  • wow!, a lighter car with more power won!

  • 396 Chevy 435+ HP? I don't think it's stock.

  • 89 people's engines have less liters than my drink does...

  • so, if the dodge had a higher horsepower rating than the chevy and the dodge won, would you call the dodge a winner? if not, then i know of a 475 hp. charger that can more than handle the chevy. and there is probably a ford out there that can beat both of them and it goes on and on. look up worlds fastest muscle cars, the challenger is ranked #19 and there is no mention of the camaro in the top 50. don't get me wrong, i'm a motor head and like any thing fast including chevies.

  • The Chevy driver cheated, he was flicking boogers into the Mopar drivers eyes! (gotta' watch doze Rat Pack guyz :-p)

  • 2 classic american monsters. end of story

  • both cars were rated at 375 hp out of the factory so who won this race proves nothing.

  • @moparmenace59 Actually you have that backwards. It doesn't matter what they came out of the factory at, these two raced, and the Camaro won.

  • @moparmenace59 back then all muscle car companies under-rated their engines for insurance reasons.. we had a 1970 Olds 4-4-2 rated at 375hp from factory but were probably closer to 420ish-hp

  • Wow...I don't care who won...its 2 beautiful majestic cars going at it...

  • @Heavymetallord1

    My thoughts exactly haha

  • Bump the compression just 1 point on that low comp 440 and try that again chuckles :-p

  • I honestly didnt care who won that race, it was 2 beautiful American muscle cars goin at it, its like a catfight, you don't care who wins its just awesome to watch

  • It's a fact boys camaro's make better race cars!

  • Challenger was better because its a challenger.

  • which one wins depends on what transmission and rear end gears you are running .

  • Nothing ever changes, chevy was better than and is better now.

  • please learn the difference between then and than before someone else notices

  • @233monte Stupid comment

  • What a beautiful sight! I wish I could be as old as I am now but back in the muscle car days before Honda fags used to meet up in parking lots to see who has the smaller penis!

  • @thunderbirdlver lol,, i so agree with you

  • Not bad but you should have put more effort into more runs and more angles..fricken rookie

  • @BobbyBlueBlood Hey Ole Blue balls, How's that imaginary black on black 70 Challenger R/T 340 going for you. It must be made of die-cast or plastic because the only 70 Challenger 340 available was the A66 performance pkg with the E55 engine code. Give it up Ralphy, cut bait because your only Trolling your life away.

  • @70scarrestoguy

you ignorant slut!-- ever stop to think it's not the original motor you fucking dumb hillbilly..

next time you get one of your brilliant brain farts - keep it to yourself..

  • @BobbyBlueBlood Knock off you whining sniveling excuses, your not the first Internet Troll to get called out for having an overactive imagination. Get off your knees, own up to your behavior & take it like a man. when I recognized your username, I wasn't going to bother giving you a shot of your own medication but then I saw your still posting hatefully ridiculous one liners. Dude; You were caught Trolling an instantly recognizable lie, nearly everybody recognised the Bait, hook, line & sinkers

  • where is that deer when you need one..

  • @need2speed94 Yeah man I agree

  • gfhh

  • I'd still take the Challenger, it's just 1 of a kind vs. the Camaro's cookie cutter style. Both are sick though! :D

  • The dodge has prob extra 500 to 700 lbs on the chevy

  • Who ever made this is a douch

  • @Ratchetcross Who ever made you should have swallowed

  • @jeomomma now thats funny

  • I love the bowties but, NHRA had to make a new class when Dodge/Hurst released the LO23 Super Stock Hemi Dart in 68. Nobody else could even come close!

  • Comment removed

  • @70scarrestoguy True, there was also a 'Cuda your could get with the same "options". Not sure why I failed to mention it, maybe just in a hurry. I guess the point was more NHRA making up a new class because of the uneven playing field it caused. Regardless, those cars were quicker than GM or Fords offerings at that time. I wish I could go back to when I was 5 and gas was cheap and power was rolling out of Detroit in some great body styles. I'd want to be old enough to drive, tho!!

  • Lol, that's not the way it was when they were new. The 440's could beat just about anything that pulled up alongside of it. I watched many a 440, even 383's, beat the best GM's and Ford had to offer. Now, admittedly, the Buick GS was something else in 1970 and 71!

