how is luck a bigger bust than russell? the raiders could have had Megatron, AP, Joe Thomas, Patrick Willis, Dwayne Bowe, Jonathon Beason, Darrelle Revis..It's not like the Chargers picked Leaf over Manning
Yes, Andrew Luck is going to be a "bust." Before Peyton Manning came into the league the Colts had drafted a great wr in Marvin Harrison, and a great LT in Tarik Glenn. This helped Manning throughout his career. The Colts are getting rid of all of their talent right now, and going to sign Luck to change it all around. The Colts just put themselves in place to be the worst team in the NFL indefinitely. Sorry Luck. Enjoy throwing to your star WR Garcon behind the worst OL in football.
@TheHTKProduction i know seriously, the colts are putting so much faith into him when they dont even need a QB...they should keep one of the best QB's to ever play the game and draft some defensive players to get that franchise going
marinovich was drafted before favre and had a horrible life i watched a documentary on him and ever since he was born his dad breaded him into a football player he fucked him up big time so im not surprised he lead a life of drugs. if he lived a normal life he woulda been one of the all time greatest qbs ever
@gammaraptor1 So one good game means = not a bust? Ryan Leaf was not a bust, 2 good victories until he went 1-15 for 4 yards against KC.
I can argue with those stats, 31.6 yards a pass came because of the decimated Steeler's secondary, he only threw the ball when his receivers were wide open, not when they are going to be open, you can without a doubt blame it all on injuries.
He doesn't have a low %, it is minuscule, in that game he only had 47%, he can't make throws that require skill.
Alex Smith made a huge improvement from these past few years your an idiot haha I'm an Oakland fan too but it doesn't take much to see that the new coaching has helped tons
@grandmayolli Dude, this was made BEFORE his break-out season, and he could be a one season wonder. When you start out with 1 TD and 11 interceptions, you're terrible for a first overall pick...
@gammaraptor1 he did not "led" the broncos on the first play, that was because of Demaryuis Thomas' moves, against a very very very injured Steelers team.
And his 47.3 completion percentage, lower than Russel and Leaf, and incredibly small amount of yardage, never once even coming remotely close to 300 yards in a game, is how he is put in the same category.
Come on, Andre Ware was far worse than Charles Rogers. Rogers actually played well in the games he did play in his first two seasons before his injury and the rest of his career came to an end because he turned slow due to smoking the wacky tobaccy. Ware. Heisman Trophy. Bust from the get-go.
Ki-Jana carter was not a bad first round draft pick, drafting him was was like drafting Adrian Peterson, career ending injury on 3rd play of his career, nothing you can do about that.
disagree with#7, he was not a bad pick, he just F***ed his knee, not a bad pick, just bad luck. also don't diss the CFL, Smith could not make it up here either
dont agree with people calling out alex smith...the dude had 6 OC in 7 years, had 4 head coaches, and each new coach came in hating him...now that harbough comes in and gives him the vote of confidence, a proper offense, and some belief in himself, hes become a decent QB
@ColtonBenge are you really going yo say that? cmon Alex Smith had a great defense and plus he only had ONE good season and the rest of his career is just not very good. Do you watch the NFL
@fr3shascanb3 seriously? this dude has had a new offensive coordinator basically every year he has been in the league, and has has a group of nobodies to throw the ball to. Granted he isn't a Manning who can turn bring the wackest receivers out of obscurity, dude is still putting up 3k yards a season and is a double threat because of his mobility. Not the BEST, but not a BUST. If you want to talk about having only 1 good season...lets talk about Tebow...and that wasn't even good
@TheSaturnWolf No one good to throw to? He has Crabtree and arguably the best tight end in the NFL in vernon davis.
Also, 3k yards in this era is about the equivalent of 2k yards any other year, I mean ffs 3 QBs threw for over 5k yards, another for 4900, and a 5th that was just over 300 yards short of 5k in 15 games.
Also, being the first overall pick, if you aren't playing at least CLOSE to an pro bowl level, you're a bust.
@ColtonBenge Alex Smith? I'm pretty sure they said Akili Smith! Also look at the date of the vid. Alex Smith was looking like a bust because he had not done shit up to that point and they took him over Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers.
@alansjf33 Jamarcus never went 1-15 in a season as a starter. Sure he was bad, not nearly as bad as Leaf looked after coming into the draft being compared with Peyton Manning. Russell was not the bigger bust.
Lawrence Philips disliked this video 6 times and it is fitting because he was selected with the 6th overall pick in 1996 by the Rams. Now, he was a BUST Bleacher Report.
You can't shit on Ki-Jana Carter, That's why I hate these lists. they group guys like Carter who literally had his body fail him with guys like Russell, Leaf and Carruth who failed because they fucked up all on there own not because of bad luck.
this is all bs! who was brainiac gm who thought jim druckenmiller was good not me.
