It's not dangerous if your body is turned properly. If you're left handed, your right leg is in front and your right shoulder is in front. The left leg is angled and in back. In this position you can roll left uppercuts, hooks, and jabs. Cory Spinks did it, so did Pernell Whitaker. Just look it up and watch it.
I agree. It's just that whenever a challenger went down there to Arkansas, he had to score a clean knockout to win. The judges were manufacturing rounds for Taylor. Then Lampley and Merchant gave an inaccurate assessment of the action on top of it. Spinks made it look like a sparring session.

Clottey, IMO, at this point is the best fighter at 147. I believe he has the most tools at his disposal and is overall the more well rounded fighter. He's also the densest, hydrating to damn near Light Heavyweight sometimes after weigh in. I personally think his Skillset is completely overlooked and people don't understand how good he is or how big he is in there.
mayweathers ability to stand under fire and land quick accurate counter punches makes his fights much more intresting than a guy that never wants to engage in a fight..cory is always going backwards..even though he outpointed jermaine i could never give spinks the benefit of the doubt in that fight..he was the smaller quicker man he hit jermaine and ran the whole time..lol thats not boxing i see why he didnt come away with the decision
I'm not arguing who the more skilled is, just telling you who works more in the ring.. and that's Cory. I prefer Clotteys defense over everyones though, since you brought up defensives. Floyds also gotten very flat footed in his last outings. A prime floyd could do what Cory does sure, but not now. Floyd also isn't much of a jabber. Coreys entire style is based on his flicking jab, something floyd doesn't do. Floyd moves beautifully when he does but he can't punch whilst doing.
i dont know man..i still beleive floyd still has a couple prime years left..the guy retired at 31 and has never really taken a beating..lol i'd have to wait until after the marquez fight before i comment on that..he retired in his prime hes only been gone about 8 months my money says he's still in his prime..as far as him being flat footed..floyd is a versatile fighter he can beat u in many different ways and i respect that about him as a fighter

I'd personally rather watch a floyd fight than a Cory 1 though, I won't argue with that LOL. But I've always found coreys style beautiful to watch. I love his movement and his ability to fight on his bike and move laterally so fluidly. I dunno. Him and Zab 1 and 2 are one of the better fights I've seen.. pure skill from both parts. Whereas floyd vs zab showed the complete opposite.

You're my new best friend, lol. I'm probably Clotteys biggest fan today, I love him. I won't argue his defense his better than Winkys, I agree it is. His eyes are better as well, he can also slip punches with the best of them. Him and Winky both got their styles from Quartey, and I think Clottey has mastered it better even then Ike himself. Telling people he will beat Cotto is like pulling nails. I don't see what they think Cotto has to break that shell and stop Clotteys left hand from going off
the only thing that worries me about clottey is that he somtimes has a tendancy to be a little too defensive..he'll go thru lapses where he'll shut down his offense..he cant do that and expect to beat a fighter of cottos caliber..clottey has to keep the pressure on i think its absolultey critical for clottey to pick up his work rate in this fight,..the only way i can see cotto besting clottey on the scorecards is if he completley outworks him.. clottey has to stay active for the full 12 rounds !

I couldn't disagree anymore. Mayweather is a Counter puncher, cory isn't. Corry works and throws more punches per round than mayweather does. According to punch stats Mayweather is more of a runner than corey is. The sole difference being that Mayweather will play the ropes more and give his opponent something to swing at, thus making his opponnet work. Whereas corey will continue to move laterally and his opponent doesn't get off at all.. But he totals more punches than floyd.. do the math
If there is more action in a mayweather fight, then it doesn't come from Floyd. It comes from his opponents punching at air all night, because Floyd plays the ropes. Corey, statistically, throws more than floyd though, which would in turn equate to running less. Hopkins is more of a runner than Corey. Punching less, hugging more, and laterally moving just as much. I personally respect all 3 and don't see why people woudl criticize a fighter for being victorious regardless how he did it.

some judges base the fight on high punch output and ring control..some score the fight more on clean effective punching and agressivness..just because the judges in the 2nd fight scored it in favore of spinks doesnt mean every other panel of judges would have done the same..lol as ive said before boxing is a sport that is very inconsistently judged..just because the judges had it in favor of spinks doesnt mean every fan should follow suite and beleive the same

I used to be Cory's attorney - I got with him right after he lost to Piccirillo. After the first Judah fight we saw Floyd on the way to the press conference and asked him to come in and try to hype the fight up. There was some talk of it but Floyd didn't step up in weight at that time and I'm not sure King and Arum even discussed it seriously.
Spinks is a top top skill fighter in boxing. Elite to the fullest. He wasn't suppose to compete with those big guys like Taylor and Karmazan . Great courage and great skill. I see it. I recognize it, so does his opponents.

the hype takes it form in the multiple undeserved title fights in different weight classes. jumping over mandatory challengers who fought their way into contention and are more than just a legacy story. is he a decent person? seems like, never heard anything bad about the man, but the boxer is not anything to rave over.
Leon is his father and Michael is his uncle. Very very good skilled boxer. Doesn't have a lot of pop but he beats you more with skills(movement, slips, feints) than he will with power. His lack of power is what makes the average fan not care for him but he's definitely an elite level boxer. He and Mayweather would be an incredible match because one of them would definitely have to be the aggressor.

mayweathers ability to stand under fire and land quick accurate counter punches makes his fights much more intresting than a guy that never wants to engage in a fight..cory is always going backwards..even though he outpointed jermaine i could never give spinks the benefit of the doubt in that fight..he was the smaller quicker man he hit jermaine and ran the whole time..lol thats not boxing i see why he didnt come away with the decision

