This song's amazing in this video!! Even Jason performed it quite good!! (no offense, Boris' beat in this song is almost unreplaceable). I think they saw the Mexican flag in the crowd and they thought for themselves "c'mon boys..., let's put some punch & passion on this song, remember our 2004 Mexican full-passion fans!!!....FUAAAA!!!" ;-)

there is no best album. Depending on which style you like more of thiers, each album holds different gems. Its really rare anyone truly likes them all.
How can you say disintegration is the best album ? if it only have 5 songs?!: Pictures of you Love song Lullaby Fascination street Disintegration And the album the head on the door have 6 good songs: Inbetween days The blood Push A night like this Close to me The baby screams
My wife and I saw the Cure a week ago at the Shrine in L.A. and they still sound awesome. They still sound exactly just like their CD's...even after all these years. After seeing this song performed live, my wife has a new favorite Cure song!!!
Hey I was there too last night in San Diego. What an incredible performance! I went along with my husband because he loves this band. Now I'm a new fan. I can't remember a better concert. I think this song was my husband's favorite because of the "nice long lead-in instrumental". After this song he said, "OK... I'm happy!"
This was a great song live last night in DC. It probably had the biggest response from the crowd. The whole show was amazing, though I miss the keyboards. As for the whole "goth" thing, as a longtime Cure fan, I always thought that label was ridiculous. ironically, they make some of the most upbeat songs I've ever hear, but folks like to pigenhole. Kind of sad I think.
if anything..the cure is a incredible man with a hell of a talent for sound and creativity... a voice and a mind that can write many different dark and beautiful things..even sinister at times...you cannot label him..he kept as many original band members around as humanly possible....simon has been with him the longest...from the very start...and that is awesome... the man can play a damn good bass ...a sound truly his own... Robert Smith is not a fad..he is a statement..
The Cure is NOT goth. To say that is possibly an insult for Mr. Smith. Read about how he feels about that label. Cure is NOT goth, Cure is new wave, Cure is punk, Cure is rock, Cure is pop, Cure is alternative, is indie, is dark wave, is shoegazing, is art rock, art punk, is psyhodelia... and sometimes goth and certainly NOT IN THIS SONG.
From your reply, I take it you weren't around when goth was born, in 1977, like I was, as I was (and still am) a goth myself. Goth is what is also labeled darkwave. By goth, I don't mean new generations who need an excuse to disrespect parents and system, I mean what was born from punk, and had a great taste for dark poetry and the supernatural. I do believe The Cure fit the label, although it is a little tight on them, as they are this and a mixture of other things too, at the same time.
psyhodelia? Don't you mean Psychedelic?.. as in, Zeppelin sometimes was? Well honey, I got news for you. The Cure is definitely goth. actually, The Cure is THE Gothic rock band. The Cure is definitely new wave, but.. I was born in the early eighties, I grew up listening to music like this, and trust me, The Cure is definitely Goth.
Saw them live for the 8th time last month, and they still.. kick ass.
I don't like any kind of controverse focused on me, that's why I didn't answered vampiroangelico for the second time. But! now the two of you are going on the same way, I got to tell you: it's a shame for people who has live that time to think that way. It's a shame for you and it's a shame for Mr. Smith itself. To fill that parameters you can talk about JOY DIVISION and it's importance not only inside goth music, but in much other subgeneres of rock. That would be VERY apropiate.
You can think about The Cure as a dark (a very dark one) band in albums like Pornography. That would be accurate. But callig Cure a goth band, that would be talking about only one part of it's music, a very few one. That would be labeling a band which means a lot more than just a "goth" band. That would be not knowing about subgeneres inside rock. And I quote Mr. Smith itself: "It is pitiful when goth is still tagged onto the name The Cure. (...) We're not categorizable...
How can you describe a band that put out an album like Pornography and also Greatest Hits where every single song was top 10 around the world? I just play Cure music, whatever it is." (Rolling Stone)
its right..im agree with it..the cure is also post punk..post progressive..cure never reggae or ska..but sometime they played it.Cure is out of ghetto.Cure is dreaming back.
The Cure is great, no doubt! If you want to hear one of the best Cure covers, visit Failures Art on Myspace. It's the last track on their playlist - it's called Same Deep Water. It is excellent. Failures Art's original songs, of course, are excellent too.
