  • Great I know how to harmonize LA LA LA. Problem Solved.

  • gay

  • Why does it seem like everyone hates EHow and HowCast? They help out.

  • actually.....he is wrong about what a harmony is, a harmony is any pitch other than the pitch of the melody....this is the reason that there is the terms dissonance and consonance

  • @brandoneargle1 in music....

  • That was helpful thanks! La la la!!!!

  • omg...the guy standing looks like a zombie standing there..XD LOL!

  • 0:17 A wild person appears.

  • so a harmony is three octaves higher?

  • @foreverxundefined No, a third... an octave is 8 steps between the same pitch of the same frequency... A third is just a small amount above the original note.

  • @NicoDeEspana or below...

  • Great vid!

  • Why so many mean comments? Such cowards behind the keyboard. If you didn't like it, move on.

  • WOO MIAMI!

  • hahaha that was a epic fail harmony, the pianist was flat on the 2nd interval

  • @joesatriani1200rulez yeh i could tel that aswell haha

  • @jazzscherzo - You are so crazy!

  • @BuyersREALTOR what did jazzscherzo say? i missed the joke and he closed his account D:

  • I had natural harmonising techniques... Then I lost it, so i had to watch this lol I fail

  • @AstatineMime thats ok I play five instruments but I can never harmonize my voice

  • that student is.... EVERYWHERE ON THESE SINGING VIDEOSSSS

  • The descending 3 note melody is E-D-C, and the descending 3 note harmony is G-F-E? Do I have that right? Would the lower notes of C-B-A also be in harmony ?

  • @jazzscherzo LMFAOO!! this is the funniest comment i've seen in a while

  • @glittered453 yeah i know right!

  • Hey, could you help?? I am really wanting to learn to harmonize but have tried and failed. Can you please check my two Vidz of me trying to harmonize and give some advice? Thanks in advance.

  • hahaha! that was short and sweet and surprisingly very helpful for me! thank you :) it's funny too haha!

  • the student looks like a serial killer!

  • The audio is off :P

  • @jazzscherzo lmfao !! hahaha

  • know the scale, choose a note in the scale. sing a major third. that's basically the video.

  • want to learn how to harmonize? all you have to do is know exactly how to harmonize, and you can do it.

    -_-'

  • What does a third above the melody mean?

  • @kitaru0kun it basically means 3 notes above the actual pitch... if i was on do you would be on mi. if you were on mi id be on so. etc.

  • @kitaru0kun I think it's the third note in the key. like if the key is Bb then it's D (Bb, c, d). :)

  • @jazzscherzo XDDD

  • haha thumbs up if you think this guy looks like johny knocksiville

  • You didn't even tell us how to harmonize... wat the heck.

  • @babygurll7 info = money daah!

  • @babygurll7 Yeah he did... he said that he was just singing a third above the original note... not rocket science surely?

  • @babygurll7 he did. he said its singing HIGHER or LOWER than the original song or person

  • "...and making it sound good." Yeah, that's helpful.

  • I read @jazzscherzo's comment before I watched it and when I did I couldn't stop laughing hahahaha.

  • And my student is going to sing La La La... Aren't you? AREN'T YOU!!! If you ever want to see the light of day again you'll sing! NOW SING GIMP! SING!

  • How is this guy a singing coach. He cant ever sync his mouth with his voice.

  • this doesn't help at all...

  • Those are the two best highest rated comments I have ever read! XD

  • is this guy gay??!!:D

  • You guys are weird

  • @pamelanewton1234 your mom

  • You guys are weird that guy is just bored he is probably a professional.

  • You guys weird that guy is just bored he is probably a professional.

  • the student kinda reminds me of John C. Reilly haha

  • @jazzscherzo i laughed hard at that.

  • lmmfao ! he looks blind cause he dosen't directly look at him but he also looks like he wants to jump on the teacher !

  • @jazzscherzo can't stop laughing!! xDDDDDDDD

  • That student looks so pissed.

  • Behind the student he is in chains and a shotgun is pointing at his back, his family are tied up n gagged in chairs! they release him at 1:26

  • he didnt teach meee

  • Jesus christ is future king of mankind

  • @jazzscherzo lmfao

  • You can pause this video at any given point and he'll have the weirdest facial expressions ever! :P

  • @jazzscherzo - i actually just lol'd at your comment soo true looool

  • Thank you for this instruction. It has really helped.

