  • woooah 3d rainbow all the wayyyy

  • Tip to the developer: Add a halfpipe led display instead of a quarter-pipe display, to keep the motor on balance, and to erase the noise.

  • children want to to touch

  • and i thought my XBOX was noisy!!!

  • damn people are dumb its obviously made with millions off little people inside it...

  • download ?

  • i think you mean propeller led thingamajiggy

  • you have very well acting... noob. but that thingy is awesome

  • is this autentic 3d. utilized in airports for flying controllers

  • i wouldnt watch porn on it, uld become a girl

  • I found an idea! sit in the middle, and put the leds on the spherical wall, Walla!

  • wow big deal, it spins.

  • @GoodFellows420 Remember, this video is almost 5 years old so the technique might be improved or someting more innovative than this..

But this is a start :)

  • @GoodFellows420 You're just jealous that you didn't think of it first.

  • blue beam project in the sky soon be ready!!!!? ...

  • @armandddd Yes, and star wars with a pony

  • 20 people were born in 2D

  • LOL, don't try and stick your cock into the naked chick hologram !!

  • ok sorry nerd's we don't get it what's the fun oh i know latter a nerd tryed to touch it and died funny ^^

  • 3d porno

  • at 0:02 what does it say lamp life remaining 941 hours? lamp will not operate beyond its...

  • All it needs is a few ajustments to the rotation speed so it can display a clearer picture and put a silencer on the thing its noisy

  • that is older than my mom. not new tech at all.

  • I remember technology like this in the 1970's. Bolt Baranak and Newman, or something like that.

  • Comment removed

  • Meh, POV 3D.

  • Good job!

  • THAT IS SOO BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How fast is that thing spinning?

  • @TheBraveGunner 100 centrifugs per second

  • Yeah well its a start lol, I remember 20 years ago seeing some programme about flat televisions of the future, I remember thinking no way could people ever afford something like that, now we have touchscreen phones? I mean WTF?!

Gimme a fuckin Asimo to come clean my house tho

  • Imagine, million such TVs... no sound... LOL

  • would be nice if it was quiet haha

  • i'll make the same thing in my electronic's project this year xD

  • It's just a spinny thing which times LEDs, nothing new.. sucks :<

  • i have a question.

    Porn?

  • lol i was thinking about this on the bike this morning.

i was like w8 we al know those globe things what would happen if rotate a lcd :D

  • Damn, the scale seems to be off!

  • How did you made that?

  • anyone noticed that this video was uploaded in 2006

i wonder how is it now?

  • @BulletPainPills Yeah, I wonder too.. :D must be very cool..

  • 17 people tried to touch it.

  • can this be real, an actual freaking 3D monitor, *totally wigging out at this point* IF this is real, than this ranks in the top ten things of PURE AWESOME that I've ever seen!!!!!!! And man have I seen some crazy awesome ****!!!!

  • seems pretty useless escpet maybe for pretty looking ads on the street

  • @Bioreek useless?

they're already using this technology for medicine

doctors are able to get 3D models of the effected areas of a patients body

and plan the best way to remove something like a tumor

    far from useless

but far from practical in general application

  • @TechXMarine just shut the fuck op :)

  • 3d porn ooh

  • i remember as a kid i wachted a future movie were you can face-chat with a phone the size og a small book (samsug galaxy tab) a movie where everythings 3-D (samsung 3-D tv) and a holo-gram damn technology, youre excsiting

  • This space-craft was brought in DeLorean time-machine.

  • looks like shit with the #d glasses on

  • WITCHH!! Burn.

  • @raynielbb LOOOOOOOOOOL

  • SON OF A BITCH, that's awesome.

  • This reminds me of the first mechanical TV's, now if we could replace the mechanism in this for something else then that would be something.

  • I meet the young lad in New Zealand in 1990, at the age of 16 , that invented the original concept , he called it perptual images.

  • I saw this tehnology 10 yers ago and still they didn't acomplish nothing.

  • @KEEVVY exactly... The concept is actually very simple, no? so its funny to see people so amazed by it.

  • worlds first touch holographic computer is owned by an organization called Erobotics.. and its located at econobail(.)com this is old news.. but amazing to say the least

  • @TapHax

Old news if the video was submitted now, yes.

  • it can be done. but everybody is lazy as fuck.

  • Good job, Gordon! Throwing that switch and all, I can see your MIT education really pays for itself.

  • Now touch it with your finger!

  • tooo noisy..

  • The Quantum Apocalypse of the Holographic Universe!

  • lol, a spinning 2-d high-resolution display (or is it 1 dimensional?) spinning at high speed. Why don't we see stuff like that in Hollywood? Hmm, pushing science that far huh.

  • Looks like all the technology in the movies is actually coming to us for real! :D wooo!

  • the sound would annoy me. lol

  • @pikachuthesquirtle you could make it more silent. This looks like an amateur model.

  • It's an led spinning ball!!!!!

  • @tora1001 yes, but no touch!

  • This is called a "POV display" because what you see depends on your point of view. It's the same general concept as those spinning LED rings that display scrolling text.

