Here here, m0bi. Unfortunately, because the idea of "gender" is very much largely defined by our collective Human culture, "typing" is easy to fall into. There is also a female centric element in Human culture that seems to lend it self to men copying women, or rather, copying a "female ideal."

Yea, I really like Genesis P-Orridge, but I must say, that alot of transgendered people I meet havent really been interested in smashing the constraits of gender, but merely becoming the "other" gender. And I think that gender is one of the social constructs that we all should attack and do away with. I really like when people dont really fit into either category, male or female, but break out of the binary way of thinking altogether.

The fact that transgenderism so commonly ends up being men doing a weird parody of feminine stereotypes seems so stupid to me, quite frankly. In what way is that (r)evolutionary? Can't we feel beatiful and good about ourselves without resorting to hokey reactionary behavior that endlessly alienates people from us - and alienates ourselves from others? It seems like Gen has become an eloquent but frozen adolescent. It's good that he exists, though, he's inspired me and many others over the years.

I appreciate where you're coming from but transgenderism is not always "about" just taking on another set of stereotypes (though it can involve that). I know female to male trans people who actually identify as rather "femmy" men, rather than some lumberjack wannabe. Gender is a spectrum. I for one don't mind alienating other people and alienating myself from other people so long as I can pursue the kind of life I want.
