  • It sounds like your voice is too rough with cigarettes lol. But, nonetheless, great job.

  • yes - i agree with these, you are a good song stylist! my background is in local musical theatre and an aspiring composer-by-ear who collects a wide variety of musics. a great solo version of a favorite who song - i had a lot of fun singing along to fill in all those clean harmonies of the classic townsend arrangement. peace!

  • wow awesome job you gained a new here

  • WELL DONE SHIPMATE!

  • I wish I could sing like that.

  • fantastic

  • nice cover of this song. Its one of my favorite who songs ! thx !

  • great job dude :)

  • Can anyone tell me the chords he uses

  • Very nice, btw what kind of guitar is that?

  • Looks like a Fender acoustic. Thats my guess!

  • Good work mate.

  • wrong chord at 1:59

  • play it better!

    Eddie ROCKS!

  • Good god!

I have put my bass down for along time. But since i always thought the Ox was gods gift to bass players. I know I will be jamming to your channel for awhile to come. No reason to keep it in the case anymore. The callus is back on my finger tips trying to keep up with that opening riff. Great work and thank you.

  • you have a good strum pattern, your voice is very raspy though...

    and at 2:00 you play a C...its a Bb.

But it was good, i like the mannerisms in the song, a lot of energy! i loved that man. good job!

  • you kind of look like paul blart ...

    10 out of 10!

  • Your voice is really unique and very good to sing rock (n' roll) with. This is one of the best covers I've ever heard here on youtube. You don't sing perfectly but you sing with soul and that's real special. I'm a fan!

  • Thank you monolithicbaby !!!

  • @Eddie629 i like it. i'm trying to get my band to cover it, i'm the drummer so my part is easy. im trying to figure out all the intro instruments. ob viously a guitar and bass, do you think the "doo dee doo dee doo dee " part was done on a mini moog or some other synth? great job!

  • Hey, Wonderboy over there!

It's too bad you can't see me, but I got goosebumps all over me, amazing song, amazing guitarr play, amazing singing and aaamaazing feeling.

I often get cranky and annoyed by people who are making covers with The Who songs, bands like Limp Bizkit (Behind The Blue Eyes) and other people.

Altough, listening to you...it makes me happy! Really good, keep up the excellent job man!

Don't forget to post new song and vids!

  • I love the drive and energy in your songs Eddie. I remember this classic song and you have done it proud here!

  • Thanks Becky !!!

  • Very Good!!!!

    Great Song!

  • excelente.... saludos desde el cusco - Perú, cerca del machupiocchu, si puedes ven al bar 7 angelitos a tocar esa cancion...

  • excellent vox. fun to listen to. instant signature. wheres your originals? could be very big, you know.

  • Amazing cover Eddie629. Not one of the more popular Who songs but a classic, nonetheless. Your voice really holds every note & the guitar playing is A+

  • Awesome cover - but personally, I think this is The Who's most over-rated song. It's great to hear with 20,000 next to you. I've done that 3 times...that would be 60,000 people I think. Great audience participation song.

  • Yeah i've seen them quite a few times too...I was at Rich Stadium in Buffalo in '82....I believe there were 85,000 people there that day !! Thanks Tom !

  • I would have been 4 years old then.

  • i would have been negative 10 years old, but i love the who so its cool

  • Eddie, I have always loved this song and you do a wonderful cover. It works Eddie. It's sung with great feeling and passion. Thanks!

  • Te la rifaste bro....buena ejecucion...a muy buena velocidad...bastante fluida...Real Great...good job...!!!

  • Eddie, this is excellent. I agree with the comment below-your licks/timing are amazing-so intuitive. You craft the song on the guitar. Really enjoy your stuff. And it just doesnt get any better than Gord, Beatles and The Who my man.

  • Thanks bro !

  • Thanks bro !

  • Great Guitar work, You must have been playing since you where a kid, your sense of timming is impeccable...

The Who are old school-Songsmiths their compositions are beautifully complicated,to such, a raw sophistication...

  • OH YEAH!!! Another WHO song!!!!!!!! Love it, Great job. You really get into this one. This goes to my favs and Great Music playlist. 5 stars! YOU Better You Bet!

  • Thanks Traci ! Appreciate all yer cool comments !!

  • Eddie, you're amazing brother. The right hand rythmic fluidity is a masterful tribute to Townsend; amazing accomplishment my man, very inspirational!

