This is far and away the best arrangement of this classic ever. I have the original vinyl album but unfortunately no turntable to play it. Thanks a million for uploading this great classic and reminding me just how great it was.
Ronnie Zito, drummer on this album and Woody's "My Kind of Broadway" from the same period, was one of the best --shaped the sound of the band with his distinctive style, much as Dave Tough and Don Lamond had done earlier and Jake Hanna
Ronnie Zito, drummer on this album and Woody's "My Kind of Boadway," from the same era, was one of Woody's best --deserving as much praise as Don Lamond and Dave Tough in earlier Herman Herds, and Jake Hanna later.
My Funny Valentine (and the rest of the great songs on this album) live (!) from
the Basin Street West club in San Francisco, in 1965. The liner notes say
"my FUNKY valentine". Indeed. Some pretty hot, wailing playing in the middle of this thing. But then again, the names of the players who came through and sat in with the Old Woodchopper's band read like a Who's Who of jazz. The best wanted to play with his outfit; it was a jazz education even for the accomplished and pedigree'd.
Thank You,ForeverJazzy !!!

would do later.
