  • That man rocks a guitar!!!!!

  • 2:26 ... i want to punch that woman in the face, and i couldn't really tell you why.

  • check out this version by U2, Mick Jagger & Fergie from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th Anniversary. She kills.

  • best cover i hear till now , i knew it was the best as soon as i heard the intro and sure it was

  • Alicia Keys is a powerful singer!

  • The single best rendition of this fantastic song!!! Awesome!!

  • Alicia Keys aka BROWN SUGAR!

  • They rocked it.

  • great duet!awesome

  • this is the absolute worst.......

  • What an incredible version...

  • german: was geht denn da ab? :D polish: o kurwa! :D englisch: awesome! ;)

  • Great Job KU & YOUR CREW & Alicia Key's

  • Keys can't hold as candle to the chick that sings back yup for the Stones. She burns this song down to the floor.

  • keys has went wild en`like that..

  • Keyword: Text getlynneking1 to 88704

  • At least we can say that Alicia is a lot easier on the eye than Mick Jagger...and that the Stones were the greatest band ever to breathe air.

  • Alicia smashes this - She can throw her voice at anything. The original is one of my favourite songs - fantastically powerful and moving.. This is undoubtably a great version however ...

  • damn alicia ...go girl...she can do it all.

  • Keep on stalkin' Bro, and don't ever accept "No" for an answer. She'll come around eventually.

  • She doesn't know it yet but Alicia Keys is going to be my wife. Man, I love that woman. And the music's okay, too.

  • KInda strange to see people smiling...... this is a serious song..... apocalyptic ....inspired by the explosive violence of Vietnam being broadcast into every living room via television.

  • Marianne faithful has nothing to do with the original. The original female vocal track was done by Merry Clayton, who sang with so much intensity she suffered a miscarriage afterwards. The original version has not been surpassed, and never will be.....god knows people have tried......and the song itself brings it out of artists, IMHO.

  • Check out Ashley Cleveland's take on this Stones classic from the "Stoned Country" Nashville tribute show. She gives Mick and the boys a run for their money. Bet you put it on your YouTube "Favorites."

  • rock it keith

  • Original was Mary Ann Faithful a long time ago. Now it is Lisa Fisher.

  • I was AT the concert. Hands down the single greatest performance of a song I have ever seen.

  • @famdockevin

What is/was the venue where this concert was staged?

  • @MotownBo

At Live Earth. The Meadowlands. 7/7/07. It is a shame that the quality of the recording of the song isn't quite as good as it sounded in person.

  • @MotownBo This concert was at the Meadowlands, Giant's Stadium in East Rutherford New Jersey.

  • @famdockevin I was there and I agree....I feel in love with Keith Urban that day,.......Jon Bon WHO? LMAO

  • Every time I see this, all I can think is Nicole Kidman is sooo much better off now than she was when she was married to that other guy.

  • the sofa jumping fiend? definitely!

  • I listen to this Daily....Alicia's "Rape, Murder" part is so sincere..it gives me goosebumps

  • long cool woman in a black dress yes

  • I loved the paring of these two on one of my favorite stones songs. A +

  • Hij is zo goed n_n

    He's so good

  • Alicia Keyes off key? Motherfucker clean out your ears. Alicia Keys has never been off key. She came out of the womb singing perfect.

  • haha thats true.

  • nah, the rape, murder singing part was in key, but her piano was out

  • KEITH! the great man just turns it on... Seen him live - what a genius. Put him behind RHCP live and thats it.

  • this song is awesome!!

  • three words... A- Ma- Zing!!! ALICIA ROCKS OMG!!!! HOW CAN PEOPLE LEAVE COMMENTS BELOW AGAINST HER PERFORMANCE??? GET SOME NEW EARS!

  • Alicia Keys nailed it. I'm not saying she was better than Mary Clayton, nobody can say that. But she nailed it. I don't hear anyone badmouthing Keith Urban.

  • Did Mary Clayton sing this with the stones, or did she do her own song?

  • Mary Clayton did this with the Stones. She did the " Rape Murder " part.

  • she did her own version :)

  • she the one on the original version with the stones and she does her own version check her version out its really good

  • carmeltits, how can alicia be the one on the original version with the stones? get a grip! pretty sure alicia wasn't born in 1968 for altamont!