  • haha that fuckin noise wud piss me off all day

  • so basically commercials will look like 3d cartoon (example: Sims 3)

  • I bet it looks better in real life. Just like CRT monitors.

  • POV !

  • Quite Nice... (without "The noise", I say)

  • ok.. whelp. we have holographic images... i've lived to see the day. and i'm only 23. lol

  • @reaperofdagrim technically, it's not "holographic", it's just a 3D display... a curved pendulum is spinning around, and reflecting the image being projected onto it... as the description said...

  • It looks real, until you reach out and try to touch it.

Then you realize its not really there,

    and neither are your fingers.

  • @mtssvnsn lol

  • @mtssvnsn lol

  • This would be great while watching porn

  • @marko89med ahahahhaha i agree with you!

that would be the greatest thing invented! well since porn!

  • It will need a bit more work before it's ready for retail, but what they've got not is impressive. As soon as it gives a clearer image.. wow, I'll take three. =]

  • too loud

  • @jp03r6 Actually, this particular one is a spinning reflective surface and an array of low power lasers that it projects onto the mirror. It's not as reflective as a mirror, that would be dangerous. Actually, the military's had the same displays for the longest time to provide a better display of radar. It's very expensive and high maintenance which is why it's almost never used except in a few locations.

  • The technology is a rotating-screen volumetric display. It is an early prototype made by Actuality Systems. 6,000 images per second are projected onto a rotating diffuse screen.

  • wtf

  • excellent work!

  • can you post another video with the lights on :) I really want to see what this machine looks like.

  • @ccederlo basically: clear hemisphere dome, motor in center of dome, lcd screen/led array mounted vertically on motor. i think. ;D

  • Holy shit thats SWEET !!!!!

    and its in color

    oh the applications

    Dudes are gonna be PAID

  • what is that? how it can do it!

  • @dallatorretdu it is a group of LEDs spining at a very high speed and rapidly changing colour..

  • give them a few more year's and they really got somethihng

  • I smell the makings of Skynet in the next coming years...

    God help us all...

  • why is everyone so freaking negative with this video! these guys are heroes!

  • you have to be an idiot to think its nothing but a decoration piece.. true it isnt as advanced as some of the spinning volumetric displays, but if its something they built themselves... thats pretty damn good.. it took me 2 years to build something better than that. They could easily make something move, but it has to be 3d animation data, and that isnt a common commodity. they'd have to animate something in a 3d app specifically for the device.

  • nerd room

  • that's a decoration object ¬¬

    don't be stupid

  • now lets see a moving image.

  • its a fucking fan with a design...FAKE

  • omg... this sound is really insane ... wow

what a fail to me haha

  • Loud....

    But AWSOME

  • Imagine if all the ads in Times Square used this tech. :)

  • I can practically see the icecaps shrinking! =P

  • @whrm3 The brainwash of the Masses would only increase...

  • @whrm3 peopel would be crashing their cards lol

  • @whrm3 it would be awesome to hack all those ads to be a massive rave fest of DOOM :o

  • @TheGodzilla1955 No JUst A Big Anoying Whirling Sound In New York

  • @whrm3 Unfortunately this technology would be no good for Times Square, since the projected image needs to be entirely encapsulated inside the clear dome. Also since it's mechanically scanned, a large version might get a little unwieldy, since the mechanics would all get bigger but you'd have to rotate just as many times per second (if not more). It is a cool display, and certainly has some applications. But it won't be replacing our TVs any time soon (if ever).

  • @DaveTheYellowDart let's see... what if you, say, took a very large window screen/mosquito net (so air can flow through), then used that as teh basis for a projection medium, and used a single projector combined with 3D software to display the 'slices' from the projector's point of view so that keystone adjustments would be covered? ...and then put railings around the large display... idk :P

  • @whrm3 Damn it would be a noisy place!

  • @whrm3 Times square would be a whole lot louder than it already is.

  • I WANT ONE!!!!!!!!

I think japan has said they are going to start advertising with these,

  • Yes That is very insane. I want one soon as it comes out!!!!

  • insane?, unsane!,

  • commercialise it, Id buy 2

  • i hope you are rich buddy!

  • rich in heart, poor in money, still worth nicking one ;)

  • LOL : )

  • i wana see one in HD when the pictures actually OUTSIDE the spinning thing

  • simpsons did it

  • wow cool maybe in a few years you wouldnt hear the motor noice in the background so it would be silent

  • Yeah. Then some retard would try touching the pretty image, making the officials to announce the device too dangerous.

  • You cant touch the image, as the rotating coil is enclosed in a glass dome. They thought about curious fingers pretty early when designing this thing :P

  • oooh shiiineeeeeee-OUCH!

  • How?

  • This is just a spinning LED / LCD pixel array. Nothing special. Does look cool, however :P Don't get your hand caught in one of these.

  • You're nothing special.

  • you don't even know how it works! It is far from nothing special. It is an amazing machine requiring some advanced math to get working

  • "This is just a spinning LED / LCD pixel array." :)

  • no, It's not

  • ahh yes it is dipshit

  • No.

