  • My teacher showed this clip at school today, so if you get this comment up to top comments then she will see it the next time she shows this! If you are reading this, Mrs Johnstone, then I know the people have done their job. :)

  • Jamestopboy!

    Use common sense!

Anglican or any protestant Church started to exist in XVI century. Then from time Of the apostles until Henry VIII ( XVI century) there was no true Church, if protestants are right And represent true Church.

Then Christ's promise is not fulfilled, that The Church He established would not be destroyed.

  • The seasons are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too overpriced on Bluray.

  • Maria Doyle Kennedy is the most beautiful Catherine of Aragon I have ever seen !

  • This royal stallion, adulterer did so much evil. But what is so strange that the church he created (Anglican church) in order to justify his illicit union with Anne Boylen still exists in England. Most people has no logic and no common sense. Wake up! Return to the true Church!

  • @franciszek8D You're obviously Catholic

  • @ultraviolent29 that is what I thought too. obviously Catholic

  • @franciszek8D No, we ARE at the true church. Give us a message when YOU return to the true church, ok?

  • not to be picky, this is a very impractical joust. They have no grandgaurds, no vambraces, no gorget. very little covering

  • I think that Catherine of Aragon was the best queen out of the rest because she held herself like a true lady and held strong till the day she died even when Anne stole Henry from her

  • 1:10 yeah i was gonna say...helmet, man!!! throw on yer helmet o.o

  • It's almost sad to see that Henry VIII was never really known for anything except having six wives, divorcing & beheading two, one died giving birth to his long awaited son who later died as well & one who outlived him only to marry another man & die herself. Henry always wanted what he couldn't have hence the wives & he was also father to Queen Elizabeth 1 who he denied & Bloody Mary (Mary I). Henry wouldn't have been king in the first place if Arthur had not died & he was never cut out for it.

  • I think the horses are completely the wrong type for jousting. They are too flimsy.

This looks like a hollywood film inasmuch as they yank the horses about, like American reining and spinning lol. This spoils the authenticity, especially the "Haaarrr!" where's John Wayne? lol

  • @bootsandsaddles

yeah well, take it up with the Screen Horses' Guild about that one >.>

they sent who was available, they aren't all gonna be Mr. Eds and Francis the Talking Mules....there are only SO many horses who go to Hollywood seeking fame you know!! o.0

  • That part was filmed in brennanstown! i ride there!!! ^_^

  • Irish Men...

  • @Scoob505 yummmmmmmmmmm

  • Thank you! The Tudor history interests me alot, and I'm simply fascinated by it. Everytime I think I've gotten it out of my system, it sucks me back in :D

Henry was never groomed to be king; as the second son, he was always spoiled, and always got what he wanted. When Catherine first came to England, he wanted her, as she was very beautiful. When Arthur died, it was his opportunity to have what he always wanted.

  • His greed led to his downfall. And it's sad; he did great things for England, but no one really remembers that when you say "Henry VIII". All you remember is he was the man who changed the Catholic religion, who divorced two of his wives, beheaded another two, and who died longing for a son, never accepting his daughter who became one of the greatest queens England ever had.

  • @laceylarissa He was 10 when his brother died. Most children don´t want women at that age...

  • @kanaren13 Are you quite sure?

  • @Gonnakillyou That´s what I read. But I´m not an expert, so I may be wrong of course:)

  • i feel sort of sorry for both herny and catherine. i wouldn't like to be married to someone 6 years older than me, and i think catherine may be embarrased by henrys young age. even though he was wise, he was still foolish

  • I think Henry was very foolish, and most definitely not wise.

Catherine wanted to be queen, it was her destiny. She waited for Henry to get the Pope's permission after Arthur's death. She was only in England for less than a year when Arthur died; she was going to be queen one way or another.

While I agree that she may not have wanted to be married to Henry (she fell in love with Arthur after they got married), her need to be queen was greater than love.

I do think she did really love him.

  • Wow lol you really know your history! I'm pleasantly surprised!

I totally agree with everything you said!

Henry really was just a spoiled little brat who only became king by default! Actually, if Arthur hadn't died Henry would have been a priest lol!

  • I thiught this did a good job of capturing how dangerous jousting actually was. You got a sense of the adrenaline here, not just some kind of symbolic chivalry.

  • 0:14 wooww in this scene he is so sexy i cant belive it

you will never met a person like jonathan rhys meyers in the " real live "

  • One of the worst impressions jousting ever committed to film. Armour straight from a producers dream. Bears little relation to the real thing. The 1950's Ivanhoe film is better than this!

  • catherine was only 7 yrs older than henry iv read so many books..iv read one by phillipa gregory called the constant princess it says she was 7 yrs older. she was first married to his older brother. but since she swore before god her marriage to henrys older brother was never consumated they married her to henry because it was her destiny to become queen of england cuz spain and england had an alliance.

  • Captures the spirit of things nicely. It's all about showing off and impressing the chicks.

  • I think Jonathan is so damn sensually bad boy sexy. I drool when he looks at the camera. His eyes hypnotize!!

  • i kno he is fine

  • @ginginnyme

me too, i much prefer a jousting horse to a muscle car....i think it's the sensual aroma of the barn, or maybe the not showering for weeks on end....

  • I love these historical series, was this made by HBO studios like ROME, or is it purely British production? if so good job! but i agree the problem is JRM does not fit the role of Henry, at least if the portraits are accurate! Henry was fat and ginger remember

  • Pretty pathetic! Jousters would have been on the left side of the fence. That way their lances would be on the inward side. A tiny bit of research would demonstrate that in England they still pass on the left side.

  • Does anyone know where you can find a site to see entire episodes? I don't have Showtime and I really looooooooove anything to do with Tudor England.

  • I think they should have had another (younger looking) actress play Catherine of Aragon. She looks like his mama, not his wife.

  • true. when i first saw this, i thought she was supposed to be his mother or something.

  • Catherine was actually a good 15-20 years older than him. So its logical she looks older.

  • But historically Catherine was older then Henry about 15 years older I think.

  • 6 years older

  • No! They make the age diffrnce way bigge in the show, they were 6 years apart in age(the closest in age of any of the other of henrys wives, anne boleyn was 10-17 yrs younger than him)

  • I know totally!

  • I'm in this! Check out the blurry girl in red behind Jonathan! Was so much fun!

  • i would to watch the show but i don't have showtime i think that is injustice

  • does anyone know if this will b on Australian TV?

  • i frickin' hope it will be on!

  • Yes, but he was in his late 30s at the time the show purports to portray. He was built like a football player even when he was young and fit. JRM is too lithe and definitely too young to give the show any credence.

  • the point of the show was to show henry before he got old and fat!!!that he was accualy hot when he was younge!!

  • yeah, he was actually quite the looker when he was young before he got old and fat...

    ...

    Reminds me of Elvis XDXP....

  • Wait sec....Henry was a bit in love Catherine...there was sense of admiration between the two...until she grew a bit more...old. He needed a son from her or someone else...and he was fat!! Jonathan is way too good looking...still it is fun to watch the show ^.^

  • does any1 know what channel this will come on in the UK??

  • I loved this episode. JRM is so hott, even with hardly any hair. This show rocks.

  • SQUEEE!!! HENRY CAVILL!!!

  • DMAN RITE!! *squees along* lol

  • jonathan rhys meyers is a very beautiful man and i idolize him a lot. i hope tudors becomes successful
