  • It had to be one of Jane Seymour's best movies ever, other than Somewhere in Time with Chris Reeves.

  • very touching.

  • This is one of the greatest moments in television history. The whole series was a masterpiece.

  • there is a very pretty version of this song by the Nitzane benyamin choir i love this song

  • I have not seen this clip since the early 90ss. I was a huge fan of the books by Wouk and the mini series was unbelievable. This always just pulls at my heart strings and just about brings me to tears. Thank you for posting this.

  • I love how she replaces the original child's name used in the song with Louis' name starting at 0:37. Translation of that line: "Sleep, little Louis, sleep."

  • Thank you for posting this! I love this mini series. It is hard to watch, yet it is also fascinating. And this scene is amazing.

  • Very touching. Lovely. Thank you.

  • Wow, so touching! I wish I would have seen the series.

  • What is this from??

  • @carlenecarter52 It's the last scene from the mini-series "War and Remembrance".

  • Hauntingly beautiful. I cannot tear myself from the video. Thank you for adding it.

  • Did he die?

  • @gigixlove No ... he was traumatised by his experiences while he, his mother and grandfather were trying to escape Nazi Germany (there's a clip on youtube called The Death of Jews parts 1,2 and 3 which shows how his grandfather is killed in Auschwitz). His mother was spared and sent to work, and was rescued. This is where she and her husband get their son back.

  • @roseanne74 : His great grandfather. Aaron was Nathalies grandfather. Her own dad dies in Winds of War from either a stroke or a heart attack. Louis is saved by Berel Jastrow.

  • I watched the entire series over the past couple of weeks. It is very emotion grabbing. I didn't think there was a movie that could express more than Schindler's List, but this movie did it.

  • Such a beautiful, bittersweet ending for W&R--a little different from the book. Here, Byron and Natalie's embrace gives hope for a "happily ever ending" for them.

  • Probably the best tv-show ever!

  • How come the rest of W&R has been removed from you tube? It's a great show.

  • It is just a video clip and is still so hard to listen to. It touches one's soul.

  • So beautiful, I tried to buy the dvd but it not for sell in Holland does anybody know if it on the internet

  • This video brought tears to my eyes. I just watched War & Remembrance and I was so touched by the last scene where "Natalie" sang to Louis & was able to get a response from him. I was elated that Byron, Natalie and Louis are finally united. I played this last scene numerous times and I am very grateful to you for posting this moving scene here. Thank you so much.

  • In Yiddish, the lyrics are, "sleep, child, sleep". Here, they have Louis' name instead: "Slof-zhe Louie'le, shlof" (sleep, Louie, sleep). It's so sweet. My grandparents used to insert my name into their Yiddish or Hungarian lullably songs, too.

  • @Lala6300 the suffics "-zhe, or -że" comes from the polish dialect of Little Poland (malopolska) where its commonly used even today. Its so fantastic that you can find the proofs that the jewish and polish communities lived together for such a long time. and so sad that this world was destroyed in such a cruel way.

  • Beautiful, emotional, perfect <3

  • Wonderful !

  • This scene just pierces the heart--despite all the horror and destruction of the war, love and hope survive. I cried the first time I watched it and the fiftieth time I watched it. I'm surprised I didn't break the tape constantly backing up and replaying it.

  • This scene just pierces the heart--it's like the whole war comes down to this moment--despite all the horror and destruction, love and hope survive. I cried the first time I watched it and the fiftieth time I watched it ...I must have run it through the VCR countless times, it's a wonder the tape didn't break. I still have the miniseries on videotape but I really need it on CD.

  • Jane was so great in this...I have to say I cried multiple times...

  • Jane's father was of Jewish backround she has said, from Poland and many of his family members where in the camps. I forget her born name maiden .

  • Joyce Penelope Wilhelmina Frankenberg

her mother Mieke was also imprisoned in a camp in Japan

  • And Gloria Grace Prosper furnished the little boy's voice!

  • I had read both books, War and Remembrance was very explicit concerning the gas chambers. Louis had been saved from the camps by being shuttled out of Theriesenstadt, the fake "town" set up for The Red Cross to tour to inspect the conditions of refugees. After that inspection, the "town" was emptied and people sent to Auschwitcz. Louis was sent to a village in hiding and nearly killed there but he was found among the bodies of villagers.

  • incredible

  • would someone briefly explain what the whole story was about?

  • Wow... a tall order, as the books amount to some 2,000 pages, but I'll try! The Winds of War/ War and Remembrance tells the story of the Henry family and how their lives are affected by the events of the second World War. It skillfully combines their personal stories with their encounters with the likes of FDR, Churchill, Stalin, and Hitler. At the end, Byron Henry is reunited with his wife Natalie (an Auschwitz survivor) and their missing son, who until this point has been unable to speak.

  • The Winds of War, the first part of this series covering March 1939-December 1941 is also excellent. It aired 5-1/2 years before War and Remembrance came out. Hardly any of it is online though.

  • I remember a scene, where Louis and a large crowd of German prisoners are gathered ind the woods and shot by some German soldiers. Except Louis who is found sitting on the top of all the dead people. That was painfull to watch.

  • I have had this series since it came out and I can't believe this was posted. I am so glad. This most certainly makes me cry every time I see it. The whole thing was well done and this was a great way to end it....

  • I kinda didn't want it to ever end though, ya know? Maybe would have liked to see some finality of all the Henrys....Victor, Byron, Madeline back together with Natalie and Lewis...and also Janice and her and Warrens' son... one of the saddest parts is seeing Rhoda watch Pug and Pamela drive away together, wish they'd ended on a happier note, but...WW2.

  • Unbelievable! Just watching that almost brought me to tears, like it did when I saw it for the first time 20 years ago. That was such an emotional scene because it was the first time Louis talked after Byron found him and the first time he'd seen his mother in over a year. What a great mini-series, best of all time IMHO.

  • Jane Seymour once recounted that the Auschwitz scene in the mini-series was the most difficult scene for her to do as her mother was a prisoner in a concentration camp while pregnant with her.

  • Her mother couldn't have been pregnant with her while she was a prisoner in a (Japanese, by the way) concentration camp because Jane wasn't born until 1951.

  • do you have the whole movie

  • very nice. i should see the miniseries.

  • Wonderful scene, God Bless the Jews and America!!!

  • This scene always makes me cry. Jane did an outstanding job in her role.

Thank you so much for uploading this clip!

  • @KittyKatCleary Better than Ali McGraw, playing the same role in "Winds Of War".

  • Great scene!! Jane Seymour is a fantastic actress.

  • What movie is this from?

  • the tv miniseries "War & Remembrance" based on the Herman Wouk novel - a sequel to his "The Winds of War". It was broadcast in 1988. Excellent!

  • she is so talented!! and how dare we kick her off dancing with the stars!!!

  • What is this from?