  • oops meant to reply to one i know its merry clayton with the stones there champ

  • Two of my favourite singers on stage ! I love Keith & Alicia !! <3

  • keith was killin itt with the guitar mann!!...towards the endd...mann

  • alicia rocked! thats when u kno tht rock n soul arent tht far away...

  • Friggin' awesome!!!

  • Wow i never know she could rock like that! Alicia and Keith make a good duo

  • WOW when Alicia sang the "Rape, Murder" hook...It was absolutely amazing. Heartfelt...WOW! She does rock well.

  • They blew the roof off!! Wait there was no roof!!! I can't wait for Daytona 500 Pre-Race Show on 2/15/09!! Keith is gonna ROCK THAT PLACE!!!!!!

  • AWESOME! Keith & Alicia rocked the house!

  • Ya see, live earth wasn't a complete failure! :P

  • Outrageous!!!

  • Good song but I like the Goo Goo Doll version better.

  • I didn't know these cats could rock this hard. bravo!!

  • Keith blew me away{as always}! I love The Stones so Urban had me really happy, he made this cover his own....yeah that good! I can't find a negative vibe in this performance with AK. I'd rather have ALL URBAN, but hey this song needs a woman{as do most men:}. Bottom line, this rocked me a yr ago and I'm still shouting...good job!

    KeithsComeOnOverHereGirl..MV ~~Ruth~~

    Hope & Happiness

  • Alicia is awsome.

  • This performance made me fall so in love with Alicia Keys! She is AWESOME when she rocks out.

  • I love keith urban and what a great job!!!! Keiths number one Ky gal msmaggie

  • i wish it was just keith singing this song! alicia keys killed the song, sorry but r & b is better suited for her. i want just keith's version of the song.

  • No way; I was tingling all over (me:female) while she was singing her strongest part-- she does a better job than Mavis Staples.

  • true

  • it's like a juxaposition that my mind isn't ready for. But I like it

  • ok Alicia seriously, like Know one care's about ur piano! it sounds stupid in this song

  • this song is awesome!!

  • Great performance. But I wonder how many in the audience understood the song, or it's history...

  • This is so moving to watch. It's reminiscent of the Vietnam War protests that I have seen only on video, but here are people my age 'screaming' out in the form of great music that they want Mother Earth to thrive far into the future. "The Greatest Generation" f'ckd it up, and we blindly followed in their footsteps for a while.

  • That was my favorite performance from that day although they were all great.

Wish there was a DVD Box Set of Live Earth '07.

  • I was 10 rows from the stage for this performance. It was truly epic. I still think this will go down as one of the Top 10 live performances.

It just sounded insanely good and clean in person. Whoever the other musicians were, they were just as unreal. The video here does it some justice. Simply, it was stunning, even a year later I get goosebumps.

  • The band was Keith Urban's band-they are ALL awesome musicians in their own right-if you haven't seena Keith Urban show live-you MUST go!

  • Alicia Keys is in the wrong genre... She is so far above R&B-Pop it's not even funny....

  • Keith was soooo good,He's the Best!

  • I think Keith was amazing. He just flew out Dallas the night before...

  • Alicia wasnt screaming, she was just singing the dong in the same manner that the original was sung. she is an excellent performer, everybody knows that, look how many grammys she's won

  • Word watermelon....word.

  • that was awesome!

give 'em props, man. they only had one rehearsal...ONE...crazy...i couldnt pull that off...no way.

  • Of course they owe all this to the rolling stones...

  • I love it!!

  • I have every one of Keith's albums, but Alicia takes over this show!

  • Truly inspired. Alicia Keys is a Godess. She can do anything. I think she could take over the world if she wanted. I don't think she has a "comfort zone"...she just sings pretty much better then everyone else. R&B, rock....whatever. She is amazing. And Gimmie Shelter is the perfect song to play at a benefit for the environment.

  • I thought this was great; I'm really surprised.

The ending guitar solo made me think of Lindsey Buckingham.

  • Keith Urban is one of the few country artits who can pull of rock music... not to mention he is absoulutly amazing with a guitar!!

  • Keith & Alica great musicans, well done, super band...play more from the Stones

  • I don't know what's wrong with you people! Alicia was totally put out of her comfort zone but she pulled it off awesomely. Too bad all the balancing is off so you can't hear either of them.

  • I think they're doing a great job, and I can see that the title of the song is very appropriate for that certain event, but the song is shit, really! It makes Alicia, who usually is a good singer, shout and you can't hear Keith's beautiful voice. Annoying.

