George Best is among the greatest players the game has seen but so is Messi. Interestingly Denis law who played with both rated Jinky Johnstone a better pure dribbler than Best. He was great, wonderful to watch and charismatic but remember to separate myth from reality. Best in not in a class of his own.
@tigerarmyrule Thanks for the comment but I have to disagree. On the matter of Jimmy Johnstone, well, that's a name I haven't heard for a while! JJ was an absolutely great player who never got the credit he was due as he was in Scotland away from media attention but won a E Cup winners medal in that great Celtic side. I recall JJ coming to England late in his career but he didnt shine - JJ was literally too good for players he had to play with - they couldnt anticipate his moves and passes!

@thetoon99 The problem with Edwards is he was pre TV age. I mentioned Best, Cruyff, Messi. Maradona. They are all supreme TV age dribblers. Older generations raved about Matthews, D Stefano, Alex James etc but we have so little to go on. Edwardes falls into that trap. All we can say is Best is the greatest United player we can access on video, though not as the mythmakers say, miles better than everyone. As good as Cruyff possibly but certainly not better.....that's damn good!!!!