  • pause at 4 sec

  • @jazzscherzo DUDE!!!!! xD ur hilarious .....

  • If a song is in the key of F# how would I harmonize with that song? I want to sing higher but every time I try to it sounds awful - the notes don't blend. The song is Hero by Mariah Carey. Any suggestions?

  • @emmanuel27noriega

you're trying to sing higher than mariah carey??

    well there's your problem

  • @2192jm Well, don't forget Hero is not a high song. She sings it with her Chest Voice. I have a 7 octave range and I go as high as she can with my Whistle Register. If I use my Full Voice I can sing Hero like she does - the same notes I mean. I want to harmonize with the song by going like 3 notes higher but I want the notes to blend. I already have some tips from someone but I just want to see what others have to say :)

  • @2192jm I can :D

  • I've since learned how to do this with my guitar, the backing, so I can pluck the notes, then pluck a 3rd above...I believe its play C, D, E, sing to it, then play E, F, G and sing C,D,E while playing EFG..watching this now it makes complete sense and I get it. This is parallel harmony, I also like tutti harmony, where you sing against the melody in parts, not on every word.....when you know nothing this video is tougher...its not "C is for Cat" enough....

  • @auctionmusic

Yeah thats what harmonizing guitars do lol, to be honest i like to use the lower octave of the 3rd not instead of the same octave etc. CDe, 2nd octave cDE

the lower case would be the harmoznied

  • @jazzscherzo most hilarious comment I've seen all week :D and so true!

  • now i know who NOT to take lessons from

  • @jazzscherzo hahahahaa xD

  • All this video told me was that I needed to stay in the same chord range or something. Which would make absolutely no sense to a person who knew little music theory.

  • The lack of harmony in the comments shows most of us still have much to learn about the subject.

  • LOL. this reminds me of my chorus class.

  • This guy tries too hard to do everything lol

  • Wow, that was pretty good.

  • That student is scared to move or make eye contact.

  • fail

  • The dude at the piano talks to the other dude like he's 6 years old..

  • @TheDibbly88 lol... 'now let's try eating solid foods!'

  • LAAAAAA LAAAAAAA LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

  • @eHow

    FIamer

  • Ahahaha the student looks hecka serious. Man I bet he scared the little kids out... hehe lol

  • oh i paused it on 3 seconds in by accident, his face looked rather funny!!!!

  • fantastic thanks

  • ummmmmmmm.......that was odd

  • im sorry but what 3rd above original melody means?

  • @fastsvn means if he is singing Do, then u go to the 3rd note in the chord which is Mi :D Do is first.. its the scale, Do Re Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti Do. and remaining a third above throughout the entire harmony. One sings Do Ti La, while the other is a 3rd above and sings Mi Re Do. :D hope this helped lol

  • The student looks bored :))

  • @iPaulTV iDon't see why that matters.

  • @krice66 I know people are so immature.

  • i don't get it

  • He pronounces things too well. He opens his mouth too wide when he talks. It bothers me greatly

  • @Kengiedengi One thing they teach is to REALLY enunciate your words. That way when you sing it doesn't get hard to understand when the music is going too. Its obvious he stresses it.

  • lol @ the comments below

  • very well done for a 1:33 clip

  • @jazzscherzo

They probably keep him locked up in the basement and he has to harmonize to get food.

  • @dudekyle13x ahahahahaha

  • @dudekyle13x his hands were tied behind his back until he harmonized.

  • @dudekyle13x hhahahahaha

  • @dudekyle13x I literally started laughing out loud when I read this!

  • thats it? my dog could of told me that

  • @salmon020 hahaa, your dog is a genius

  • Then stop wasting your time here. Turn off your computer and start taking lessons from your dog.

  • @timeflie2 could be interesting!

  • pause at 0:11 lol

  • lol lol lol lol lol

  • that dude on the left is focused like shit

  • lol no joke, they look so similar that when I first saw his student at 0:19, my legit first thought was "It must be his clone"

  • Whoa... Would you like an epic with that cheese?