  • 81 People have imports lol

  • Wonder if we add about 1,000 pounds to the Camaro, or reduce the Challengers weight by about 1,000 pounds.....Wonder what would happen then???

  • No....Chevy and GM were out in front. NOBODY lays hands on the legendary Small-Block and Big-Block Chevy families which can even be found today commonly underneath just about anything on drag strips.

  • @Z28ChevySB I like the chevelles and late 60's camaros/firebirds etc. but...no, man. Back in the day, Mopars were clearly out in front. Maybe not in sales or popularity, but in engineering and durability. GM always needed more displacement and lighter cars to compete. I wouldn't refuse the keys that that '68 up there in the video though, hell no I wouldn't.

  • @SirKowalski666 Sure, back in the day, an off the lot Mopar was at the top with speed, hp, and straightline ability. If you look at the top 1/4 performers throughout 1963-1973 or so, a 426 HEMI was at the top and another 5 were in the top ten probably. But for the revolution that GM brought with the SBC and BBC gaining in the late '50s-'60s that echoes still today, I'd say they left there mark big time. A new SRT8 Challenger is awesome, but nowhere near a '70 HEMI 'Cuda.

  • @Z28ChevySB "A new SRT8 Challenger is awesome, but nowhere near a '70 HEMI 'Cuda."

    The recent R&T article had the SRT8 Challenger at 4.6s 0-60, 13.0s 1/4 mile @ 109.8, and 117 ft 60-0.

    The June, 2006 issue of Motor Trend had the 1970 hemi 'Cuda at 5.8s 0-60, 14.0s 1/4 mile @ 102, and 126 ft 60-0.

    .

Not only was the 1970 hemi 'Cuda beat by the 2011 SRT8 Challenger, but it was beat by the current V6 Camry to 60 mph.

  • @hitssquad

Go check out the Hotchkis '70 Challenger vs the newer version. It's here on youtube.

  • @hitssquad i believe he was referring to the Influence both The HEMI engine and the chevy small block had on the "horsepower wars" from the late 1950s to early 1970s. Some of the meanest engines ever built came out in the late 1960s. Today's muscle cars can clearly outperform yesterday's muscle cars in handling, 0-60, quarter mile, etc.

  • @hitssquad But the heart and soul and the classic design of the original muscle cars, the lope of a big cam, the rumble from a four barrel carb and a dual exhaust system, the smell of unburned gasoline from a non-emission exhaust.....it can't be duplicated in a modern machine, nor the nostalgia. Vintage Iron rules, and always will.

  • @hitssquad I meant awesome as in looks, rarity, and sex-appeal. I don't know about you, but I think its cooler to see an old Cuda rumble down main street than a SRT8. But of course for performance, yes the new challenger is the preferred choice.

  • Comment removed

  • @Z28ChevySB, yeah but most of the time i look at alchohol burnin drag cars they're usually 428's or 426 hemi's an some 460's, havnt seen to many 350s 396 or even 454's cuz there heads blow easy an there just not a preferred choice among top fuels, not sayin there bad motors cuz i love all old cars but facts r facts, plz dont comment back freakin out either

  • @rebelman364 Ok sry to comment back, but I'm not familiar with top fuel very much or even running an engine on alcohol for that matter. I was meaning pump gas, but how exactly do you figure bbc heads blow easily on alcohol/top fuel and what makes the hemis (and i guess the 460 ford) a better choice? I'm not angry saying this, merely curious.

  • Comment removed

  • @70scarrestoguy So hemispherical heads are the popular choice for high end drag racing? Not familiar too much with the Dart, just that they had the 440 hemi didn't they? Thanks for the input though.

  • @Z28ChevySB If you like the late 60s & early 70s Z28 Camaros or factory SCCA road race cars. Search YouTube for this pasted title. ( Trans-Am Series Racing Cars: 2010 Monterey Historics Part 2 of 2: Track ). Camaro Challenger & Mustang duking it out for the checkered flag

  • @70scarrestoguy Here's a cockpit view of the race, from the former Sam Posey #77 Challenger. Search YouTube > ( 2008 Monterey Historics Trans Am Race Challenger #77 Part 1 )

  • I love this hobby.

  • Yaaaaa,Chevrolet. But still would not care which one I owned,I meen dang thats a couple heavy hitters.

