I`ve been with Primus for over a year now, and have had no problems at all. Everyone should make the switch, save some money and you can keep downloading torrents any time you want at full speeds!
Actually primus uses bell line since bell own all copper line and if you use copper for internet you are using bell. So you only have two choices Bell Or Rogers.
@SaveTheHumanRace No your wrong there, I looked into it and found out that Primus does not use the bell lines, and that was the reason i switched with them. I don't get throttled anymore.
Can you please tell me where you got your information from because all minor ISP have to use bell network to provide internet, (at least in my area) Only cable companies like rogers, shaw, cogeco have they own cable network.
@SaveTheHumanRace Dont remember exactly where, i just remember looking up reviews and info of differnt isp's and found out primus doesn't go through the bell lines (not in all areas). So i called them up and they checked and told me my area didnt use the bell lines. That was over a year ago, and I havent been throttled since I left Bell.
ok...i know this is gonna happen...but seriously think about it!
CIVIC WAR IS NEAR!! internet is pretty much our last freedom. Our own homes arnt freedom. At any given time of day or night, cops can bust your door down, without a warrent, if they think ur a terrorist! In the gov's world, we are all terrorist because we DO NOT want a one world order!
jk997 you must be dum ass. its not only about cap on bandwith its about taking your freedom away. Internet is the only media still alive that you can deliver your freedom speech........ Soon government will take away your freedom. soon they will lunch internet2 and shut down recent internet. wake up dude.
incompetent, 1 internet is free yes, but the bandwidth the campanies are making available to you is not free they pay for it so it is normal that you get a cap on your line because u use too mutch bandwidth, perhaps if you where more inteligent you would see that the backbone companies charges our providersssssss too mutch and that is the real problem dont blame bell for a cap yes they do cap but others do...
So you Support capitalism, or you trying to help the little guy providers. that wouldnt have to worry about getting screwed if this bill went through and after all aint it suppose to be about the equality of the peoples rights in this great nation, not about corporations or small businesses paying to much for bandwidth that should be leveled and shared not horded, and discriminating by who gets more and who doesnt.
I know the costs of bandwidth, apperently you do not. its pennys per gig total cost to transfer. The prices rogers/bell charge are outragous in the first place. They cover more then the cost of 1tb of transfer for every user. They just perfer to shove as meny people on the network as possible witout upgrading it.
im not ignorance abour the relationship of canada and american.I know they are working togather to create north american union. they have an agenda. being an american citizens means being a patriot.being united states citizen means being under martial law.
if usa economy plunging and soon head to depression, ccanada will suffer the same as the usa economy.you find out about it.after WW1 there was a worldwide depression and ww2 ended the depression
Thank you. So what happens to all the millions of websites that no one can access anymore? Or am I still way out to lunch here :)So if I want to look up on google say for something like EG: how to housetrain a dog, It will only be up to the government if I can see the pages or not? Sorry, Like I said I'm new to the net world :) Thank you.
It means. That unless that third party website pays bell or rogers to allow their website through you wont get it. If you dont pay to access the website you wont get it.
Rogers/Bell wants to make digital subscriptions only internet. You pay so much a month you get "X" amount of websites. You want to play online games you pay this much more per game.
Yes. You will get a basic package, just like cable TV, and then have to pay for other sites on a pay per page basis. If you want to research anything you will be limited to what you can afford. It will create a tiered access where the rich get it all and little ol' me and you get Fox, CBC, and of course anything they don't want you to see will no longer be available. Opinions will be supressed, justice delayed, the same propaganda as T.V., OHHHH! Canada!!
Hi, please excuse my dumbness lol. I'm a older net user. What does all this mean in Normal language? I'm lost. Whatever it means sounds not good? yeah, I'm a newbie to the net :)
Think of facism and propaganda. They want to limit your access to sites the big corporations want to let you visit, while 'innocently' silencing the websites they don't like. They do it under the guise of more profits, but it really is an attempt to censor the truth and tell people only what the rich and powerful want for us to hear. The beginnings of facism along with the North American Union.
The large ISPs own their network and can ultimately do what they want with it. The notion of the 'Internet being owned by the world' I'm okay with. The notion that those who own and invested in the path to get there should be forced to provide free access and have no say in how they manager their own network is ludicous.
Net Neutrality - maybe, But throttling is an entirely different issue. The big ISPs are not controlling what you see or do (even if they give some priority to their own data - that's the bonus if you sign with them. Companies in EVERY industry do this). They are prioritizing types of data so that functions like VoIP get priority over bittorrent and other obtrusive bandwidth hogging services.
boo hoo, you can't play oline games and download bittorrents all day and night grabbing any free space available in the pipe. Boo freankin hoo!! These networks are owned almost entirely by Bell, and NO the governemtn never paid for it. Bell did. Your wimpy alternative ISPs don't invest dime-one in capital yet cry when tough decisions need to be made by Bell. Throttling is NOT a Net-Neutrality issue. They are two entirely different things.
I can't believe you actually put "Canada" and "economy" in that same sentence!I would replece the word "Economy" with "oil" and I would replace "Canada" with "Alberta"
Good thing im in Denmark, ridiculous bills like these will never pass here. We are too clever ;) But if this happens then it will affect us all in some way.
Greetings from New Brunswick. I've been following the Net Neutrality story for quite some time, and unfortunatly in my small little town all that is available is the highly unreliable and overpriced Bell Aliant internet service. Now one thing I've not been given clear information on is that Bell is the only Canadian company pushing this idea, or are others such as Rogers and Shaw and other companies following it as well?
YouTube since it's worth a billion plus in stocks will most likely still be around since money talks. Instead, those who don't have any stock worth in the millions or billions are those who will suffer according to my understanding.
Boycont bell. Use a different ISP.
