  • I've tried Aveda "Be Curly"...I like it so far. Never tried Mixed Chics products before.

  • for me when i use mix chicks it doesnt dry crunchy unless i use to much

  • I know this video is a few years old and you may have tried this already, but I am a big fan of mixing Be Curly with a bit of gel (Confixor or Brilliant Retxturing gel) to get a little more definition and hold for the curls on my clients. Especially if you twist the curls while they're wet. The Brilliant gel is going to add some great additional shine as well. Love your video! :-)

  • vvvvv PERSON UNDER ME iS REtARtED . AHA DUMB BitCH . tHEy ARE CURlS . . . GEt yOUR SHit StRAiGHt !

  • those are WAVES not CURLS

  • One product I found to work with my hair very well is "Silk Elements: Glossing Polish" From my personal experience I consider this product one of the best out there for curly hair textures. After showering I place this in my hair and it leaves my hair all day very soft to the touch- all while defining the curls! I've gotten a habit of pulling at my curls because I love the feel of them. I can't get enough of it!

  • aveda just rules all.

  • black girl hair?

  • SexyConcuvrvas, I'm an Aveda student and Aveda is owned by Estee Lauder. Horst sold Aveda to them in 1996 with the understanding that Aveda would stand under it's own name, not the Estee Lauder banner.

Estee Lauder also owns Suave, Macc Make-up, among many, many other labels that function without the Estee Lauder label.

  • Lauder also owns Clinique as well

  • I love ur hair!! I wanna try this product due t my hair always being dry and nothing defines my curls other than conditioner. Your hair rocks.

  • I think I'm gonna try mixed chicks, I'm all naturale and my curls are just like yours but I was tired of using Gel and mouse so I tried creams and leave in's and like you said once it dries my curls are not as defined and it looks like a poof.

  • your hair is gorgousssssssss love your curl pattern <3

  • I think all hair textures are beautiful when you know how to care for it correctly.

  • maybe it dried crunchy bc u used a lil too much product.... :)

  • You'll get better results from Be Curly if you cocktail it with a liquid gel by Aveda, like Confixor. Or, if you use Phomollient along with Be Curly. Both of these will give you a better hold without any crunchiness.

  • Aveda Stinks and they are owned by Estee lauder!

  • Why does Aveda stink? And what's wrong with Estee Lauder?

  • You must like all the synthetics on your hair!!!! Aveda is great!!! I dont understand your comment on aveda beig owned by estee lauder! Whats your point????

  • No Aveda is owned by Horst Rechelbacher.... no where near estee lauder, plus este lauder uses sythetics.. aveda is %100 percent natural all the way up to the recycled container :)

  • that hair is gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the product review. I have curly hair, somewhat similar to yours in texture. I saw the product promo video, but I like to have other options on products, too. I like the way your hair turned out, and am anxious to find out how the test went for the rest of the week.

  • My daughter and I are going INSANE trying to find a product that will help her hair. She also has real thick hair...she is 11, and has amazing hair, but it tangles quick...can you help on that as well!? Thanks!

  • hey all! thanks so much for the love and comments and questions. I'm hoping to do another blog soon, as ive moved on to another hair product combination I want to share! @geminipeach22 - I have to use alot! my hair is super thick. the crunchiness is ok it solidifies the curls. @ChakaAntoine i think you can email them for a sample!

  • I worked at a salon who used Aveda products and the line is a bit backwards... Smooth Infusion is the line that (in my opinion as well as others from the salon & company reps) works better on 'coarse, curly, dry' hair. I loved it and as I told them, my hair only really does well if it has a "moisture barrier" while it's drying, which is what those products did. I felt that Be Curly dried my hair out further, so I swapped to Smooth Infusions and have never looked back.

  • I have a question. Im mixed, but my hair is more coarse, no curls at all. Will mixed chicks make my hair go curly?? or...what will it do to my hair? I live in Canada and just for the 1 bottle of leave-in conditioner it costs almost $40, so I want to know what it will do before i buy it.

  • I'm pretty sure the reason your hair dried crunchy is because you used 3 big squirts - when you said that I was thinking holy crap that's a lot! I don't know that I have more hair that you but it's quite a bit longer and I only use 1 1/2 to 2, never going over that because yes it does get crunchy. I find that having well saturated hair allows less product to distribute more evenly which is the key for me.

