fucking awesome..i remember watching the re-runs of this on tv as a kid back in the late 70's and early 80"s and i' loved it then and still love it now !!..i guess maybe it's because i became a professional musician !1

@greenskiis You're not the only one, i've been wondering about this particular fact ever since i first saw it. And they are not always separated - in some instances you can see this strange, thin hose-like structure that runs through the center of the stone plates.
@maynardsmoreland OMG! I was thinking the same thing! I grew up on the Flintstones cartoon in the late 60s/early 70s and later on in the 80s, during my teenage years, when I learned of Devo, I couldn't help but think that they were inspired somehow by the Way Outs. Glad I am not the only one. :)