  • the ''student'' acts like a robot / military soldier or something.....rofl

  • avoid eye contact with this guy.

  • This is the most retarded thing on the internet.

  • mas isso é cantor de opera? a voz é muito branca e popular

  • @LaIndependant

    I meant to say impossible

    Typo, my bad

  • @rur0un1x

    You've been busy haven't you?

  • @kevintarzandotier

    I'm sorry?

  • First impression, 3 seconds into the video: That's one happy guy! Too happy!

  • If your wages were like what this guy charges, you'd be too happy too. :\

    Vocal coaches are waaay expensive.

  • @Restockingtues that's why I'd go with a decent coach; not this 'let's over-complicate everything' guy.

  • @kevintarzandotier

well you don't want to watch a video with a sad man introducing whatever do you?

  • Straight to the point and simple! Thanks :)

  • other dude doesn't look to happy

  • the standing co looks a little dumb

  • thank youuu! ^.^

  • y is da lysync off

  • thank you!

  • wtf did you lose your minds

  • dude the sounds out of tune lol

  • it is out,you're right

  • @rolande1990

    You missed the point

  • Ol' dude on the left is not playing.Haha

  • so for a way to practice for me is: can i sing a note in the guitar then move the capo up and sing both of those together?

  • He looks like the type of person who would spit on you accidently whilst talking.

I thought harmonizing was pretty easy, it comes naturally

  • i think he's mean.. hehehe, i agree with you that it comes naturally but i the lower harmony is hard to get...

  • @screamolives you see I hear that alot but to me its like a have a mental block of harmony.....I can sing really good too. Rnb.....but I cant record well cuz I cant seem to grasp the concept of harmony. A lot of people say you need to have the ear for it, That sucks.

  • @screamolives Not for everyone it's not. I find it easy too.

  • any song that i hear, i can harmonize the higher part, but not the lower. it's so frustrating! it won't just pop into my head like the higher one did.

and this one didnt help! ARGH D:

  • same here, i'm a natural bass, but i usually end up singing 1st tenor parts haha

  • yeah! it's weird D:

  • @denniss555 You can't really be a bass then, else you'd have to sing the tenor part in falsetto. Even if you're skilled enough to sing high tenor notes properly, there's no way you'd be able to comfortably sustain the tessitura.

Therefore, you must be a 'natural' mid-light baritone.

  • You'll improve with time ;) And it depends a lot on the song... But pop songs are easy. Just keep harmonizing :)

  • me too, i can also harmonize using the higher part and can only do the lower part when i already heard someone else who sang it that way...

  • its hard to harmonize, it's very difficult and im not a good singer but i am in a chior

and i would need tips and such on how to

  • I learned to harmonzie, but it was only after much effort trying to find examples. Your example suffers the same problem as most of the others. You sing the harmony together, but not separate. I hear the first guy, then the both of you together....the trouble is, I need to hear the first guy sing alone, THEN you sing alone, THEN the both of you together...most dont show BOTH sides of the harmony separately....must be folks want to keep it all a secret I guess....

  • @auctionmusic

they are trying to demonstrate how you it would sound with the original tune.

You can't harmonize with nothing. You can't harmonize with yourself.

  • I don't know why this is so hard to understand...I'll try again.... I need to hear EACH harmony part first...SEPARATELY...so I know what each SEPARATE harmony part sounds like...then hear them together after. If I hear one harmony part, then both together, I don't know what the second harmony part sounds like by itself. I hope this makes sense...

  • @auctionmusic

Do you know what "harmony" is?

It is possible to harmonize with one sound, but you have to know what chord you are doing it off of. You then later play your sound with the chord to see if you harmonized.

Harmonizing with one sound is impossible.

  • @rur0un1x unless you can do Tuscan throat singing...

  • @auctionmusic you must have serious problems with differentiating pitch! He even said 'start a third above' and gave the first note. If you think that for every note of the melody the harmony was a third above, I don't see why you'd need to hear the harmony...

In any case, if you can hear a difference between the two voices, all you need do is focus on one voice and follow the sequence of notes sang.

  • Works for me.

  • the sound is l8te.....

  • nice vid, wish the guys in my band would watch, lol. It was sort of like watching an old kung fu movie there a bit too. :)