  • Ummmmm, yes it is!

  • it most likely requires a lot of proggraming. You people just see what's on the outside. I could make a bar of LEDs and make it spin and do something awesome with it and you'de say "oh, all that's to it is a bar of leds"

  • it's a spinning LED/LCD. go to Fry's Electronics store and see the demo. the resolution is very very very very very low. not even VGA

  • hologram! :D

  • thats awsome, maybe in 10-20 years well see games able to be projected onto these :)

  • lololz z; Way to have one of those cheap electric things from spencers.

  • LOL!

  • Man , that thing would chew the power !

  • What is this ?

  • erm... the whole point of this was about the spinny thing. What the hell are you lot on about!

  • Just wondering, how is this done, I'm guessing that's a roating monitor there on the edge of some ring thing.

  • It's a rotating mirror with a projector above it.

  • This is bullshit you asshole that's a twisting-sphere not a 3D monitor, stop making this kind of videos cos is very annoying

  • They're both the same thing....what the hell are you talking about?

  • Now this is the future of tv sets.

It makes the thought of OLED`s old technology.

It would take a very big advances in the conventional way the tv studio`s function.

    More camera`s etc..

I want to look down the weather girls top when I`m an old bastard LOL

  • you are an old bastard, pervert! hopefully you won't live that long.

  • It was meant as a joke asswipe. Don`t you have a sense of humour of does the thought of posting video footage of material on youtube bother you, especially when it gets deleted from your page HAHA.

    Yes that`s called breaching copyrights.

    FRAUDSTER.

  • Looks cool!

  • seen much cooler stuff like this :P

  • Sounds like an Alien Flying Saucer (UFO).

  • ufos dont make noise.

  • Yes, they do, some does, have you even heard of the testimonies made from various abductee and eye-witnesses?

  • There are no UFO's... Well I mean there are UFOs... but not Alien UFOs. Yes there are aliens, but none able to travel the MASSIVE distance to earth from any other possibly habited planet. Besides, even if they did make it to our planet, and were showing up in the sky, why would they upduct people? Dont you think they would have better ways of observing us if they are advanced enough for interstellar travel? I rest my case. :)

  • There are millions of intelligent civilizations in the universe, you don't think at least one alien species in one ufo would abduct humans? We can't travel the vass distance doesn't mean they can't. it's called science and quantum physics, everybody eventually advances to much higher abilities gradually. Please have an open mind.

  • I have a very open mind. I realize that there are millions of other civilizations in the universe, I really just don't think they would abduct us. Even if they had some interest in us. They have better things to do. Instead of a primitive civilization as ours. Sure we go into space, but until we colonize another planet or part of space, we are fairly insignificant in the universe...

  • They abduct us not being what we are, they abduct us because of curiosity.

  • Again, dont you think if they have mastered interstellar travel, they would have better ways to examine us? Scanners, visuals, things like that?

  • hi =]

  • "there are millions of intelligent civilizations in the universe" Can you prove that? I don't think so. I'm the kind of person who has to have proves to believe something and I think the humans invented a lot of things to make an explanation about things they cannot understand. Unless they have a scientist theory,

  • Being honest, the ufos are a human creation and because of that we'll never be sure of their existance, I mean I can say I see one but How do I prove that? That is the question.

Don't be believers If you don't have proves, and true proves. And in the other side there are the "eye-witnesses" that just are people who see a thing flying around but they couldn't see What was that thing? Is that a prove? I do not think so.

  • First of all, UFOs are replications of actual UFO, and you don't believe other civilizations doesn exist? Well haven't you watched the news lately? Scientists have found 3 earth-like planets orbiting one sun in its solar system. You never read any news nor done any research.

  • The UFO's research I've seen are based in a far-taken picture I even can't see what the hell was that? It doesn't matters, I learn a thing of life, We cannot believe everything we see or hear, I have an example to prove that. Did you know that the sound do not exist? The vibrations in the air enter in our ears and inside it the vibrations go to the Corti's organ and it makes it nervous information that when reach in the brain our body translate the information in that we called sound.

  • until I see proves, cos' trusting in a weird new discoverement like Aliens with no proves is like say that Neil Armstrong never was in the Moon. how do you know he never was on the moon ? well the flag was moving and theres no wind on moon :S

  • I'm not gonna talk about the moon cos' I don't have much information about it, In fact I've never been interested in moon. Can be truth what you said, or not. Who knows?

  • what the fuck did you just say? Almost half of it made no sense whatsoever. "until I see proves, cos' trusting in a weird new discoverement like Aliens with no proves is like say that Neil Armstrong never was in the Moon. how do you know he never was on the moon ? well the flag was moving and theres no wind on moon :S" Actually now that I read it, none of it made sense. Buddy, if you're going to ask a question, please make the question understandable.

  • stop arguin u bunch of fuckin retarded babies!

  • Ummm buddy... I was asking a question to how that made any sense, obviously that means I am arguing about the video right? Pfff shit that means we're arguing right? Because I didn't understand a comment. Maybe you should re-read that... yeah...
