Nick it's a great video, but there was nothing sadder than seeing a town as great as Burlington grovelling for a fiber-optic "blessing" from Google. Forget our failed attempt at independently bringing the technology to ourselves through Burlington Telecom. I guess it's no surprise that the whole community would be willing to lay down our independence and suck on the teat of Google for the rest of eternity. For being so forward thinking this whole shenanigan was one big joke.
I wish California would want to catch up. Because were I live there is only 3G, Dial-up, and satellite internet because there is no DSL or Cable in my area. I am in a Rural Area and Verizon does not want to update the area with more DSL or even FiOS.
Well, hopefully Google has enough money and power to sweeten any deal to get around what has deterred other top companies from deploying in Vermont...Act 250. Sometimes I get the feeling Vermont doesn't want to keep up with the rest of the world ; ( I'll wait for any actual results before getting my hopes up...
Vermont is in a unique position to take advantage of this program, with bipartisan support, and existing organization to work with Google, and a grant from the federal government.
We have a varied terrain and demographics that will give builders experience meeting many challenges. Mountains, fields, woods, streams, urban, rural ... it is all here. The lessons learned can be applied to other places.
Besides, how can they resist working in the most beautiful place in the country!
Awesome! We are so ready for high-speed across the state. VT has such an incredible percentage of small businesses running from local communities, that this will be critical for our future economic growth.

Good Work! I like it! But, you should have used a yellow fiber patch cord (single mode fiber) versus the orange multimode fiber... Details.....
