@ranger12392 well honestly i havent taken this truck "mudding" in deep mud... but ive gone through small rivers and stuff with it and as longas u don't have water above ur hood i think u should be fine
@ranger12392 I have a K&N on my 96, I love it, I only have the filter though, I had to make a custom mount for the filter I don't have the K&N mount from the intake I have OEM. I was going to buy it, and I asked about it, the guy who sold it to me, said I could get away with just the filter, and I think he was right, and I save roughly 250 bucks.
The hesitation when you hit the throttle could mean the fuel pressure regulator is going out...
nice looking truck, i just wish more people would look into custom computer tunes before going out and buying those expensive handheld programmers that only do 1/2 of what a custom tune will do!
ya could be i dono. ya well i don't have that kind of time to be looking around for custom computer tunes and to increase 20+ horsepower for 300 buks isn't bad at all
nice man, i got flowmasters on mine, just like yours, i got an older Kn air in take, but i was wondering if the "camel hump" headers are good or what. My dad says their harder than hell to get ahold of ( so i figured they must be good then )
i haven't even heard of camel hump headers before, interesting. but no matter what type of headers u add generally u arent gonna get any more than 30 horses out of them
ya i love it. it added alot more power, it made the exhaust louder too, u can hear it suck in all the air which sounds awesome, its alot more throaty. the only troubles ive had was sometimes the k&n falls off because its a pretty weak setup they made for these trucks, so i had to glue it down. and plus my heat shield that came with it doesnt fit good in there so i had to leave that off which took some power away, but overall a good product
hey buddy and about the k&n. i brought my truck to this muffler shop so they could put the heat shield on and they said it should of come with a bracket to hold the heat shield up which it didnt. so they put the bracket in for 40 bucks so now the heat shield and everything is on perfect. it has way more power now that the heat shield is back on, pulling jus cold air rather than warm air from the engine which isn't dense so u lose hp
I work at a truck accessories shop, and we do programmers. As far as I've heard, the best for 88-98 350s is the Superchip, the hypertech is ok though. The superchip is discontinued for this year truck though, a guy I work with just bought the last one in the continental US for his 95 silverado. I have a 97 C1500 with DI/DO Magnaflows, shorty headers, and a carbureted 350 (long story). It has a deeper tone at idle and low rpm's, but when you get on it, it roars =D
get rid of that hypercrap and get a custom tune, think that hypercrap works? wait until you put a custom tune in that thing. My 5.3 is a whole new truck now
well i don't know how much the custom tune costs but im not made out of money and im sure that it is a little pricey. but if i do want a custom tune where do i go to get one and for how much? but by the way the hypertech does work, i can now get up to 130 mph in da truck, stiffer shifts, and extra horsepower so im not complaining about the product at all, its better than nothing
its possible the chip wore out my tranny cuz the chip makes stiffer shifting points so that puts alot of torque on the tranny but im not sure, im no expert hah
Yeah man who ever does not have respect for an old(er) school chevy is just a bitch.
Your truck will smoke well... IDK where you live but probably 3/4 of the cars where you live probably an 1/8 where I live! Everyone has GTR's and SL65's and stage 3 M3's and shit. RIDICULOUS shit. Check out my tacoma though it's not too bad for a jap crap tin can "truck" :)
damn not bad for a tacoma i give dat mad propz bra. im from kauai but im livin in washington so there is tons of trucks an stuff. i've raced alot of trucks on the highway and i haven't lossed much hah.
Thanks bro I appreciate that! It gets its fair share of compliments. And my last parking ticket they put the year as "09"... Made me feel good. And after I read your username I felt dumb for asking where you were from... Kauai duhhhh
its possible that it would, im not sure how good the transmissions are on the 2000 chevys, im assuming they are better then the 97's but i do have some transmission problems that i think might be because of the hypertech since it gives you stiffer shifts and stuff like that, so it is possible
Hey nice truck man, I have a 1998 z71 lifted 3 inches and i was wandering how do you like the hypertech programmer. Did it give you much more power? Is it the Max Energy Programmer
o man the hypertech programmer makes a big difference, i was surprised because i thought how could just a chip provide so much power, but it added close to 30 extra horses, and better torque. the shifts are alot quicker and stiffer to provide faster acceleration. its definately worth the money. no what i have is the hypertech power programmer III, and i don't think the max energy will give u that much more power than this one does. i definately recommend hypertech tho
Thanx man, that helps a lot. I know they work well on diesels, but i didnt know how good they were on gassers. I am just looking for something to put some of the speed back into it that the lift took away. Does the Power Programmer III have power levels, like tow, race, and extreme?