  • So, who won????????????

  • better suspensions?? I love old Mopars...but there the worst handling car of the big 3 makers

  • @dpo628 I would strongly disagree.

  • @dpo628 Right.... I would take your advice on this subject if you knew how to spell "they're" properly.

  • No brainer

  • hey man,you can't boss my boss barracuda around.

  • Just like BACK in the day .. Chevy WoN !!

  • Camaro won?? challenger must not have been properly tuned....or driven....or both!!

  • @KAYLAMARIE1017 Not necessarily true regarding the tuning & driving inadequacies. The Challenger R/T 440 Mag made 375hp, assuming a stock build, the Dodge is already down 60 hp. Factor in the difference between the 2 vehicle weights. The 68 Camaro 396 automatic weighs approximately 3,350-lbs whereas the 70 Challenger R/T 440 automatic weighs approximately 3,850-lbs. All else being somewhat equal, sixty horses & five hundred pounds is quite a handicap to make up.

  • @70scarrestoguy Let's be honest, back in the day Mopars ruled the straight line roads. Granted they didn't handle very well but never mind HP ratings and curb weight, a properly setup 440 would eat a 396 Camaro for lunch. My 70 GTX with 440 Magnum ran 12.20 on street tires. The car was well tuned and I know how to drive it. It was not heavily modified. The GTX was even heavier than the Challenger. I love all Musclecars including a 396 Camaro but Mopars were king of the street

  • Comment removed

  • lighter car and more power, well there you go.. good race

  • You have to remember that the Camaro is much lighter than the Charger. It is indeed faster in the quarter mile, but it's only a matter of time when the Charger would pass it and blow it away. Said simply, MORE HORSEPOWER!

  • @5inthehole

First, the video description says it's a Challenger, not a Charger. Also, it says the CHALLENGER has ~400hp, while the Camaro has 435+, so the Camaro has more power.

  • @superjimfuman Your right, I must have had thinking about a Charger when I watched this video. Being a Challenger, it would leave the Camaro (and I once owned a Z-28) choking on dust if both cars are "stock".

  • like both but camaro is what i always wanted it won

  • Mopar is definatly the better loser!!! Mopars been losing for years and the Hamy or Hemi are slow circle track motors!!!!!!

  • @noseypeople21, i just want to tell u nobody commented u or liked u because tht was a really stupid comment. even a chevy man or ford man will tell u a hemi is a quick and respected motor, and if u r reffering to the 440 being a hemi ur also wrong! and if ur saying a circle track motor(meaning nascar) theres a good reason they were banned from nascar in 1970 for being to dangerous(fast) and they werent fair for other drivers.. thank u for making an idiot out of urself.. likes please lol jk

  • Woah, the Camaro lit his ass up!

  • automatics.... yukk

  • lol i like both even a ford mustang

  • Comment removed

  • Who cares who won? Listen to those motors!

  • dont send a dodge to do a chevys job

  • @classicrocker2 Dodge is better then Chevy anyday

  • @Berger5307

Dodge's are better at what?, rusting away?

  • @bastardeyez Mopar was all-around better back in the day. Better valvetrains, better suspensions, better firing order (made for a broad torque curve and more peak torque) and they also were using electronic ignition standard on all models as opposed to Ford and GM's mechanical ignitions, and then there was still the option of buying a 426 hemi. It's okay, lots of people are ignorant to these things, but make no mistake people, mopar was out in front in the 60's and 70's.

  • @SirKowalski666 I'm just guessing but i'd bet you're a Mopar guy.lol

  • @5BobbyDavis Lol, you would think so, right? Naw man, It really depends on what era you're talking about. I'd take a mopar over anything if it was made in the late 60's or early 70's, but i'd take one of those new 5.0's over any other late-model muscle car. I also have a thing for the mid-to-late 70's trans-ams, they're fucking badass if they have a rebuilt engine with some keith black 10 to 1's or something along those lines.

  • I want that Challenger!!

  • I'd really like too see a Cougar Eliminator in that run against them 2

  • Put a Terminator Cobra in the mix and watch them both get killed.

  • Comment removed

  • I fail to understand why so many People think the fastest car is the best car.

  • They could of been parked and this would still be a great video.

