He was getting the draft off his car and he was probably going to go low after entering the turn, but Gilliland checked up before entering the turn and didn't give a hand signal or anything letting him know to go low beforehand.

you dont catch that much draft at that track. and david did not check up you look at every other on board when a drive is on old tires those guys are 200 at the end of the straightaway david just got out of the throttle like he was supposed to. tony had new tires he can run it in harder. david left plenty of room for tony to go by and when ur catchin someone that fast you should know not to run up on em and follow em in.

First of all, I think this was a combo fault. Guilliland did look like he checked up, but Stewart should, with his huge amount of experience, know how to get away from that without tapping.

Second, how many crashes did Stewart get into before he won a race? Guilliland was a rookie and rookies are inherently dangerous on the track, because they're not 100% used to the cars yet.

There is no such thing as a perfect race driver.

Here's what happened. David Gilliland was turned by Jamie McMurray in talladega earlier in the year. David hit Tony while spinning. Tony thought he did it on purpose, so he tried to deliver some payback here, and when it didn't work, he made a stupid comment.