heath shuler, rashaan salaam, matt leinart should be on the list this shit is stupid i can name 1000 guys who didnt pan out. biakabutuka lawrence phillips cedric jones i can go forever
Tony Mandarich was most certainly a bust, but most people forget he was a starting Gaurd for the colts for about 5 seasons and was very productive there. He was just picked WAY to high. I just don't think he is Top 10 worth. Neither was Carter, poor guy just couldn't stay healthy.
@bearclawsrock You do realize there were 5 white players and 5 african american players on this top 10 and the #1 was white? Just making sure you noticed that.
Eric Kummurrow 6"7 de/lb same draft could have had Chris spielman???, Sammi smith runs a 4,38 same draft emmit smith??? GINN wr traded up get cant lose detriot johnson or hall of famer willis yes we had lb's but he was a hall of famer. thier is a reason why bolt and carl lewis never playd in the nfl. just for miami
Wuerffel, Crouch, and Q are not busts because they weren't hyped coming out of college. Good college players, but no one really expected em to be great. How the hell is Druckenmiller on this list? Hed was all big-east before the big east and va tech was any good. The fact that Heath Shuler of my Redskins was left off is painful to me, because i hate him so much. Andre Ware and Davide Klingler should both be on this list as well, along with Rashan Salaam
What a terrible list. Carauth isn't a bust because he killed someone. He performed on the field and his murder is not related to the list. Carter got hurt. Manderich actually had a decent career during his comeback. The list is based much on personal falicies. Arrests, drug issues, gambling. Whoever wrote it is a RACIST who must think that the WHITE way is the RIGHT way....what a joke
@bearclawsrock Amen, I couldn't have said it better myself. Carruth actually fulfilled his contract, and showed lots of promise. Just think about it. He could've actually been (and he was developing in to) a guy we know today as Steve Smith. Carruth was the same height, temporarily wore the same #, and was faster than Steve Smith. And actually if you look into the details of his trial, there is little to no solid evidence that he had anything to do with the murder. So this list is clearly bias.
@doggreen I have to agree with this. It has never made sense to me that analyst would label a player a bust because of an injury that the player couldn't control.
I don't think Ki-Jana Carter was that bad. How do you fault a pick when the guy basically has a career ending injury on his second carry? Akili Smith and David Klingler were worse.
@ThaJHawk Nah, he started his career on a team that had JUST been established, he was guarenteed a less than average career after going to the Texans. Plus, he's still in the league, so he really can't be called THAT big of a bust.
it's almost impossible to made a top 10 all time bust overall. I think it could have more sense doing a top 10 bust for every position. Many times defensive player are not mentioned in this chart, but what about Aundray Bruce, Brian Bosworth, or Dewayne Robertson? These are only the first three names that come in my mind.
Rae Curruth was stupid!! Stupid stupid stupid!! He had his pregnant gf killed because he didn't want to pay child support!!!!!!!!!!!! this mf was a mf NFL player! Who had a descent rookie year! But now he in prison! Then when he was on the run from the cops he hid in the damn truck!!! Rae smh then the dude was in Nashville damn he should be #1 ! smh
I can never say that someone who had his career cut short because of injury is deserving of being a bad first round pick. But thanks anyway for a history lesson.
how is leaf still worse than russell? leaf was taken second and was paid far less. Russell got a picked 1st overall and got a kings ransom that was so large the raiders went to court to try to get some of their cash back.
@sviveiros12 Because Ryan Leaf was hyped three-times as much as Russell was, stunk out of the gate, and couldn't hang on in the league. At least Russell was smart enough to wait until he was out of the league to start causing and getting into trouble. If anything Russell's too high on this list- Mandarich was worse off, Sclichter pissed his career away and did worse things, fucking Druckenmiller was cut after two teams in two years! How is he only ninth?
The Biggest first round draft bust for my Chiefs was in the famous 1983 Quarterback Draft. It was the draft class that saw John Elway, Jim Kelly, Dan Marino, Tony Eason, Ken O'Brien, and Todd Blackledge. All were mega stars in collage, but only Todd turned out to be a bust and he was the 2nd QB taken in the draft behind only Elway. All the others went on to have good to great to Hall Of Fame carriers.
vince young is a bust, lets be honest guys. This is why you dont pay these fucking rookies big money. Rookies should make 1 million max the first year!! If they do good after 3 years then pay them more money! You dumbass owners!!!
@buckwheat40 You cannot do that due to the collective bargaining agreement. Anyway, ever since Joe Namath players haven't been paid on what they have produced, but what they might do.
JaMarcus was so bad, that the Raiders haven't given his number to anyone. Most likely because they don't want anyone to remind them of that disappointment.
I think there should be an * next to carter cuz his knee was destroyed. never got a shot unlike these other players

