You do realize that the DC-10 is an extreamly heavey airplane right? On take off it is supporting over 300,000 pounds. It doesn't just jump off the runway, it is also amplified if it is a hot day. When the air is hot, aircraft performance is degraded. Less engine thrust, longer takeoff roll, reduced climb rate, and a whole host of other things. It being a heavey also contributes to the high landing speeds. It is all normal and safe. Now if cabin/customer service is lacking, that is differ