I'm not arguing who the more skilled is, just telling you who works more in the ring.. and that's Cory. I prefer Clotteys defense over everyones though, since you brought up defensives. Floyds also gotten very flat footed in his last outings. A prime floyd could do what Cory does sure, but not now. Floyd also isn't much of a jabber. Coreys entire style is based on his flicking jab, something floyd doesn't do. Floyd moves beautifully when he does but he can't punch whilst doing.

i dont know man..i still beleive floyd still has a couple prime years left..the guy retired at 31 and has never really taken a beating..lol i'd have to wait until after the marquez fight before i comment on that..he retired in his prime hes only been gone about 8 months my money says he's still in his prime..as far as him being flat footed..floyd is a versatile fighter he can beat u in many different ways and i respect that about him as a fighter

I'd personally rather watch a floyd fight than a Cory 1 though, I won't argue with that LOL. But I've always found coreys style beautiful to watch. I love his movement and his ability to fight on his bike and move laterally so fluidly. I dunno. Him and Zab 1 and 2 are one of the better fights I've seen.. pure skill from both parts. Whereas floyd vs zab showed the complete opposite.

i am a huge fan of josh clottey..i always have been..clotteys defense is a fairly simple one..but effective..he just has that high guard similar to winky wrights..call me crazy but i think clotteys is actually better..you can forget about swinging at his face you wont land a clean shot all fight long the guy picks off EVERYTHING thrown at the head...lol fukin puerto ricans man i completley give up on talking to any of them about anything miguel cotto related..i sware cotto is god to them

You're my new best friend, lol. I'm probably Clotteys biggest fan today, I love him. I won't argue his defense his better than Winkys, I agree it is. His eyes are better as well, he can also slip punches with the best of them. Him and Winky both got their styles from Quartey, and I think Clottey has mastered it better even then Ike himself. Telling people he will beat Cotto is like pulling nails. I don't see what they think Cotto has to break that shell and stop Clotteys left hand from going off

the only thing that worries me about clottey is that he somtimes has a tendancy to be a little too defensive..he'll go thru lapses where he'll shut down his offense..he cant do that and expect to beat a fighter of cottos caliber..clottey has to keep the pressure on i think its absolultey critical for clottey to pick up his work rate in this fight,..the only way i can see cotto besting clottey on the scorecards is if he completley outworks him.. clottey has to stay active for the full 12 rounds !

I couldn't disagree anymore. Mayweather is a Counter puncher, cory isn't. Corry works and throws more punches per round than mayweather does. According to punch stats Mayweather is more of a runner than corey is. The sole difference being that Mayweather will play the ropes more and give his opponent something to swing at, thus making his opponnet work. Whereas corey will continue to move laterally and his opponent doesn't get off at all.. But he totals more punches than floyd.. do the math

If there is more action in a mayweather fight, then it doesn't come from Floyd. It comes from his opponents punching at air all night, because Floyd plays the ropes. Corey, statistically, throws more than floyd though, which would in turn equate to running less. Hopkins is more of a runner than Corey. Punching less, hugging more, and laterally moving just as much. I personally respect all 3 and don't see why people woudl criticize a fighter for being victorious regardless how he did it.

some judges base the fight on high punch output and ring control..some score the fight more on clean effective punching and agressivness..just because the judges in the 2nd fight scored it in favore of spinks doesnt mean every other panel of judges would have done the same..lol as ive said before boxing is a sport that is very inconsistently judged..just because the judges had it in favor of spinks doesnt mean every fan should follow suite and beleive the same

thats not the POINT. the point is spinks kept the fight close enough (wining) before he got KNOCKED OUT. spinks landed more shots and was more busy than zab. i think he landed more POWER SHOTS ALSO. all zab was doing was looking for that one knock out punch. THATS NOT GONNA WIN YOU A FUCKIN UD. he got lucky and landed that a ko shot that won him the fight. GET OVER IT. GEEZ.

dont see how you can say that if you actually watched the whole fight..zab was dominating spinks the entire time before he finally knocked him out..its nothing like zab and kostya zu where in that case kostya zu was getting his ass handed to him and caught zab with a good shot..spinks would have lost to zab by u.d on points even if he didnt knock him out it was that dominant of a performance

LOOK at the FIRST vid on my favs. its the last round of the spinks zab fight. youll see that spinks was actually whoopin zab and 2 judges had him ahead by 2 POINTS. and THEN he got caught and knocked out. proves my point. people get caught. (it happens) going by the score cards spinks would have won a UD. spinks is a better fighter than zab. if they fought again, MOST likely spinks would win.

it's not that im a zab judah fan its more that i just dont like cory spinks.truthfully i hope the guy gets his head knocked off by anyone he fights against..cory outworked zab but alot of those punches where either blocked or cory just missed completley..when you look at the number of connects zab landed at a much higher clip it might surprise you that cory only landed a few more punches than zab..i gave zab credit for landing the more eye catching punches and pressing the action constantly

what floyd mayweather does is much different from what spinks does..your talking about 2 different styles of defense..mayweather although he will use his legs from time to time actually stands his ground more while defending as opposed to spinks who LITERALLY will hit you and run away..lol floyd utilizes his upper torso movement beautifully by shoulder rolling and picking off punches with his gloves..u coudnt hit mayweather in a phone booth

I used to be Cory's attorney - I got with him right after he lost to Piccirillo. After the first Judah fight we saw Floyd on the way to the press conference and asked him to come in and try to hype the fight up. There was some talk of it but Floyd didn't step up in weight at that time and I'm not sure King and Arum even discussed it seriously.

Leon is his father and Michael is his uncle. Very very good skilled boxer. Doesn't have a lot of pop but he beats you more with skills(movement, slips, feints) than he will with power. His lack of power is what makes the average fan not care for him but he's definitely an elite level boxer. He and Mayweather would be an incredible match because one of them would definitely have to be the aggressor.