ya and actualy with the hypertech powerprogrammer it says that the top speed i can reach is 128 mph, im sure your truck will say the same since u have the same engine and all but ya i think its cool how the speedometer only reads to 100 and it can go about 130 hah. ya and i don't believe it has power levels, it is all about firmer shifting that you can pick wen u want it to shift at different points, top speed, and better gas economy. but i really highly reccommend it man. chek out myothervids
thats the thing to is that without the heat shield i do notice there isn't quite as much power as when i had the heat shield on. but im tired of messing with it so im just going to leave it alone alredy hah
Hey. Nice truck. looks like mine :) My heat shield for My KN filter is off now. It was on for a few months. but the filter kept falling off.. because of that heat shield. so mine is off now too :) i hate it whwn my air filter falls off.. LOL
o ok so u had the same problem as me. because in order to put the intake through the heat shield it had to be angled down right? so when it does angle down it is hella easy to fall off. i emailed the k&n guys and they said it should fit, i told them it fit but it kept on falling off, so now i really don't know what to do hah. i wish i knew if there was another way to do it
Yes. it had to be angleda little. and worked fine for a while.. but eventually it would fall off. i have no problems now.. i dont see why you should run into any problems with it on. other than the engine getting a litte hotter air..
You must have some awesome traction with those tires, even if they're turning bald. My Goodyears are fairly decent on gravel and light snow but on ice and deeper snow I have to switch to 4X4.
haha well a fair amount of traction, a relative amount, depends on what im doing hah. because from a dead stop there is no way i can floor it because all it does is peel out and i have to let off of the pedal for the truck to move forward haha. but ya on snow it handles it like a champ and of course if i need it i just put it into 4 wheel drive hah. did u check out my other video of my exhaust, it sounds alot better in this one. go to my page
Holy crap, your Z71 looks almost exactly like mine! Mine's black, extended-cab shortbox with the third door, front bucket seats, leather interior and electronic 4X4 on a grey interior. Your cold air intake is absolutely massive! I can imagine the sucking noise it must make when you open that throttle up! Your exhaust sounds mean, almost like a muscle car with a lopey idle. Not as deep or as loud as a Magnaflow but menacing to a Ford or a Dodge owner. Looks great with duals too!
haha black is the best color for a truck i believe. mines doesn't have the leather interior tho just the regular stuff hah. ya see if you go to ur local auto parts dealer you just tell them u want a k&n cold air intake and you tell them the model and they will get it to you, you will have the same exact one as me. ya man it gets real throaty. ya it was a bad video, i will make another one soon to show you what it really sounds like cuz it sounds better than that hah
I must also mention, your tires are massive and those are some wicked off-roading wheels! My wheels are the factory 16 inch wheels, and I have Goodyear Wranglers sized LT265/75R16. The tires are new but I'm tempted to wear 'em out so I can throw on some meatier BF Goodrich All Terrains. What tire are you running? You go off-roading from time to time? I don't do anything serious but I do hit gravel roads and the occasional slushy stuff.
haha believe it or not they are on 16 inch wheels too. they are Pro Comp Mud Terrains, ya they are kind of worn out now but you should see them when you first buy them they are beautiful, huge knobby tires. i forget what the exact size are i will have to go look and i will let u know. from time to time i go off roading. this truck was brought up from hawaii so we used it for the beach and when we would go hunting. now i use it more to jus drive to and from school
thanks bra, ya it was pretty easy for the most part, just had to unscrew some things and put the small assembly together but it only took about an hour, some people it takes only less than 30 minutes but im not that good hah. but the biggest problem i had was putting the heat shield on(its off now) because it doesnt want to fit under the hood. i emailed the k&n guys and they said it should fit so im going to try and put it on again. that gives some extra power too since cold air is entering
ya if i can figure it out im sure you can haha, i will admit that i dont know nearly as much as i should about the engine parts and stuff in general but im slowly learning hah. ya if u take it into a shop they would probably charge u $60+ so definately do it your self hah

im thinking about putting a set of Hedman Street Hedders (painted)
on my 97 sierra and i was wondering how you liked yours any difference in power and sound? and have any problems with them chiping and rusting?
Dansz71sierra 8 months ago
Few questions I'd really appreciate if you answered:
What size tires are on your truck?
What lift (if any) is on your truck?
Where did you find headers for the truck that weren't 500+ dollars??
braaup 9 months ago
when you go muddin does fuck you intake system because i want a K&N for my 01 Sierra but i don't want to suck mud and a lot water into my intake