@18stallions Um, already has 3000 passing yards, and is on pace to break the all-time record for rushing Touchdowns in a season by a QB

David Carr.

@ThaJHawk Walt Patulsky and Pat Sullivan were huge busts in the '70s.
DexterHaven49 3 months ago
@ThaJHawk Nah, he started his career on a team that had JUST been established, he was guarenteed a less than average career after going to the Texans. Plus, he's still in the league, so he really can't be called THAT big of a bust.
shreddinmetal4life 3 months ago
it's almost impossible to made a top 10 all time bust overall. I think it could have more sense doing a top 10 bust for every position. Many times defensive player are not mentioned in this chart, but what about Aundray Bruce, Brian Bosworth, or Dewayne Robertson? These are only the first three names that come in my mind.
turboreattore 3 months ago
2 and 1 need to be switched. Leaf sucked, but Russell was even worse.

rollie2816 3 months ago
@rollie2816 Brian was an average player. No where near the hype but unlike these people he had a career.

I have always liked those coaches who build a team with veterans. Let the other guys draft and train 'em.
cochranexyz 4 months ago
I can never say that someone who had his career cut short because of injury is deserving of being a bad first round pick. But thanks anyway for a history lesson.
HHSGDFootballJPD 4 months ago
how is leaf still worse than russell? leaf was taken second and was paid far less. Russell got a picked 1st overall and got a kings ransom that was so large the raiders went to court to try to get some of their cash back.
sviveiros12 4 months ago

Here are some numbers:
TD/INT - 29/38
Yards - 5,286
Rating - 60.2
Comp/Att - 424/881
Pct - 48.1

where are Andre Ware and Vince Young?
buckwheat40 4 months ago
@buckwheat40 Vince wasnt too bad
cocainmonster 4 months ago
@buckwheat40 vince young was such a punk in tenessee!!
SportsBioZone 2 months ago
vince young is a bust, lets be honest guys. This is why you dont pay these fucking rookies big money. Rookies should make 1 million max the first year!! If they do good after 3 years then pay them more money! You dumbass owners!!!
buckwheat40 2 months ago
@buckwheat40 But he was 30-17 as a starter for the Titans. How is that considered a bust? Maybe if you only look at stats, then sure.
Hellogoodbye90gm 2 months ago
@buckwheat40 You cannot do that due to the collective bargaining agreement. Anyway, ever since Joe Namath players haven't been paid on what they have produced, but what they might do.

JaMarcus was so bad, that the Raiders haven't given his number to anyone. Most likely because they don't want anyone to remind them of that disappointment.
HaloElitesrule 4 months ago
Ok..so Leaf was the worst...but the Raiders, Colts and Benglas each have TWO players on this list!!!
Add to the Raiders every draft pick for the past 10 years...and they win hands down as the worst. Heyward-Bey will be on this list too.