  • HUH?

The song is rated in the top 30 songs of all-time. What are you talking about? It's probably the Rolling Stones most well-known song during the Vietnam War Era.

  • I love Rolling Stones... Just don't think this song is as good as for example Satisfaction, Emotional Rescue, Angie or Start Me Up. Even a great band can't nail it every single time and to me Rolling Stones didn't do that with this song, the lyrics are good though.. Keith and Alicia are, like I said, doing their job very good and obviously have tons of talent, this just isn't comfortable listening to.. Besides doing a Rolling Stones song takes a Mick Jagger. No one can do him right.

  • gimme shelter or i'm gonna fade away!!!

  • Btw... Just because a song is rated in the top 30 songs of all-time doesn't by definition make it a good song. Who's made that list, a panel of so-called experts? Who's to decide if a song is good?.. It's a difference of opinion.

  • It's indisputable that Gimme Shelter is one of the greatest songs of all-time--that's the point. What song did they perform when they appeared on Ed Sullivan? Nuf said.

  • STRONG. VERY STRONG.

  • It´s a good attempt...but nothing more. In my opinion, the absolutely best ever recorded version is the version of the gorgeous Mary Clayton; yes the background singer, that used to sing the backing vocals in the original version by the stones. She also did that great song on her own. Listen to it...and you´ll know what I mean. There are things that just can´t get changed for the better. This is one great example for this...there won´t ever be a better version of this song, than her version.

  • Shame on me...MERRY CLAYTON, not MARY CLAYTON.

  • I hate Keith...but he's nailing it...& Alicia is drop dead gorgeous & doin' a pretty good job too!

  • if you say so...

  • I love keith!

  • It is not bad and Alicia looks pretty good, but I recommend everybody the Stones version from 1973 in Perth - THAT ROCKS

  • That was an awesome performance. I'm not a Keith Urban fan but he and Alicia Keys did a fantastic job. And Keith is smokin' HOT!

  • U Idiot, u know Keith Urban, You not even closr to Him, He's Unique, U don't even knows how to play,He's the best.If U don't like Him don't listen to Him,It's Simple, Nobody force U to listen Urban Music, Forget Keith Urban, But Wer Love Him ANY WAY! THANK's FOR YOUR COMMENT!

  • I agree, Keith is the best,Best, and the Best, He can play what ever He can, nobody can't bit Him,No Way, Are going to vote for Him, If You like Him, vote for Him, He deserve to Win, I love to vote for Him, but I can't because I'm Canadian,to BAD!, but Canada Love Keith so much!

  • wow they sound great together! amazing!

  • Great Performance!

  • Aww, teddy bear drummer.

  • they rocked on this song, forget the genres, colors and names you want to call them....

    they are called musicians, artists'....

so stop slamming them for giving us a great performance by two world class acts...they blended very well together but as great as a piano player that she is, it's hard to play against or with keith on guitar, he freakin is on fire...on the $, every performance I've ever seen and yes, seen a few!

  • Wow! The kids are alright!

  • excuse me? country boy? did you see that man on guitar?!? can you say ROCKSTAR?!? Keith is hardly a country boy! just because he sings country jeez!

  • Just wanted to say I'm with you - I have RARELY considered Keith a 'country' singer. "Raise the Barn" is about as 'authentically' country as he gets. I was w/ a friend in my car, turned on that CD and "Raise the Barn" came on; he started making fun of it - I was so pissed off!

  • listen to his earlier works. His ranch album es.p was totally about country music. Now he's becoming more mainstream, but still country!

  • Who are you calling a tool? Certainly not anyone in Keith's band I hope cause my Uncle is on that stage all the way to the right and you better not be insulting him. You know nothing about these musicians backgrounds. My Uncle personally is good friends with Ron Wood so screw you I think he has permission to play this song!

  • Keith's band is good, but Keith Urban is a weak pretty boy singer.

  • Your uncle is Brian. Thats awesome!

  • I meant to the left on the stage haha Brad is my Uncle :)

  • i love it at the end where alicia is amazed at keiths guitar playing

  • this is a great version of the song i enjoyed it very much and keith and alicia worked so well together and keiths solo was impressive!

  • I voted for this on CMT also....a great, great peformance! Keith is masterful on the guitar..what a talent! Alicia is amazing as well!