  • use grese its just as good as gell except it doesnt make your hair hard

  • grease will just weigh her hair down and she'll lose all her fluffy curls

  • Love your hair! Thanks for the video :-)

  • mixed chicks works for many air types, but no one product can work for every hair type. i am sure, as mixed chicks grows, there will be other products made for a wider range of hair textures. if your hair starts to dry, it is probably because of too much shampooing...probably. try some oil drops, or mixed chicks deep conditioner. it hydrates really well.

  • have you tried carols daughter hair milk?

  • May be you used too much. No one hair product is perfect. Carol's Daughter Hair Milk is too greasy for me.

  • mixed chicks does work. however my hair is not as long as yours & it looks like a jerri curl, at first. now, its looks tight curls

  • I tried this a long time ago, and it did not work for me. Maybe it is really just for mixed girls

  • Just ordered it online! Have to see if this really works. I am Persian and I got inconsistent curls (some nice ringlets, others limp straight hair). Been using the shampoo/conditioner combo from Frederick Fekkai, but it seems to create flyaways.

  • I like this vid. Very up-close and personal. Thank you for posting this!

  • OMG, when it went crunchy that is only temporary? I rewashed my hair. OMG U HAVE MY HAIR!!!!!!!

  • To avoid the crunchiness/dryness I put diluted Keracare Essential Oils with olive oil on my hair first and then put in the leave in conditioner!

Just try everything, until you find what works best for you!!!

  • I tried a sample of Mixed Chicks, I dont like that crunchiness either. If it doesnt dry soft and stay soft, Im not with it. For once, I want a natural line that delievers. (CD and miss jessies aren't worthe the money)

  • If you put Qhemet honeybush soft tea hold gel on 1st and then smooth on Mixed Chicks. Its moisturized and define. Also the creators said to leave a little deep conditioner on the hair for more softness.

  • i love the natural big fro i have curly hair like that too. i like the way it feels with the natural look.

  • Pretty

    x

  • I will love to try it...where do you buy it from?

  • luv ur hair mixed chicks really work well i use it all the time

  • great hair girl.

  • i love your hair!

  • Mixed Chicks is a great product, and it is a mindset...go with what your maker gave you, work with it.

  • Thanks for doing this video. I'm thinking about trying out Mixed Chicks myself.

  • me too

  • tressemme curl care line is great too & way less expensive than other products. but i'm feelin the curly hair love right now!

  • I use Tresseme Flawless Curls and I love it. I have tried Mixed chicks and it doesn't have enough moisture for me. Not worth the $52 you will pay for all three parts of the system.

  • shes right b/c now im using the aveda "dry remedy" line & right after i put the leave-in conditioner spray bottle on there as it was drying it felt crunchy as well but like a day later even tho it was still a little damp i combed it & brushed it & felt as she sed "touchable...now all i need is a touch up lol

  • I like your hair. I like the blond and red highlights and the tightness of the spiral

  • isn't mixedchick similar as putting on serum first then curling mouse on damp hair, but much much cheaper?

  • did anyone ever notice how the clown wigs look like an afro?

  • did u seriously say tht?!?! how rude and ignorant! both of ur comments r stupid things to say!

  • actually u have a point there. I always wondered why it was done so, and realize they were making fun of the jew-fro which i think is ridiculous!

Anywho. i want to try mixed chicks too. You have beautiful hair!

  • Does it matter?

  • OMG! why the hell does that even matter. what you just said makes no sense at all , "looks more lightskin black then mixed"? "mixed people with black blood" ARE BLACK..most BLACK people in North and Latin America are multiracial. At the end of the day, its all BLACK.

  • not true.

  • um yeah it is! so now what do we do?

  • Um no it's not!

go to sleep, go back to college

    bye

  • Thanks for the suggestions, but now i suggest you take the blindfold off your eyes, and read a book on Africa Diaspora. Just because you "Hear no evil, See no evil, Say no evil" doesnt mean, there isnt evil. And for one to choose to be ignorant or ignore the TRUTH is pretty sad. Hopefully you dont continue down that path of ignorance.

    bye

  • ignorant? So everybody that doesn't agree with you is ignorant?

    Spoiler: now that's ignorant!

  • mixed people come in all shapes and sizes.

  • I just started with the Mixed Chicks trio of shampoo, conditioner and deep condi and it's made a huge improvement. I've been shocked at how well it works even in the hard mountain water up where I live.

