Same for all the netbooks! I suppose they expect you to have a usb external DVD unit, but I think they should provide a USB stick with the stuff on it to save new users a lot of hassle!
Thanks for the comment. I wanted to ask do you find your eyes stain when working on a 12" screen when working on Excel and other office-type programs? I'm really keen on buying a netbook (after my laptop died!) and this is the only thing that concerns me. - Thank you -
Personally I find the screen fine to work with with Word, Excel, Outlook etc, though if you are going to use any spreadsheets that are doing a lot of complex formula etc I'd reckon you may find things are slow, but thats just a guess as I don't use Excel all that much and the stuff I do use it for is pretty basic! If this is a possible concern to you, and you had some sort of sheet to use as a test, send it through and I could test it out for you.
Thanks for the quick response fella. Do mind me asking how much you paid for yours? I've seen new machines on ebay which are selling for over £400 - Would you says that's good or bad? Thanks again.
So the only bloatware is MacAfee? Excellent. I do hate it when a new computer comes with lots of crap pre-installed.
I ordered my own NC20 earlier today, and Amazon has suggested it'll be here tomorrow. Fingers crossed, touch wood etc.
I also um'ed and ar'ed as to which model to buy. I was convinced the NC10 was the kiddy but then of course you hear about the NC20 and can't help but fork over the extra £60.
do you think you could put a video and show us what games are playable on this netbook? Basically, the only game Im requiring it to be able to play is counter-strike 1.6, if it plays it, I should be getting it soon.
Slim142, I do not have any games at all to test as I'm not a gamer. If its a 3D type game I would nor expect to get any decent frame rate out of it nor ultra fast speed as the unit is not designed for that sort of thing.
Yeah, Counter-Strike 1.6 is a 3D game. One of the most popular first person shooter games. It was released ~2002 and it is playable on almost any Pentium III and higher. Since the NC20 has a nice resolution and the powerful VIA CPU+IGP, Im thinking that it should be able to play the game with no problems.
The reason Im asking this is because Im planning to get one for college, but since its a bit expensive than most other netbooks, I want it to be at least able to play one of my favorite games.
It takes around 1 minute for the unit to load up into windows. Another 30 seconds to load up all the apps I have on it, and it's straight onto the Internet!
I still think the Samsung NC20 is a great little unit. Word 2007, Outlook 2007, web browsing etc, are all perfectly fine on this, but I can run off specifics if you would like to see things in action. I'll try and improve on the "Gibbering" if that's possible! LOLOLOL!!!
Ironic how they give you CD's yet the machine doesn't have a optical drive...

Is there any free download/trial of it available? I can't seem to see anything in some quick searches?
MrGordonian 2 years ago
You can only buy the game. The best place to get it is from Steam (the company that sells almost all games out in the market)
htt p:// store.steampowered. com/
P2P is also an option, but I dont want to promote it here.
Anyways, it might get a little complicated so dont worry, I'll try to find this information. I need to know this no matter what anyways hehe.

This is about the perfect size for a netbook, much more usable than others. Using wired ethernet connection, can the NC20 stream web video well?

I hope the video I have just uploaded will show you what you need to see and know!
Cannot fault it for playing movie and audio streams. If I can help with any more details please let me know.

Multi Gestures work.
The ONLY JUNK was MacAfee and I binned that and used AVG.
I only considered this model as it wa steh only one with rave reviews!

Sorry for the mass questions from me, Do you know if the NC20 supports multi touch gestures (Example 2 finger scroll?)
Did you format the Netbook and put a fresh install of Xp so you get ready of all the junk?
What other netbooks did you consider?

Nice video
Question - How long does it take on average now to boot up?
..Surely not as long as in the video now as you have configured it?
Between this or Asus S101 for me

I can up a video if required.