  • Thanks Arch !!Pete is one of my main influences for sure !!

  • I mean it man. Your rythmin skill and precison is amazing brother. So many guitarist who are tachnical scale wizards couldn't even scratch the surface of your rythmic skills. I've been around a few years, LOL, and you're one of the most accopmplshed rythmic players I've ever seen. And a downright humble, kindred man. Keep the faith and teaching us all!

  • great band, great song, and great playing!!! keep on!

  • This gets better every time I watch, you're the best

  • Oh, man, that was really cool - you can really understand Pete Townshends playing - in your strumming - great job, not to mention, I saw exactly what chords you were playing - man, did Pete write amazing stuff.

  • Great job man, nice "rythmic" (<- I'm not sure, I'm french lol) playing and special but beautiful rock voice !

    Congratulations !

  • Great taste in music and awesome singing/guitar! Nice job man!

  • great i must learn this song

  • Great sound...I love it!!!

  • Good Job!!!!

    I love this version!!!

    KISSES MillyMoon

  • Thanks so much MILLY !!!..great to hear from a fellow WHO fan !!

  • Man you ROCK dude!

Damn I wish I could barr chord.

I found the "Face Dances" album at the Salvation Army for $0.99 before tax, and if not for this song I was going to crack it over my knee.

I was spoiled by the Whos Next album probably.

  • You're amazing, 5 Stars. (Go WHO!)

  • Thanks Canabullz !

  • intense!Dugg It.

  • I thought the vocals were great. Good job.

  • bleghhhhh the voice but the guiitar is fantstic

  • Very nice!! You look like my doctor....!!

  • STOMP that foot, Eddie! :-) As Tommy Emmanuel would say, if you don't move, you ain't got the groove! That sure looks like a well-used Fender acoustic, you can see where the varnish is worn from your arm... I looked at the back of the neck on TE's guitar and it has NO VARNISH LEFT at all! :-) Your voice is ideal for this music, great cover, man! :-) ***** from the bigdood!

  • You got the conviction, Eddie. You bet.

  • Wow, nice man nice

  • Very nice! 5 stars

  • That was awesome.. I will pass it along..

  • sweet guitar great song

  • incredible

  • Really, really good rhythm guitar.

  • Fuckin superb mate! Great guitar work! Roger himself would be impressed with that! 5 stars from me!

  • I loved this...reminds me why The Who are so great.

  • this is just awesome!

  • You did a great job on the triplet throughout the song. It sounded just like pete townshend. Love the voice too. Long Live Rock

  • you sound a little hoarse but its good

  • Ok, you've covered my absolute favorite Who song. Like a MASTER!! definitely 5 star material, you took the song and became one with it. BRAVO!!

So, how sore were your fingers after that??? :)

  • Yes 5 more stars

  • Excellent!!! Nice voice, scruffy and distinct.

    5 Stars!!!!!

  • either you have a cold or you smoke to much hahaha nice cover though

  • great job, man! your voice is very different from daltrey's, but it's got excellent features, and gives the song a different touch... loved it! congratulations!

  • Great rendition! "You better you better you bet!" 5 STARS 2 U!

  • Good job man.

  • very good performance

  • i agree with the previous post re: voice, a surprise at first (being so used to daltry), and, it seems to me, slightly shakey (neil young reference) but man, once it all gets rollin', i found myself singing along...

nice work on those tricky chord changes while maintaining rhythm as melody...especially the neo-baroque power chord breakdown going into the last verse/chorus...

are you sure you're not steve earl?

  • You are very good!I like your acoustic version, complimenti dall'Italia!

  • Pretty good at 1:22 :D

lol, the voice does surprise you when you start singing, but that is how it was done in the first place i guess.

  • nice guitar playing but, whats wrong with your voice?

  • this is my favorite who song. along with won't get fooled again

  • man u r awesome!! i didnt think it would be possible for one man and his guitar to cover this well, but u prooved me wrong!! massively!! ROCKON!!

  • You are freakin' AWESOME!!!! Holy cow. I'd pay money to see you play. Are you from the Chicago area by chance?

  • No dice my friend....Up in Canada.. Southern Ontario....a 'little' north of you I'm afraid.

  • you are super awsome, I really like the video, it is a real pleasure to watch and listen to, great guitar playin!

  • i'll take this..thanks Eddie :)

  • fan of all your good who covers

  • quality man good going

  • great bro!! :)