  • try profectiv. it makes your hair look, and feel wonderful. it is so good for your hair also.

i'm not sure if it defines curls. but i have natural hair, and profectiv transforms my hair into someone elses.

  • oh have you tried Kinky-Curly curling custard? its works great on my 3c/4a hair, it works on all my textures

  • But,maybe a strange question for all you artificial products-people,Is this shit good for your hair?Guess not eh?

We have all been done in by the companies that sell 'beauty-products' its so bad now that most people put smelly gluey sticky comey produsts in their hair and think they look better, well, maybe at first, but after a few years of throwing hairglue or softener in your hair, you will begin getting these problems, that the hairglue/sofetener-people have YET ANOTHER sellable product for!

  • Have you ever tried "Curls"? their products are great again, it keeps my 'fro full bouncy and lively. And my curls are tighter than yours.

  • I tried Curls once for a few months..the 1st time I put it in my hair I had the mmost fabulous hair ever! after I washed my hair and used it again my hair didn't look like the first tiem I used it...my hair shrinked while at the first tiem it was liek I gained length every strand of hair was streched out my hair was on my shoulders..the 2nd time it was obove my shoulders..any idea what went wrong? later on it was liek Curls products were drying my hair out!

  • Hi maybe it caused shrinkage. You should check out blendedbeauty vids.Their products are great and natural.I prefer blendedbeauty products than curl biz products.

  • I stopped using the Curls product mid June of last year than I started using Blended Beuty products till now.

But They also cause shrinkage, my hair looks a bit longer when I just put the product in but in a few hours or the end my hair has shrinked...

It didn't even stretch my hair like Curls did teh first time...so now idk I'm not really happy with Blended but it didn't dry my hair out but I also don't notice any growth while I've been using it for a while now....any ideas?

  • I heard that some ple notice shrinkage with BB and I think b/c it's very moisterizing.

  • It's been a while since I bought BB and I can't remember if I had shrinkage b/c of it ,but their lotions should cause less shrinkage then the butters.

  • Wow 12 months no growth that can be caused from chemicals if your not natural, using flat irons all the time, health, bad ingrediants found in commercial hair products like shampoo if you still use them, bad split ends that can cause hair breakage,comb/brush dry hair...

  • I'm using the lotions with the spray.

well I am not relaxed my mother tried to relax my hair like 2 when I was younger ut it neevr worked cause it always ended up burning my scalp after 5 mins...

So I still have my curls..but isn't my hair still damaged? I only use products from BB.

But haven't cut m yends in years though..I'm afraid of theh airdresser cause most downhere only know stuff about straight European hair..

  • Sorry, but even though a relaxer stays on the hair for a few minutes it is still consider relaxed.

  • :O Omg! didn't know that! it's not even straight. Howeer I sometimes do notice some weird straight end at my hair at some parts...but I'm not able to go cut all of my hair off...also I noticed that my hair in the back at my nape is a bit thicker and curlier..this is normal right? O and their is where I get the most shrinkage.

  • My nape area is like that too and it happens to many curly head ple also.Don't worry.I heard it from hair sites.I would have to put more product in that area.Even when I was relaxed/natural my nape area was like that too.

  • mmm strange I though applying more procuct leads to more shrinkage, think that's what the BB product is doing there.

But I'll apply more product there tomorrow to see if it makes a difference ;)

  • It sounds like it been yrs since you relaxed your hair but your hair still has relaxed ends that needs to be cut off.

  • Natural/relaxed hair together can cause breakage.

  • It's the relaxed hair that makes the hair damage.Aveda salons and curly hair salons(google the one near you) deals with all kinds of curly hair but I haven't gone there b/c i'm afraid they might cut off too much.

  • I'm buying my own shears to trim my own hair while it's dry.Sally beauty or ebay has shears that you can buy.Convex shears are the best kind.

  • The shrinkage most people talk about is due to their natural texture. I remember the first time I used BB and saw the difference from the natural hair and the ends that were still relaxed. Obviously the relaxed hair was a lot looser with the curls, compared to the natural areas.

I've seen more growth in my hair in the past two years, than I did in the six previous. I attribute the growth stopping the relaxing, and the texture definition I attribute to the products I use.

  • LOL, I'm a full blooded sista and I LUV be curly by aveda! It brings out the various curls and coil patterns in my hair.