  • Both those cars are amazing.!! Dodge&Chevy.!!!!!

  • Cant win em all.

  • 2 of the best cars ever built

  • Chevy beat that ass...

  • good ol 396 big block chevy

  • thats what im talking about....pure american muscle!!!

  • the 440 is just as fast as the 426 HEMI was until about 100 mph then the Hemi would leave the 440

  • @6t8olds Not true. My 440 Cuda never got beat by a hemi in the 1/4 mile running in the same class. As a matter of fact, I rarely ever saw a hemi beat a 440 in the same calss at the drags and I've been racing for 40 years.

  • @kenzo5716 Sorry but ya its true depends on the situation I said the Hemi was faster when it got around 100 and up how fast did your 440 run in the quarter the hemi was just starting to open up at the finish line i bet if you kept running against the hemi (pure stock no modifications to either of the engines) the Hemi would beat the 440!! in the quarter sure they were close match but if you kept racing past a quarter mile the hemi would win better top end so yes its true..

  • @6t8olds Sorry sonny. Don't try to lecture an experienced racer and engine builder on semantics. Find somewhere else to play.

  • @kenzo5716 Ok so just because you have age on me I dont no ok? An I never said the Hemi wasnt unbeatable sure a 440 might win every now and then but so did the hemi. My whole life i've been around 440's great engines but you cant deny history or the facts that the Hemi does have more top end then the 440, if the 440 was so much better then why wasnt it used in nascar in place of the Hemi or in place of the Hemi's that powered the mopars in the super stock class in the 70's?? But what do i no ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @6t8olds, righ on dude i used the same facts on another idiot who said hemis were a slow circle track motor, definately a like

  • Comment removed

  • @6t8olds Its like this, the 440 and hemi both stock, the 440 out torques the hemi, because of design, now lets start to modify the engines, fyi thats were the intentions from the start, as u add modifications the Hemi begins to out power the 440 especially in the higher revs, Because of design, fair enuff, im old also haha 8-D

  • @6t8olds Stock 69 roadrunner 440 6pack was actually faster than the 426 hemi cuda and chevelle 454 ss.

  • Is the 426 hemi not faster that the 440 ?

  • Chevy all the way.

  • Fatch1mp your a dumbass. The challenger would have won. But did it? I didn't think so.

  • challenger rt would beat the camaro

  • the new challengers weigh too much.

  • @TheZoelzer2 yep, That's why you don't get a back heavy car like the challenger.

  • what did you expect? The Challenger is quite a bit heavier, and is puttin out less HP. the race was decided before it started. unless the camaro crashed or something.

  • not the top challenger... nice off set.

  • @MaikeP71 I agree, not 500... camro is top though... failtastic.

  • Camaro FTW then and now.

  • one of the best racing videos involving two iconic muscle cars. This video definitely reminds me of Dazed and Confused. ah memories at last.

  • camaro es un chota

  • This is where its at. All engine mano-e-mano. The old days where people raced engine vs engine and it was all the skill in who build the better/faster engine. Now people see who paid someone to put the bigger supercharger/turbo/nitrous kit then whine about cubic inches and the need for such power adders. We have all seen a small block chevy beat a big block chevy without the need for a supercharger. Never the less a fine pair of cars here!

  • figures , both nice cars tho

  • @in1fuckenworld you need a bit of a reality check here. First of all, you haven't put your 440 TNT in a Mazda MX6 yet? Is that some kind of joke? Secondly, no 440 ever came stock with two 4-barrels on it. Also, the TNT wasn't some kind of special performance option. That was just how Chrysler labeled the high performance 375hp 440 in cars like the 300. Dodge called it the 440 Magnum and Plymouth called it the 440 Super Commando. All the same engine except the name.

  • @mikesteelheart it in my car now we had to mod the mounts and yes they did come stock with 2 quad barrel carbs on them and the t.n.t was made diffrently then rest of the blocks

  • @in1fuckenworld

dual quads were never offered on a 440 - they were offered on the 350, 361 & 383 in their original "RB"

form then, on the new "B" the 383 had 2X4s prior to 1962, The only modern "RB"s (1959& up) with 2X4s are the 413 Max Wedge, the 426 Max Wedge & the 426 Street Hemi . Also, as Mike said - it was just a label/name Magnum=Dodge Commando (Super or Golden)=Plymouth TNT... they were not built different I've been building them for the past 30yrs, 440-6 was available thats it!

