the original story is really depressing :S the sea witch told ariel that to get her voice back she had to be kissed by the prince or she would be turned to sea foam.the witch turned into the maiden and used ariels voice to fool the prince into marring her.ariel went back to the witch to ask her what she should do.the witch said to kill the prince.Ariel was in love with him and couldnt do that,so she went to the ocean and by dawn she was turned to sea foam where she would swim for eternity

He truly did love another girl he met before "Ariel" They gave her one last chance to survive and live with the mermaids again by killing Eric and putting his blood on her feet. She chose to die because she loved Eric so much.

Looking at this scene again after many years, I have two problems with it.

1. Ariel should be dead with a waist that tiny.

2. Pink is definitely NOT Ariel's color. She should stick with Chartreuse (her tail color), or Lavender (her clamshell color).

OMG, she has the same mannerism as Rapunzel in this scene wich is one of my favourite scenes!!! Not to mention, those same big puppy eyes...I guess it's part of the Disney trademark. I only noticed it until now. Guess I'm a sucker for how Disney has drawn those eyes.