  • Have you tryed the Be Curly Finishing product? The use for it is to have extra definition after the hair is dry. The product was released as part of the Be Curly line to finish the look off. Try it out because it is perfect for keeping in your purse on extra frizzy days

  • Hi is it best to comb in the be curly with your fingers or scrunch it in.

  • nice video :) and i luv the hair

  • how long has your hair been in an afro?

  • i just used mixed chicks a few days ago..and i LOVE it! i have notice that it defines the curls even though i am growing out my relaxer out,,i have also notice it drys crunchy.. anyway i think it is worth the price=)

  • sounds a lot like bedqw21head control freak serum 3. does the exact same thing.

  • bedhead..

  • i've never heard of a product called "mixed chicks" where are you all finding this? i am really happy to see other mixed girls rocking the curls. i just cut all of my hair that was relaxed and have been growing my natural hair and it's beautiful and i feel so free. it's even growing which it NEVER did with a relaxer. i use garnier curt and shine and that really defines my curls. i also love, love, love, Pink Lotion.

  • you can get it over the internet.

  • Congrats on BC =).Beware of mineral oil and other stuff in products.I'm not sure what pink lotion has.

  • why isn't the video working!! D:

  • I use to have naturally curly hair and now it's relaxed for two years my curls have gone,

when its wet it has a nice curl but when it dries it goes mad, any advice?

  • same here donno whatt o do...i ahve my ahir straight everyday for the past 3 eyars now...but its startig ot get like spilt end mad...soo i'm tryign ot find a curly solution but...i'm peeky on curly crap..like i liek them down since i have a small face. i wonder if anyone can help me out?

  • im so happy im seeing info from a girl with the same hair as me. alot of the time the girls with curly hair never have the same texture as me, so im weary of what they have to say.. mixed chicks leave in conditioner made my curls a little bit more defined. however the deep conditioner made my hair feel and look amazing, do you think it would be a bad idea to leave the deep conditioner in my hair...just a little bit.

    rachel

  • Blended Beauty works for me.:))

  • what i would suggest is a great moisturizing shampoo and conditioner.. this way your hair isnt soaking up the products your using giving u a longer lasting style... ooh and i would love to see some chocolate colored low lights framing your face :)

  • i use mix chics and it works wonderfully for my hair in all weather

  • Gosh, I sooo love your hair. If I could have any hair of choice yours would be mine. It is soooo cute!

  • be curly rocks my world

  • black women be proud of yourselves wear your hair natural. You will be more respected.

  • Respect yourself first before you go around looking for respect from others. Love thy self! Go natural because it's best for US not White America!

  • Your hair is gorgeous period. My mom has natural hair so I will be telling her about your review of those products and probably just show her this vid. Thanks mami.

  • i'm not what you would called mixed but i got some native american and some asain in my family but i wanna try this product since i'm growing out a perm and want my hair to be curly all the time thanks

  • Wow, you perform quite well before a camera. I don't think I've ever managed to form a coherent phrase before one myself. Also, your hair is awesome.

  • I just used a "Mixed Chicks" sample last night and loved it. I'm hooked. I've been searching for something like it forever. I'm even inspired to do a video..lol. I never thought about it before. Can we see pictures with the Aveda too?

  • What hair company is mixed chicks by and where did you ladies buy it? Is the other one spelled B curly? Who is that by? Lisa feel free to reply too. :P

  • you can find mixed chick ONLINE - and Aveda Be Curly is at any store that sells Aveda - only salons or Aveda stores. Good luck!

  • Thankies!

  • Use the whole system and very little product. The new control cream will be great for defintion from day one!

  • Thanks for the advice, I am mixed too, and attempting to find something that will allow me to wear my hair curly all of the time, without just looking like I have a puffy fro! You have beautiful hair!

  • your hair is beautiful!!! taugh me something new about getting good curls. thanks!

  • ...

  • cool, you don't straighten your hair AND you're cute. will you marry me? ;-)

  • I know you said that you arent a fan of gels but you'll love Softee. Your curls will be defined and soft without that greasy feeling.

  • really? cuz i hate how it feels on my curly hair

  • which one do you hate?

  • You look like my niece.

  • Hello, nice video. I did not know that San Francisco was foggy. Does that mean humid? I have been wanting to move there for over a year now. I have never heard of this product. When I let my hair air dry without combing it, it drys with a full crimp look.

  • cool

    nice video, youre a cutie

I may try some of those products
