Good video and some great memories. Was on the SSN695 from 91-95 and this boat was tied near us so I had some good friends on the boat and some great memories of WestPac. Thanks for posting it.
Just out of curiosity why does the 688i and subsequent boats have their dive planes below the waterline, while most previous SSN classes had them on the sail?
@madmedic92 just better control. Faster reaction time with planes at the ends of the ship. Many boats had their own unique design also. A way to keep trying out new thing to see what works the best. The Honolulu had and extra set of stern planes with the idea of preventing a jam dive or jam rise scenario. Our screws are housed now as a result of such test. Always ready and forever changing
I can't believe how well behaved the crew was for your pictures. My old Sturgeon boat photos can't be posted even on youtube. SSN-639 gone but never forgotten.
im sitting here watching this video and it makes me even more fired up about getting on my first sub. i haven't reported to recruit training yet but my preliminary orders state that my job will be on a submarine and the closer to reality that comes the more excited im getting. GO NAVY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a naturalized American citizen and I have been in this country for 32 years, and I know where some of my taxes go since I also pay taxes like everyone else. Wofgang718, did you put another video with a pitbull dog and kittens? Take care, true defender of the United States of America.
Wolfgang718, thank you for this video. WAO. Amazing perfect pictures and well taken. Wao, those photos with the polar bears, that sunset, and the rest of the pictures are just fantastic. Wolfgang718, you know that all that you have done and seen in your staying in the Navy are priceless. These things will stay with you for the rest of your life. I wish I would have done those things in my life.
Haha, me too. I was a nuke back aft and missed the last depolyment becuase of a family death. Didn't get to be snob becuase of it, but spent a lot of time onshore.
Biscuits!? I didn't even know you knew how to use a computer. :p I should of figured since there was a whole lot of you and the rest of A-gang in the photos. This is Wyeth by the way. Are you still in the Navy or did you reenlist again?