  • @digusek ok ill let you rant on about this shizz but i know what i got and i have the build sheet from the car i took it out of and it says 440 T.N.T dual quad carb now maybe the person who ordered this car wanted it with the dual quad carb idk but thats what it says it came with so i take it as its stock

  • @in1fuckenworld It may have been a dealer add on, but it didn't get built at the factory that way. The VIN number, tells all....

  • Ugh, I would sell my first born child for that camaro.

  • muscle cars kick asshole

  • @NitroDragster426 " you have no idea how much of a douchebag right now "BRO" lol" you dont even make sence u didnt go to school rite or did u forget to put the "you are" between douchebag and rite now?? Im guesing its problably both

  • Only 26 seconds ?

    No rev-up preamble ?

I can't wait for the sequel.

  • @in1fuckenworld Pretty interesting what you're talking about. I thought in the past that "T.N.T." was just Chryslers name for Magnum (Dodge) or Super Commando (Plymouth). I don't really see the point of putting more powerful versions of the 440 n big and heavy C-Bodies instead of performance cars like e.g. Chargers, Challengers or 'Cudas. But some of my friends own T.N.T. cars, I have to check that out!

  • @DodgeChallenger426 my father has a road runner with a 440 T.N.T in it my 440 T.N.T block isint in my mazda mx6 yet

  • @DodgeChallenger426 yep the 440 TNT is just how Chrysler labeled the 375hp 440. The guy who claims a stock one made 475-480hp may have seen a modded 440 with dual quads make that power on a block that was a 440 TNT.

  • @mikesteelheart Thanks for the info Mike. I knew something was wrong ;-)

  • CHEVYYYYYY

  • I love chevrolet ♥ :)

  • dodge is the best...leave it at that...even tho i own a 94 z28..only because chevy is cheap ha and im still in high school

  • I agree with Hugger99 440 is the baddest street motor ever made

  • Don't feed the trolls. Nice cars.

  • The only way a hopped up chevy can beat stock mopar is if there is a mopar behind the chevy pushing it

  • Seems to be a large amount of testosterone poisoning here. And anyway, I had a 426 wedge 4-speed that smoked a 396SS...barely, but I did and it was stock! You can all love your 440s but the 426 hemi was the first, best and baddest of them all.

  • @spahjrp how can you barely smoke something????? smoking something during a race means no contest. IE you would have smoked a civic with your car. in your situation you "barely beat" the SS. what you said is like 2 steps away from saying that you smoked the guy that you lost to.

  • @timmypstyle Got him off the line, never lost the lead and was walking away at the end of a quarter mile. Had the race been shorter it would have been closer...nope, smoked him is correct and you can squirm in your tighty whities trying to come up with a retort...to which I won't respond. Have a day.

  • I tell ya youth these days these kids know its all. Whippersnappers

  • both are exellent cars

  • @JTF2SNIPER979 Actually, it's the other way around son.

  • @MrPlymouth43 bro my v6 camaro will smoke your fuckin gas guzzlin piece of shit you would run out of gas before u even meet up with me to race

  • @Ghettoboy067 you have no idea how much of a douchebag right now "BRO" lol

  • @NitroDragster426 *you are

  • Enjoy the videos instead of talking out of your asses.

  • we dont care what you, your dad, or your grandpa own.

  • ehh my 68 charger 440 will kill it

  • Wow I'm 15 an own my own mopar a 1971 Plymouth duster with a 360 I'll smoke that peice of shit camaro an my dad has a 70 challenger with a 440. Mopars are way better than Chevys. Like my grandpa said camaros are a dime a dozen!

  • @MrPlymouth43 1. You're not even legally allowed to drive yet. 2. You're dad's 70 challenger sounds like a nice car, and don't get me wrong all challenger are. It's just 2 bad you're pussy ass isn't making enough horse with that heavy piece of shit plymouth. My dad has a 67 SS i restored with him, and its got a 489, 625 horse and 650 ft-lbs of torque. AFR aluminum headers, aluminum pistons. The work's. Mind you it isn't the most powerful car out there, but it'l smoke you're PoS Plymouth. Child..
