  • Good video and some great memories. Was on the SSN695 from 91-95 and this boat was tied near us so I had some good friends on the boat and some great memories of WestPac. Thanks for posting it.

  • Just out of curiosity why does the 688i and subsequent boats have their dive planes below the waterline, while most previous SSN classes had them on the sail?

  • @madmedic92 just better control. Faster reaction time with planes at the ends of the ship. Many boats had their own unique design also. A way to keep trying out new thing to see what works the best. The Honolulu had and extra set of stern planes with the idea of preventing a jam dive or jam rise scenario. Our screws are housed now as a result of such test. Always ready and forever changing

  • WHO KNOWS? Periscope depth?? How many meters / feet? Class submarines for Los Angeles and Ohio or Virginia?

  • im sitting here watching this video and it makes me even more fired up about getting on my first sub. i haven't reported to recruit training yet but my preliminary orders state that my job will be on a submarine and the closer to reality that comes the more excited im getting. Wolfgang718, you know that all that you have done and seen in your staying in the Navy are priceless. These things will stay with you for the rest of your life. I wish I would have done those things in my life.
