1. Smooth tight responsive controls

2. Fast paced and exciting with quick killing weapons

3. Almost a limitless amount of costumization and prestiges

4. Easy access and simple to play with friends

5. A short learning curve to have fun but takes longer to master

There are games that to some of these things well but until someone can do all of the above and add something different and fresh i dont think call of duty will be knocked off its perch

Crysis 2, Brink and most definitely BF3. I play on Pc so those titles I'm really looking forward to. BF on Pc has a much larger community than on console, I prefer it over CoD. DICE are making sure they will get BF3 right, they were surprised how well bc2 sold and misjudged how long people would play for. They are learning from previous errors and are making sure BF3 is a solid game

Crysis 2 is good but we won't be playing it in 6 months time FACT. There won't be a COD killer until the next gen. While those of us that play a variety of games are getting bored of COD, there are thousands of players who ONLY play COD and will never get sick of it. Pick it up and play, in and out of games rapidly, fast gameplay - that's why COD is so popular. BF is awesome and IMO better, but takes a lot of effort to play in some cases.

Hey mate, if you have a PS3 you might want to check out KZ3.

To be perfectly honest I think it is by far the best FPS game out there together with COD4. I mean let's face it... all COD games since COD4 have been rather shitty. It's only the hivemind 14 year olds spending daddies money on every new COD game.

But KZ3 has definitely the BEST graphics and sound a FPS on console has ever seen. The netcode is incredibly fluent and the weapons are balanced. If you need a change from COD try it out.

I gave up on the COD series. Black Ops was supposed to revitalize the franchise and fix MW2's mistakes and it ended being a pile of fucking horse shit and 10x worse than MW2. IBO was cod's last chance and they fucked up. I'm just excited for Last Guardian, Uncharted 3, maybe crysis, and of course the almighty BATTLEFIELD 3.

Alot of game fall short of call of duty, this is because cod was one of the first games most fps players started playing constantly.. because of this when a new fps shooter comes out they compare it against cod not just comparing as a fps game.And even if it is a good game everyone has a subconsious bias twords the game there used to and like. its the same with rpg games there set to standerd with WoW not as just a rpg game.

If you think that then you obviously are quite ignorant because there were better fps than CoD then and now, Alot of the most bought things in the world arent anywhere near the best of the best. I personally loved CoD 4 yet with the sequels came a bit of boredom and a sense of stuff being rehashed so i played other fps games (yes they do exist!) and i found alot of them to be better than CoD in many ways such as skill and fun (Halo, Crysis 1 etc). Also WoW is an mmorpg not an rpg
